    Midi was such an indescribable game changer for me when I started implementing it a few years back. I don’t even use it’s “deeper” functions...I use it to change delay/modulation patches with my es-8 and it’s STILL been unbelievable. Being able to have entire banks filled with mod sounds, ambient sounds and “dinner set sounds” is unreal. It literally gives you the ability to build, arrange and save an entire effects chain. I wish I had known that ten years ago...it would’ve made my gigging life soooo much easier

      I’m exactly where you were a few years ago and need help understanding all this midi stuff. I have an es-8 and I’m trying to figure out how to recall patches on midi controllable delay/mod pedals (dd/md-200). The only thing I’ve figured out how to do is send tempo from es-8 to both pedals. Can you point me to any good resources that will help me understand what all these other midi things like program changes, assignments, etc mean so that I can recall specific presets on pedals for es-8 patches? Thanks for any help or pointing me in the right direction!!

      It’s actually super easy, man. It seems like you already have midi channels assigned to each pedal (if not, that’s the first thing...the manuals for the 200s will tell you how to assign midi channels). From there, all you have to do is send PC messages from your es-8. PC messages change the preset on your pedal. For instance, let’s say your dd-200 is midi channel 2 and you wanna switch it so that your first preset is selected for a patch. Under “midi 1” on the es-8, you’d pick channel 2 and PC #1 (maybe pc #2...sometimes it takes a sec to find the exact pc# you’re looking for in order to recall a preset. But that should at least get you goin. I’m not 100% sure about videos regarding the midi function but there’s *gotta* be something, even the online es-8 manual should be of use.

      That's actually what this system is designed for,,, I have a es5. With od200. Going into 500 delay into 500 modulation. I prefer the 500 series to 200 except for the od cause that's all I could get. The abbreviations in the 200 drive me crazy.. as the 500 is just easier to read. But maybe you could do a video on running midi with more than one connection.

    Great! The ms-3 is such an amazing tool, it really is at the center of everything I do on guitar. I've been using it for quite a while now and I still find out new things to do with it regularly. Hadn't dived into midi yet but it seems dead simple to do. Thanks!

    Thanks for the great video. I’ve watched this few years back and it helped me to use this with my G Major 2. Now… I’ve got a Kemper Player. Can the ms-3 work with the Kemper player? Preferably midi over usb. If not… possible to set patches to control both G Major 2 and Kemper player?

    Can you direct me to any videos just like this one for using the ES-8 to access all the channels on the DD-500? So far I've scoured the web and only found a few, nothing that can help me program any channels past 37 or so. Any help is appreciated.

    I'm trying to control the TC Electronic Ditto x4 with the MIDI on the MS-3. All I need it to do is stop a loop. The ditto has MIDI in, and I've seen people make it do exactly what I want, but never with the MS-3. Does ANYONE know how to do that? I can't get it to work.

    How do I assign MIDI channel on the Boss 500 series? I'm so new to this and there's not any example on this on youtube on the Boss-500 pedals on where/how to do this and the manual doesn't say anything about it either. I'm not gonna dig in to the advanced stuff on the Es-8 or the Boss-500 pedals. I bought it only to retrieve patch setting from differn't presets from the pedals on the ES-8. I wonder if you could make a simple video with multiple boss pedals on how to do this.

    Can it be configured to send more than one PC per patch? I'm thinking of a scenario where I can control both my amplifier channel and the preset on an external effects-unit with two separate PC values - can this be done?

    Can you set these so that user patch one sets the a side of the eq 200 to preset? User patch 2 on ms3 would set the eq200s a side to preset 2? User 3 to preset 3 etc? I want to use 4 basses that all have drastic output differences. I want a present per bass on the ms3 that automatically selects the eq preset

      You'll need the midi specifications of your amp (see its manual) to know what messages to send through midi but can't see why this would not work. Like in the video where he sends number 27 which is the bypass for this particular external device. Hope this helps!

    Are you able to combine the internal effects with a midi control? Eg. 1 switch changes the channel on my amp via midi and adds MS3 built in delay at the same time.

    • @TimOost
      @TimOost 2 роки тому

      I believe so using the assign parameters. You can even switch an effect within a patch with a button. So changing a phaser for flanger, or of course parameters of said effect, eg increasing the wet control or in your case the on/off of the delay.

    Does anyone know how to change banks with Midi control for DD-500?

    • @AustinSandick
      @AustinSandick 5 років тому +1

      This would have to be done through PC/Program Changes. It would be a change between patches as appose to banks. Set the first preset in the next bank to a different PC# Sync the right PC numbers between the DD and the MS and you should be good to go. I use this feature personally and it helps greatly!

    Ugh, I hate menu diving on teeny tiny devices. Devices get smaller and add more and more features, but more and more complex to operate on the fly. I’d like to see classic boss stomp pedal with just the right updates to improve sound and capabilities but still, easy to use. We want to focus on musical,expression not become technicians.
