I think you should do both garage and adventure stuff. we're here for it all. it's handy to see how you get things done. that takes up so much time why not share it. I think that helps others build too.
@@HarrisonSchoen I understand the concern of not wanting to be in a box. but as long as you do what you do then you dont have to worry about the pressures of it.
Always enjoy watching your adventure footages with your own build cayenne. I believe your passion is all about exploring different landscapes with your vehicles. So if you don't have enough resources on doing all these (and they are all very interesting TBH), just focus on one which you love the most.
I like both types of videos from you. I like the detailed over view with short clips of detail like the suspension install video since i have a cayenne and gives me an idea of what all I will need. Also seeing you out on the trail is incredible and makes me want to get out there.
in all honesty, garage content is what your audience would love to see since this is currently the chapter of life you're going through with rebuilding the pink pig (unless of course working on that is a really slow process). It doesn't have to been the whole channel, but I think we all would love to see updates more periodically.
Hi mate! No time no see! You have a Porscha BIG Problem!! 😅 I think you could sell the Pink Pig because of the time and labour on it. Excelent idea with the Trailer! I love the indoor projects and the Overland Parts you sell with discounts. Wish could help bro! U ROCK! ALLWAYS 😎💪👏
Can you give us info on that phone, garmin, electronic setup in the center dash? How is it all mounted? Custom? I can see there’s some RAM and maybe 67 design mount but that platform it all attaches to is cool
Amazing update. I know the feeling of too many projects all too well. Take care of yourself too man. PS Have you ever had to replace the struts/supports on the power hatch? Saw yours open without problems. Mine needs a helping hand from time to time.
Love your channel, i love your content. Maybe you can do a once a week shop Video and a once or more a week adventure videos. Just recently picked up a 2008 Cayenne S and want to slowly make it an off-road vehicle. Interested in where you would start first and in what order: wheels, bumpers, lift etc!!!!
I have 4 mercedes Vaneo's (I'm an enthusiast). I had the same idea as you, to make one into a trailer, but every garage I've been to, has advised me against it, because unless you intend to do a double axel trailer, then it just doesn't work, weight distribution wise. They used to do it with Mini's in the old days, but there're many unseen modifications, to make the whole balance work.
I can’t imagine the half trailer built out will weigh more than 2,500lbs with fuel tank, differential, engine, trans, seats and front end removed. Perfectly within the load rating of the tires/wheels and suspension that will be on it! My only concern is wanting to have trailer brakes on it!
We can motivate each other to finish our numerous Porsche projects before 2024. I have five, including my Cayenne S, to complete this year in my compact workshop. Let's stay focused and achieve our goals together!
Thanks for the video! I like both: shop and the outside adventures! It is nice to see what you are doing or have done to the cars and then nice to see how it goes on the adventures. My 2005 Porsche Cayenne Turbo didn’t come with a trailer hitch. Have you had experience with installing the Porsche hitch vs an aftermarket hitch? Do you prefer the Porsche hitch or aftermarket hitch?
Thank you for your input! I personally have no experience installing say a wire harness from a hitch, but a rear bumper with a hitch is 8 simple bolts if you just want to carry a spare back there. Reach out to Eurowise and I’m sure they will be happy to sell or send you a removed one from a car that bought one of their bumpers!
Do you like air suspension? Why would you change them for coil over? What’s the advantage? Be great to know as I’m looking at Cayennes to buy but not sure what to get.
With all your knowledge of Cayenne's, maybe you can help with my issue? I have a massively broken 955 turbo. I love this thing even if it haemorrhages my cash! One issue that really is getting to me is that when I had the battery replaced, I lost menu options onere is no longer the ability to change what types the dash, so th the car has! I also don't seem to have the options for a Bose sound system on the PCM 2.1 system. It is so minor I have not really looked into it yet. As for your content, it's amazing, I got the PIG before I knew about your channel. My idea was to overland it, but thus far, money and time and the fact I seem to have got a very broken one have stopped me from doing fun stuff. Maybe I'll hit up some green lanes this year when I get 18-inch wheels and new tyres. depends on how often it needs work done between now and the end of the year the jobs list is massive!
If you prefer not to document the build , perhaps you can just highlight the specific parts and answer the questions - why decided on them , how long it took , cost , where you sourced them , the gotcha's during assembly , and tips and tricks . Also, after doing the shake-down off-road test , answer the question - how much improvement did the mods make to the vehicle , what would you change if any ?
Love the shop content! But I understand wanting to be outside driving. I think a lot of us have one cayenne that we do basic stuff to, but we see ads all the time and wonder what it would be like if we went all out doing what you’re doing. By the way, we like the rants and opinions. We want to hear what is going on in your head. I know the editing would take forever, but your channel is like rich rebuilds.
They're from weather tech! I purchased from their site. Not incredibly happy with them as they can fall off or keep windows from opening, but it's really the only option for the cars!
I would highly advise against using a vehicle shell as a trailer. Especially one of these. What ends up happening is the rear axle is the only axle on the "trailer" which in turn puts most of the weight of the "trailer" on the tongue. Which in turn puts it all on the rear bumper of the tow vehicle. There's a reason why all trailers have an axle or 2 located fairly close to the center of the trailer to disperse load evenly. The driving/towing characteristics will be terrible and you'll regret all the work you put in to a custom trailer
Definitely something that I’m going to consider, and I’ll likely cut it a bit further back than the firewall to make most of the weight sit over the rear wheels. Likely will put a spare tire carrier on it to further push the weight back also.
Luv your stuff Harrison... My friend is getting some Eurowise Bushers for his Gen1 Cayenne,,, Would never have know about them if it wasn't for you.... THANKS MATE from AUS..... Keep up the excellent work...... Have enjoyed and learnt a lot from your VIDS.....
I think there’s plenty of documented builds on UA-cam and if you don’t like investing in the video/editing then maybe just do that every other month. I enjoy the walk arounds describing what was done. Some items you gloss over hardly describing any details about what was done. Example: how the dash plate was made and attached so your navigation/communication equipment and be mounted. I am setting up my 2015 diesel Cayenne for over landing. While some of your channels content applies to me, what your channel provides is inspiration and ideas how to apply what you’ve accomplished to my setup. The hardcore rock crawling is interesting to watch, its not what I enjoy doing to my car. Do what ya like to do and don’t get trapped into UA-cam economics of what viewer responses dictate in $$$.
I'd stay away from 2008. The rumor goes that porsche was using two different block manufactures up until manufacture date till around 10/08. One was doing the lokasil process correctly one was doing it incorrectly. Porsche caught onto it and switched to just the one manufacturer so if you're getting an S make sure you get a late model 2009 or newer. Or stick with v6 from what I've heard others say you don't notice a huge loss from the v6 but I haven't driven one yet to compare
You should split the channel into two. One focused on garage, builds, mechanical and all things Cayenne customization and have your suppliers sponsor this and bring in full time mechanic. Second channel will be all things Cayenne overland adventure related with great photos and help build the Cayenne culture with meetups etc. bring in more people to help.
If you don't want to be cooked in the garage, just enjoy life and go on adventures man. Don't blame you, it seems like a lot of fun, it just doesn't translate as well as content so the trail videos got repetitive for me. Still subscribed though. For me, it's not about the mechanic content. I find build breakdowns like this entertaining and I enjoy whitnessing the creative/expressive aspect of it. I think your builds got a great sense of style and I'm all for it. I didn't know you had so many builds. I would love to see some kinda makeover/build and maybe even flip type of video with the new one. You could explain some of the crucial components and upgrade mods in off-road cayanne builds. Mod install/Testing series could be a thing. I Would love to see updates on the pink pig. None of this necessarily full in-depth, just a blend of cinematic and breakdown and vlog format, at your own pace and style. I hope this helps.
You should definitely do shop videos. You will utilise your knowledge on cayenes and I think that many people want to buy these cars, and afraid of troubles. Also you are completely wrong about shop stuff being not interesting. Just see how much following overland content does (50-60k max) and how many people follow “b is for build”. You ca do small videos of mods, fixing Porsche issues etc.
You seem very stressed out. Nice projects. I have a question........ where do you derive your income from, in order to fund all of this ? Labour and garage time, are very expensive, unless you do it all yourself.
Precisely, I do it all myself! Buy the cayennes for fairly cheap. Work with brands, manage social media for Berg performance and berg peaks, and make money through ad revenue on social media!
