My tip for any new wavestate owners who are totally intimidated by the concepts and complexity. You can start just playing with multisamples which makes it more like a regular synth, ie 'no sequence lanes'. Once you get used to the feel of a simple one channel(layer) patch, you can move to copying single channels(layers) from patches to see how they did their lanes and make new patches using up to 4 channels all copied out of other patches(performance is the whole patch). You can also stack and mute channels to work it like a drum machine or change sounds within the patch like a mixer
I got the Korg O1-W Pro and the Wave Station after working nights at an AM/PM and saving for over 8 months. That only paid for about 40% of the total cost. The rest I put on my very first Credit Card. I was 19years old. It was GREAT!!! I was very proud of myself. Two months later the Northridge earthquake hit and I lost them both..they actually got stolen. We werent allowed to go back into the damaged area my apartment was at, so there werent people or cops in the area.. my amps, guitar, and all my pedals were also taken. The only thing they didnt take was my GSD puppy(which would have devastated me) , but it looked like they had tried.
I only just remember hearing about that. There is no way on Earth would I have left my baby (Yasimba), no matter how dangerous it was! I hope he lived a long good happy life mate! Cops are just shite now..... even over here..
Alex: That is terrible. Sorry that happened to you. I hope that you now have tenant insurance, with "riders" for your musical gear -- and for cameras, too, if you have any.
😀I have enjoyed it a lot. Excellent demonstration of the WAVESTATE. I am subscribed with anticipation of listening to some new demos of equipment and music. Best regards from Argentina
Take wavestate to the next level by adding an external keyboard or footboard that is set outside the range of the wavestate's keyboard. You can do the "1-note drum" elsewhere or add a bass sequence while you do chords&leads on wavestate. Lol 7m26sec. That patch. You can take 4 copies of that sequence channel and make a new patch. If you set one channel's range outside the others, it won't sync when you play outside the other's range, but sync's inside. That gets crazy. I am thinking about cutting the case and removing the garbage keyboard. I'm with everyone else who thinks these are endless fun. The deepest synth I ever tangled with.
Nice demo. I've had mine for a couple of years now, and the only issue I've had with it was updating the firmware. If you're buying a new one make sure it's loaded with at least version 2.0.1. Anything earlier than that is a real chore to update. Other than that, it's one unique and wonderful machine, as illustrated here. 😎
@@tarikkeskin You're welcome Tarik. It might have been better if you had listed the presets you used in order of use in the description section. Maybe next time? 🤔

Excellent demo from you... Thanks very much 🙏🏽 Could you please tell me if it has many ethnic world instruments ...like ouds, bouzoukis, flutes... etc.. I can hear the tabla and sitar.. Korg pa 700 oriental contains a good variety of these instruments... I know the tech info says it's got 1000+ samples... But nobody has demonstrated those sounds...
Thanks for your kind words! Yes it actually contains lots of ethnic world instruments ranging from percussions to woodwinds and all sorts of stuff. They are presented in lots of performance patches also. You can even find a greater variety of ethnic sounds in the program patches, and of course many samples are there as multisamples.
@@ujinjuvanus You can connect it via a midi cable I guess? If you mean the programming of the synth then I think you need to download the software from Korg's site but it's more intuitive to do it on the synth I guess.
How about the overlapping of the sounds? I tried the VST demo of Wavestate and sounds are not stopping when you hit next note, creating a mess. Is this a problem on hardware version?
My wavestate (version 1) is not turning off except if I turn off the switch of electricity. I bought it second hand yesterday. The seller says it is firmware related issue. Any ideas for that?
Since you are a source of inspiration and always answer my questions rapidly, I would like to pose you one more! I own wavestate native on my mac. Which midi controller or any device do you think could make me have more hands on wavestate's interface?? I was looking at arturia's beatstep, or mini lab MkII. What's your opinion and suggestion?
Hello there, thanks! Well I don't really recommend anything else, I mean it's interface is intuitive enough I think. I think you can connect it to a sequencer though.
Can you "hold" a note with drums in it so you don't have to keep pressing the key to keep it playing? The Modwave has a latch button but I don't see one on the Wavestate.
In the menu screen somewhere there is a hold i just can't remember where. I think in the current patches screen you turn the scroll knob until you get to the hold on/off
@@andrestreek3720 Just some basic eqing, dipping around 300hz and boosting the high end, and izotope limiter at almost standard settings. I think there is also a compressor there, it can be Red Compressor or Teletronix I don't remember!
I find it hard to come to a solid opinion on this synth. Without a doubt it demos very well and I find myself attracted toit. However, I find myself worrying about it just being a “modern chord organ”. If it’s difficult to program sequences, and you just use the built-ins, what is the point? If you do decide to dive and and program sequences, I kind of feel like you’d be better composing your tunes with a few synths and a sequencer made for sequencing, rather than hunt and peck in a tiny window or run an app to do it 🤷🏻♂️. I’m not hard on this opinion - I feel like I must be missing something. Maybe a failure of imagination on my part. I fear I’d get it, and play with it now and then (because it definitely looks fun), but not really use it productively.
