You make a point at the 7:28 mark about Russia's capabilities in your scenario being equivalent to our own in this timeline, which I'm not sure is a safe assumption. As Russia would have years earlier gotten access to a warm water port, it's hard to imagine that with this major economic essential that their overall economy would not have been boosted over what they experienced in our time. A richer Russia would have had more capital to pursue their aims and better afford any policies they wanted to undertake. And this would be at a bare minimum, in that the desire to pursue more economic development had a good chance of jump-starting a bourgeois element in the country, forcing the government to modernize to meet new demands the same way Peter the Great pushed Russia to adopt more Western traditions. Still, kudos for giving time for this scenario, which doesn't get a lot of attention otherwise.
i dont think there would be enough time to establish the infrastructure to truly connect them to iranian/persian ports in time to boost their economy significantly enough.
These ports are very very far off and minimal connection from the Russian heartland. Not to mention their no where near enough time to do what you say and honestly forcing through the changes you suggest would just make Russia weaker as they can’t realistically exploit these ports and increases in influence for a while and now the Russian nobility is really upset
I feel like Russia winning the great game would change things too drastically for sides to be very similar to the ones we saw in ww1, more than likely Russia, Germany and Austria would be on friendly terms and would have a great amount of distaste for Britain. Especially since German Kaiser would still have a loathing for Britain
Absolutely not. Germany was scared of Russia before and now they’re terrified of them. Austria doubly. And France still bitter from German invasion would throw away the balance of power and for the entente with Russia against Germany. In some stretch world you can manipulate events for a German-Russian alliance but Austria ain’t joining that and expect the coalition against them to be much larger with fewer nations even considering joining the Germans. It’s not like this scenario is any more realistic though as Germany and Russia aren’t the ones that guided the alliances towards inevitable war but France.
You should make a parallel scenario where Britain Wins the Great Game. Although they did win the Great Game that doesn’t mean that they couldn’t gain more and so if they won it would maybe force Russia to get closer to Germany, maybe dropping the issues in the balkans to the Austrians (maybe it’s settled in a compromise) as to protect itself from British expansion into its southern underbelly.

Why is Germany missing Schleswig on that map? The German Empire unified after the German Danish war, in which the Germans got Schleswig and still own a lot of it up to the present day. Schleswig was never in the German confederation, so the map in the beginning was correct, but it surely was part of the unified German Empire.
@@tylerclayton6081 That's wrong, Schleswig was never a part of Poland at any time of history. You're probably thinking about Silesia or in German Schlesien, which was occupied by Poland in 1945 and officially annexed in 1990.
@@colonel_yuri That's straight up wrong as I already explained to Tylerclayton. Silesia is nowadays a part of Poland, Schleswig is nowadays German and Danish. Back in 1871, both of them fully were a part of Germany. But even nowadays Schleswig certainly isn't part of Poland. Just look at any official map of Europe.
Alternative to this that completely reworks the game itself for my own personal head canon. Alexander 1st sides with Napoleon under the conditions of heavy concessions to Russia. Russia annexes most of Europe between itself and the Vistula, including much of Sweden and large amount of the Ottoman Empire, particularly Istanbul, and establishing puppet governments for most of former Ottoman Europe. This is in exchange for France recognising these gains, Napoleon, or it least promising his son to, marrying an important Romanov, and helping in the invasion of the Ottomans. Some time around the mid 1810s, the UK gives up the Napoleonic wars and recognises Napoleon, especially after Russia threatens to join in on a potential French naval invasion. From this point, Napoleon has technically won, but his rule of much of Europe is tenuous, particularly with Spain and Portugal. in 1825, the Decemberists will manage to pressure the monarchy into giving some concessions to a more liberal democratic parliament, with Russia on its way to resembling Prussia in terms of internal politics, with exception to pluralism. Speaking of pluralism, Russofication efforts would have to be more passive, with the creation of pan-Slavic, and later pan-Abrahamic identity as Russia gains a much larger Muslim population. There are probably another series of wars within Europe involving throwing off the domination of Russia and France, and lets say Russia comes out of the conflicts about as strong as they were coming into it, while French power is diminished. From this point onward, Russian industrialisation is likely happening at a noticeably fast rate than in our own timeline. If something equivalent to WW1 is delayed for long enough, with the Great Game as you described it still happening in the background, they could solidify their grounds over 2/3rds of Europe and much of Asia in this Alternate WW1, with the UK and a fearful France on 1 side, and Russia on another. Russia would get a great Duchies of Prussia and Austria as their Jewels of Europe, with the rest of Europe east of the alps being under Russian influence, if not a part of Russia in some way. In Asia, Russia, in much the same way as described for Europe, is likely extended up to the Euphrates, if not the entire Middle East, Egypt included as a puppet if the Russian victory is decisive. Much of the Raj will be taken by Russia, And massive chunks of China are taken by Russia, potentially large amount of Japan too, though it might be before or after WW1 . From then on, its just a waiting game for the Western European empires to lose influence over their colonies, or for those colonies to not be particularly profitable to hold (Especially since economically/technologically developing colonies wasn't in the colonialist playbook). Russia would then further solidify control over what lands it has, of which they would be massive with a massive population, and hope nothing particularly strong rattles the empire, likely with a new Great Game developing between Russia and the rising star of America, with America pushing for decolonisation of European colonies in Asia and Africa, bringing them into American influence. The way America and Russia expand influence will be more similar to a blend of the Cold War between the USSR and America and the current geopolitical struggle between America and China, likely more to the current struggle considering that monarchism in other countries isn't and existential threat to American influence like communist states (See every dictator or monarchy America propped up). I don't know who would win this new great game, but Russia, or rather this new Eurasian Empire, would certainly enter and remain a superpower.
I dont fully agree with definition of a win for Russia. I mean the chance to threaten India is cool and all but such a view of the Great Game is Anglocentric. Main goal for Russia was to secure passages to the core Russian Plain which it managed to do irl
Considering that’s the Great War ended in a Central Powers victory, and Britain is with the Central Powers, that means we would see them in conflict with the rising US, I kinda want to see what the US looks like after the Great War
I suggest that Ottoman Empire could join the war on Russian side. Then they would get oil-reach lands of Quwait, Egypt, some lands on Balkans and influence on Bolgaria and Yugoslavia. Also they had interacted with Britain while Crimean war and severely struggled. So, no chance for Britain and OE would be in one allience. Plus, Ottomans could try to pretend on Husestan in these events or the facts above are more realistic.
Even in OTL, the Ottomans were on the fence on who to join, mainly due to the threat from Britain and wanting to keep cordial relations with Britain; if the British threat didn't exist, they would definitely still join the Central powers, as they valued gains in Russia and potentially Persia as a greater goal than expansion into Egypt which would be infeasible to maintain. The British joining the Central powers only exacerbates this as the war seems much more winnable and would please the large amount of people within the Ottoman government which wished to maintain good relations with Britain. There where large groups within the Ottoman government which wished to join the Entente even in OTL, mainly due to wanting to stay friendly with Britain, even if that meant minimal actual land gains. Going against both Britain and Germany, the two great powers that the Ottomans wanted to remain friendly with, in exchange for being allied to its greatest rival for gains in the Balkans (which would revolt at any opportunity) and control over Egypt (which would be near impossible) would not be a logical course of action for the Ottomans. On top of this it would look far more likely that a Germany-Britain alliance would beat the Russo-French alliance, which makes it a poor decision from the point of view of the Ottomans.
Doubt that Britain would sacrifice Belgium in that case, it's much more likely that Britain would remain neutral, Italy would still join Entante having much more to gain. Britain would tho demand that Russia leaves Persia after the war as reperations or smt along those lines.
I certainly think that the Italians would still join the Entente if the British stayed neutral, though that is a scenario all on its own, but in this timeline the British, instead of making closer ties with the French, outwardly join the Central Powers prewar. Britain would join the war after Russia declares war on Austria-Hungary, not after Germany's push into France. As said in the video, the British, as for much of its history in the 19th century, would severely fear the Russians, as they hold a similar mentality to the Germans: that Russia would become unstoppable if allowed to develop, and so would feel required to nip Russian growth in the bud, this wouldn't be something they could just let the continent sort out by itself. Though Britain would vehemently oppose the German invasion through Belgium, its not like they would be willing to pull out of the war over the issue for the aforementioned reasons of fearing Russia. It is infact because of Britain's maintained support for Belgium that it remains as an independent state instead of a German Puppet.
