- Introducing Korg's Wavestate: a 21st-century reimagining of the classic 1990s Wavestation concept. This video explores some of the many sounds it can produce, from huge cinematic pads to intricately-composed, layered rhythmic sequences. For more about the Wavestate's methods and inspirations, check out our blog Signal: www.perfectcircuit.com/signal...
Based on wave sequencing and vector synthesis, the Wavestate provides nearly endless options for creating lush, evolving soundscapes. Like the Wavestation series before it, it relies on Wave Sequencing to allow users to create everything from smooth timbral transitions to jarring, abrupt sonic changes using a huge range of PCM waves. By using four Wave Sequencing-capable oscillators at the corners of a Vector Synthesis diamond configuration, the Wavestate enables continuous transitions between independently-unfolding wave sequences...meaning that entirely separate sonic worlds can collide and blend at the flick of a joystick.

This thing would be the ultimate bedroom procrastination machine. Just gonna stay in tonight and play 4 hours of Terminator soundtrack, might transition into some X-Files later.
You just described my entire career as a "pro" musician. Thanks.
It's been described as very lightweight. That means it might be perfect for the bedroom or lap and headphones.
Lol...yes, think of the money we'll save on keyboard lessons!
It's funny you mention X-Files, as the original Korg Wavestation was used in the production of the soundtrack for X-Files!
Nah not me .I love actual music & songs not noise, but this thing could make some great sounds for that purpose.
Great synth for scoring crime dramas or documentaries about lemmings.
you mean like Forensic Files?
No imagination, huh?
Law And Order: Special Lemmings Unit.
Resident Evil
@@FanaticDrummer Resident Evil: Apocalypse Lemmings Extinction
I found it...I finally found the big score synth for me 😊
How could anyone downvote this???? It's absolutely beautiful and for only $800. Are you kidding me!??!?!
people who are confused or think it sounds cheap/cheesey, or demented analogue cultists
Wow ... still blown away by those sounds and I've binge watched every video on UA-cam about this synth. I'm now selling my Roland piano to get the Wavestate.
You could put drums and a lead over literally any of these and it could be a full song. Whoa
Some day I'll have a job again.... and I will own a korg wavestate!
the range of sounds coming out of this thing is absurd. hot damn
Well that honestly was the most enjoyable 16 minutes of music I have heard in decades, so nice job. And I need one of those.
Seriously!
Its on sale at Adaorma for 449 right now
@@robc.181More like $649 now.
@@fmagic2000able bummer I got my for r49
Easily the best demo of the Wavestate so far. Too many of the other reviewers have both hands on the keyboard all the time when there's a very good reason that it has a bunch of knobs and the keyboard has only three octaves!
@@Eightch Hi, i went on your Instagram hoping to hear and see more about the Wavestate but nope.... nothing :(
It only has 3 octaves so KORG can make it cheaply. No manual is supplied cause Korg says they are saving trees but how many trees does it take for everyone to print a manual. Their RAM sounds can only be saved in a compatible computer as long as Korg decides to keep supporting the synth with updated software. Korg no longer supplies parts and as you know, there is something in every one of their synths that is critical but fails. For example, the floppy drives in ALL their X3s and the screens in ALL their Z1s. Replacements are not available and have to take your chances on the Internet. Their recommended replacement parts from Parts is Parts are only available for a very short time.
Amazing.....next level synthesis and just as cool vid we’ll demonstrated
From 10 or 11 minutes to the end totally blew my mind.
Now I have no doubts about getting
it ,thank you.
Nice demo thanks for the video
Mine just came in, what a time to be alive!
@ 03:03 thank you very much for showing the magical sound that device had !!! man i'm starving for such device with this kind of sounds
Outstanding demo of what appears to be a classic synth in the making.
*in the re-making
;)
this is a korg masterpiece! D: 👋🏻🎱👄🎱🤚🏻 my favorite digital synth of all time, reborn!!! ✊😯
The King is back, long live the King!
I sold my KingKorg for this (and my Supernova 2), this takes up far less space and is waaaaaayyyyy more usefull for my music !
Very impressive! Really looking forward to the 61 key SE version of this synth.
Yes the synth sounds great. But this particular demo is excellent. Go Korg! Peace Christo 👽🐕🎶🛸🛸
Amazing dude, the best demo of it so far!
So it's an instant Ghost in the Shell OST maker
Thank you. I am buying a Wavestate next week thanks to this marvellous video.
Been looking for something that can get into the complex sounds that I've only been able to get out of softsynths. Damn, Korg, TAKE MY MONEY!
Perfect Circuit.. Always has the best gear sound demonstration videos, Always has the worst customer service. Thanks again for showing me another synth i want to buy.. from somewhere else ;)
I can’t believe Korg has done this haha. I literally just bought an Argon8 but I will 1000% be getting this as well. They’re both pretty different at the end of the day and the OG Wavestation is one of the best poly synths ever. Can’t wait.
Best demo yet! Damn, now I REALLY want one of these!
Very cool demo; thanks! 😌
OMG, So deep and dark!!! Just PERFECT!!!!!
Eightch Do you think the Wavestate will sound right in a mix will real guitars, bass, percussion, etc? I know it’s not the machines main focus, but how are the piano and EP sounds? Workable or too processed? I love how this machine sounds.
Sounds great, James!
It's really impressive
KORG...This is the Way!!
We need a desktop version.... I have spoken.
Great demo - tastefully done
Fantastic demo!
I can't wait to get my mitts on one at NAMM for a demo.
Thanks for posting !
It sounds beautiful 😍
Can't help think it's going to be out of my price range, that much beauty generally comes with a high price.
best Wavestate demo
I have pre-ordered one :) I don't usually do this!! but couldn't help it after watching these videos plus I have great experience with Korg. still have my original Microkorg :)
Excellent range 👍🏾
some nice eerie pads there mate !!
Nice opening sequence!
Amazing sound, pads machine👍
Dream machine
seems worthy of a fun factor award.
John Carpenter would love this thing. He could direct and score 3 movies in 3 weeks with this LOL
If you have sense, you can flawlessly play improvisation at art events for hours without preparations
not as well as a real arranger keyboard
Some of the sounds reminds me of the atmospheric music from some of the playstation 1 games I played back then.
WOW, spoooooky awesomeness. From out of this world. I want one.🎹👍😮
This is Hans Zimmer in a box.
This sounds very nice
Just born love!
This thing is gonna sell like crazy. Therefore, I'll wait till next year and get the Wavestate Pro or whatever they'll call the next upgraded version... we all know it's gonna happen.
Now there’s a Wavestate SE in the works! Aftertouch and 61 keys. 😋
Amazing!
First part sounds like some David Lynch Angelo Badalementi stuff right here.
Yeah, that is a great compliment!
It would be nice to have this in VSTi form - not really sure I need or want yet another hardware synth, but I have to say this one sounds fantastic. It's a motion pad factory - lush, complex and very atmospheric. A noodler's dream.
What vst's do you enjoy the most? Been thinking about going "hybrid" these past days, I feel my hardware setup is too limited in sound palette and would benefit from having a daw running with a few vst's.
@@bastianm5478 ATM my favourites are Omnisphere 2 and the new Korg Triton VSTi. Both are huge in scope and content and on the more expensive end of the spectrum, but I find them endlessly inspirational as idea generators.
I need this!
The last Patch reminds me about tracks from Dopplereffect.... awesome!
what a beast synth!
Endless Sonic creation and I don’t care if it’s all digital
Jeeezus this thing is beastly
I bet Korg sent Steven King a wavestate so his movies sound even more scarie :)
I have no idea how it works, but I love it
Great to see Wavestation being brought into the...
...New Age!
8:48 - Wow, a Wavestate version of A Night on the Bare Mountain. Excellent.
Hell yeah? Hell yeah!
Eightch yes, you did a really great synth, congrats Eightch!
Epic!
12:25 Amazing !
The hardware synth of the year 2020 is already known
And then God said: Let there be wavestate.
@@Eightch Yes, its going to sell like crazy
And He saw that it was GOOOD!
Korg have their soft ware version of the wavestation which is a great way to check out wave sequencing but going off what I’m hearing here they have improved it quite a lot interms of filters and raw sound
and more wabe sequencing than the original, and tons more modulation
Early Dead Can Dance and Depeche Mode... what a beautiful machine.
@@Eightch Spot on. Cheers from Costa Rica.
Beautiful sounds
Wonderful & amazing demo !
Korg is always in the game and continue to surprising us !
So Perfect Circuit, what choice have you made : Argon8 or Wavestate ?
We haven't tried out the Argon8 yet so we can't really compare them but they both look like great wavetable synths.
Two totally different technologies. The Argon is wavetable synthesis. The Korg is essentially sample synthesis with super-sequencing. It’s basically a sample synth with the ability to sequence a sequencer. 🤯
The knobs are looking tasty, similiar to waldorf kyra or quantum when I see it right.
Hi love the wavestate video... question how many presets does it have?
Part Two, please!
A Korg almost unfamiliar of itself
La risposta di KORG!!!!........👍👍👍👍👍👍🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝🔝
Wow!!
i wanna to hear "das Boot" played on this synth!
I really love these sounds but I am afraid it will not be able to go microtonal which is a feature I need for some stuff I will be working on in the near future.
I have the wavestation vst,but the wavestate sounds different and a lot more better!
The vst is a bastard to program
@@annother3350 yeh i use softsynth(i have a few)only for the prsets, and hardware for handling new sounds
O....MY....KORG!
08:42 - Hans Zimmer, all in one small box...
Can I change out The knobs on the wavestate? Do they come off without breaking?
though I hate the nudging, this keyboard is everything I've ever wanted!
Can one do all the wavetable synth-ey stuff with it, that Waldorf has? It's pretty cool anyway, but if it could replace some of their fairly expensive stuff, not bad!
nice :-)
Great demo. Thanks for posting.
How was that New Year's resolution? Don't buy any more gear. Nah, that didn't last long. This is a definite buy for me. And looking at the price, it isn't too bad actually.
I have to admit Im having trouble not pulling the trigger on this one and I definitely dont need another synth lol
I've seen amazing sounds done with this machine, but I haven't seen much videos on this synth trying a classic subtractive approach...(I know it's not what it was made for but...just curious )
This thing looks deep!!! If they make a module version, I might be pulling the trigger.
Instant ambient master synth..
My thoughts exactly!! Just bought 1 today arrives Tuesday can’t wait!!
What kind of monitors are you using? Are you hooked in via XLR or RCA? Please go easy on me. I am a hardware newb and want to know what I should be looking at for at-home setups for casual play.
I.....want.....now.....
@@Eightch I agree with you. I hade the EX many years ago and I rellay liked it. Reason I sold it was the horrible UI. But this thing has an interface I could love and more bells and whistles added as a bonus.
Holy shitballs
this would be a great wavestation plugin upgrade
rarely noticeable Alone it could do very well as a soundtrack for many films.
Goddamn it I JUST ordered my hydrasynth.
@Analog Parasite TV Well there are a few things this has the edge on...being able to do rompler and cinematic style sounds is pretty cool, I like the 90's synth engine (although not as much as the more contemporary wavetable engine of the Hydrasynth)...also the 4-part multitimbrality and sequencer onboard is a major advantage compared to the Hydrasynth.
That being said, I'm not gonna cancel my Hydra because a lot of the Wavestate capabilities can be emulated with VST's, and I already have a few samplers, and I'm trying to start using software more in my setup for sampling as I migrate to DAW work...Hydrasynth's layout is also much better and less convoluted than this.
But I don't think one is necessarily better than the other, just depends on what features and sounds are more important to have in hardware form
fray3dendsofsanity, you should be grateful you did. just save your money and bide your time. people will start selling them second hand for lower prices in a matter of months.
Oh it's a wrap with this one buddy.
C minor is my favorite key too.
not D Dorian? shame on you =p
It fits the human hand perfectly
