It took me 3 tries to get my disability. I tried to work while waiting to get help. I had bills to pay. I would sit and cry while trying to work and couldn't. I was making better money than I had in my life cleaning condos. I was proud of myself after getting a divorce and making money that was mine. Then one day I started having pain in my neck and back spasms. And went to hell from there.
Fibromyalgia cases have become much more difficult to win at Socail Security. Find out why and what strategies still work. #fibromyalgia #socialsecuritydisability #atlantalawyer #jonathanginsberg #disabilitylawyers #myalgia
I am 56 years old, have been sick with Fibromyalgia for 3 years. The site: fibromyalgia.cf really helped me in 3 weeks! I can now do activities that I could not do in my 20s, and no aches and pains! This is the most important thing I have experienced.
Fibromyalgia usually comes with depression, often due to trauma. My mother had it, and I have it and I have been in the emergency rooms several times getting shots, because my whole body is in screaming pain I also have a blood test done with clearly shows evidence of high inflammation 33% above normal. So, I guess it also depends on how many doctors have diagnosed and seen it for themselves first hand. It also makes you tired, with very poor concentration, and light sensitivity. IBS, Fibromyalgia, and depression, go hand in hand.
You might want to do a new video on fibromyalgia because there's alot to it then just pressure points i have it plus over 20 years ago i got my disability and I spoke on my own behalf to let them know right from the person what they are going through and how they are living. We also have alot of health problems and the pain too.
Great video, just viewed it. Thank you Mr Ginsberg! I have a severe case of Fibro (all trigger points except 2), along with Ehlers Danlos & Chiari Malformation. I have incredible notes from specialists. I made incredible money working for a top pharmaceutical co. It all came to a halt soon after my brain surgery in 2011. Moved from PA to FL because my body couldn't handle the cold weather. Attempted to work again in FL & failed. It's insane that 6yrs later I'm still fighting & on my 2nd application waiting for another hearing. I'm guessing the bad move I made was moving to FL, the disability capital? Hope my atty can get me a favorable decision this time. Thank you for all of your videos & hoping from what I learned, I can apply when I see the ALJ.
27 years with the disease have destroy my life, I lost the case multiple times and to be honest i do not think life is worthy to live, just waiting for my son to graduate from high school.
I totally understand...60 years old with fibromyalgia since my 20's. Awful pain, fatigue, etc., but still have to work to supplement my husband's job. It is either work or lose our home. It feels like torture most days.
I have been having fibromyalgia since 2010 with mixed connective tissue disease. I were bless to receive disability in one month and at first my doctor did not believe I would be approved.
I have very bad fibromyalgia but I choose to work I just take care. I'm always in pain and tired I'm 45 high achiever but I'm getting tired. I can't function slot of the time.
Opulence Phoenix same here! I have chosen to work because I manage the pain better when I'm working than when I'm resting, one thing for sure the pain is always there!
Chronic migraines since my teens and then comes the fibro... now severe. I'm 53. I was denied disability by a judge last August. My lawyer never got SSA my records. Spinal stenosis in the neck x2 places. Later august.. diagnosed by Rheumatologist and neuro/psychologist with severe Childhood C-PTSD related to the real pain somatic symptoms. Anxiety Depression. Cognitive. My case is in Appeals. I feel lost and hopeless knowing its only 10% chance. I am single. What do I do?
I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Selective IgA deficiency and heading to confirm possible Myasthenia Gravis and RA also have major depression, PTSD and panic and anxiety attacks and gastroparesis, having all these issues will help me win my disability? In my job they already disable me and asked me to fill the papers for SSDI.
Yes, all of those combined plus plenty of medical evidence should get you accepted. I also have a similar combination of illnesses as you. When I applied using only one or two of those illnesses, I kept getting denied. As soon as I listed ALL of my ailments, as well as seeing plenty of different doctors and specialists for each issue, I was approved immediately! On top of that, I was actually collecting unemployment when I was approved! They factored my unemployment benefits which was the maximum of over $400.00 a week at the time as a reason to not give me SSI as well as SSD, or I would have had both!
i dont believe all fibromyalgia is all the same i have fibromyalgia and have all the symptoms with fatigue fog cabt focus cant keep busy having sleeping disorders all that stuff also have major depression and anxiety but some have fibromyalgia and they seem fine like its not a big deal and that hurts to know i have all these problems and some dont have anything really going on smh i hate my life every day and others get to semi enjoy their lifes
FMS is a very frustrating condition and medical science does not have a full grasp of what it means or how to treat it. I'm sure it has made your life very difficult.
francisco4ben I hear you, I have fibromyalgia, and also was working as a medical assistant and yes other people do have fibromyalgia and they still enjoy their life where I had to quit working because of all the fibromyalgia symptoms and that's not fair. when I would chart patient I would ask them it effects their daily activities and they would say no. so I can understand where you are coming from.
I agree. But unfortunately depending on who's in charge of your case, not taking your meds may seem like you dont really need the help and that you're "faking it". I really do not trust most meds doctors prescribe because they make you SICKER!!! I Iived with RA, Type 2 Diabetes, Obstructive sleep apnea, Depression and anxiety, Obesity, Fibromyalgia, Diabetic Nerve Damage, CVS, CFS, OCD, PTSD, ABCDEFG ⬅️😄. Lol, so I stopped taking most of my meds and have gotten so much better healthwise overall. Lost about 130 lbs, reversed my Diabetes, etc. My fibromyalgia, on the other hand, still looms something terrible in my body. I'm on Dissability, and sometimes I'm so afraid of getting cut off because I dont take those poisoness medications!
That was an excellent video. I have a close friend who has fibro and she was denied SS. There is no doubt she is sick and has attempted to work several times but can't handle the physical requirements. I believe she has a strong case, however; she lives in Ohio. I assume you could not represent her due to the distance.
Thank you for this informative video! I hope you can answer a question. If applying for SSDI would it be helpful to send the following fibromyalgia SS ruling www.ssa.gov/OP_Home/rulings/di/01/SSR2012-02-di-01.html to the claims examiner or will they be aware of this information and evaluate the claim based on it. Thanks so much for all the great videos on SSDI, they are very helpful.
what if you have severe insomnia fibromyalgia possibly cancer hypertension 168 heart rate when you went to there doctors diarrahea constipation hallucinations the whole nine ards
Rick, have you ever had allergy testing? It can be done at primary care - when I found out I am allergic to a dairy protein called casein, I removed all obvious and hidden dairy from my diet and did a lot better. Just as your symptoms are typical co-conditions with Fibromyalgia, allergies are too. Also, sleep apnea. Do not give up, and kudos to you as a man with Fibromyalgia for speaking up. I wish more men would. It would get rid of the stereotype of Fibromyalgia being only a middle aged women's condition. Truth is, even young children can suffer Fibromyalgia. It is horrible nerve pain, burning & crushing fatigue, headaches, etc. But definitely try getting milk out of your diet- the diarrhea will cease pretty quickly, but also google hidden sources of dairy. Depression goes along with Fibromyalgia, because - well, hey...try being in nearly constant pain, not be able to be active etc and depression will follow. Then be unable to pay bills because of missed work and tons of medical tests, and there's anxiety. Not to mention all the ANS issues of Fibromyalgia. (Autonomic Nervous System). This is not imaginary, it is real. The World Health Organization AND American Medical Association see Fibromyalgia as a real illness. Maybe the judges need to update their actual information and not just go by their personal FEELINGS as they preside in their appointed positions. I'm lucky enough to have two conditions that uninformed people think aren't real. So fun.lol And add to those ear ringing/tinnitus. I have found the conditions infuriating and fascinating. I will not give up and I will not stop speaking up about the issues of these conditions. I hope that medical science will find a cure. I think they're getting closer every year. We must not stop asking for a cure.
no i have a condition called morvans syndrome the medical community is calling fibromyalgia which really erks me!!!It was something they treated and cured now they are letting it run rampant and calling it fibromyalgia until it gets to the point were you cant sleep at all!
+Darla i have fibromyalgia for 27 years old, I remember my life started changing when i was only 10 years old and destroyed my life, I have try meds and all im just getting worse and know psycho lots of side effects and mentally worse
rick mytys Do you mean Marfans Sydrome? Pretty sure I have heard of that, is the the condition that makes the person very tall with long thin limbs and fingers? Not sure if I spelled that right but I have heard of it and it is definitely NOT Fibromyalgia, you're right.
thanks for informative video,. Will social security be provided to us citizens living outside usa? If so, which state attorney should I seek help from.? thankd
I have Fibromyalgia as well as an autoimmune disease, Mixed Connective Tissue Disease. I would love to see a video for those of us with autoimmune diseases and our likelihood of getting SSD. MCTD is a rare autoimmune disease, but has A LOT of characteristics of Lupus.
Tina Miller i have been probable mctd for 11 years was treated for it with plaquanil then dr changed his mind n said fibro. im still convonced it is mctd
Jonathon G. do you know anything about applying for SSDI for Interstitial Cystitis? (not only applying for Interstitial Cystitis.. fibro and others) do you have any helpful advice to share? thank you so much for your time.
Tina G. This is late, but what were your symptoms at first and til this day? I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 11 years ago at 23 and I had already had hashimotos thyroiditis since I was 12. I now have what my physician believes and labs show may be another autoimmune diseases creeping up and it's either Lupus or MCTD. I also thought it may be EDS. I also have early RA. I have not attempted disability because I'm ashamed of what others think. It's so hard what we deal with and I have people in my life who do not understand that it would not be easy for me to work a full time job again right away as I've been at home for 3 years finishing school and taking care of my family. I want to go back part time atleast but with as many flare ups as I have and migraines I don't see how I would not be let go . I worked since I was 16 so it's hard for me to say I'm not going to try again at nearly 35. I have almost got my Bachelor's in Crisis counseling ;Psychology major and that has taken time due to my illnesses. Anyways it's extremely sad and difficult what we all go through. Hope you are well. 🙏 one more thing , what has helped you with being able to just function, and not have as much pain? I have got to get my thyroid disease under control for one since that can mess with a lot, but even when it's in a good state, my other illnesses keep me in bed a lot. I've never been on anything stronger than a tramadol, but the Rheumatoid specialist laughed at that and thinks I need something else but all the meds have extreme side effects. I hope you see this and are doing well.
I wish someone can help me i just got back from my neurologist i got my results of dmd what i do next ? I need my benefits never worked didnt finish school bc of this condition can someone plz help me what to do next im thinkin goin tmm to the ssi to open the case cuz i got my results back
I recently had a hearing and there was a vocational expert there. I have fibromyalgia, occipital neuralgia, IBS, mood disorder and a few other things -_- I have done everything medically over the years with pain specialist & see a rheumatatologist regularly. I'm 45. So, my question is the VE said i could not due my former work (B2B Sales - 15 years) and judge asked the 1 hypothetical question but asked if this person was 5 years younger (than me) could this person do the only 3 jobs the VE had given to the hypo and the VE said no. Why did the judge ask for a hypo with a person 5 years younger? Is that a fair comparison?
Social Security Disability videos No, it has been 3 years. He only asked this question with then adding needing to lay down at job and missing x amount of days. The VE said no these 3 jobs she cannot due and then the judge said no more questions and they VE and judge were joking about 1 job ever letting someone lay down for an hour as I left. It was kind of quick at that end of the hearing. I just wondered why compare to a 40 year old when I'm 45.
Eddie, I am aware of the FM/a test and the RNA test - but neither of these are widely accepted enough to move the meter at SSA - www.painnewsnetwork.org/stories/2018/3/12/new-blood-test-launched-for-fibromyalgia
I have been denied twice, I hired the peoples Advocate Of America and they are not believing and telling me that if a person with legal can work I can work. I have Lyme, fibro, IBS, depression. I have attempted to work and was fired due to my concentration. Please help me, what should be my next step I was denied twice. I am at the end of my rope. Pain Management at Cleveland Clinic diagnosed mine.

Anyone that has Fibro has gone to dozens of doctors before being finally diagnosed. The best way is a rheumatologist.
I would agree with you.

I dont think you have to be forced to take medicine to prove your sick.

What you think about the blood test called fm/a test they telling me it's 99.3% accurate if people have fibromyalgia
