Changes to REAL ID rollout
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 жов 2024
- Federal enforcement is set to begin in May 2025, but the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) just proposed a more flexible approach to the rollout, hoping to now achieve full enforcement by May 2027.
"Have you thought about getting your REAL ID?"
"No. Happy with the passport."
FYI, passports _are_ REAL ID compliant.
This was such a need for the security of the country that it will take 20+ years to full enact/enforce.
What’s the point of “Real ID”?
@@BenMonares so they dont hijack planes and cant take explosive past TSA lines.
@@snaht1 that’s what the metal detectors are for
@@BenMonares they want real id to solve this because real id people can not commit crime
How can anything be secure with countless people entering the US with open borders? Lack of enforcement and no harsh consequences for getting caught illegally entering the US. If sent back they just try again. People can work for cash, beg, be homeless, get fake credentials and voila!…….. living in US illegally and can even get a driver’s license and vote. Try doing that in another country and see how that works. They will deport you and blacklist you from entering country. We are a nation of immigrants……
Just fill out your papers and wait your damn turn! We are turning into the Soviet Union. Communism sucks and does not bring happiness.
I have had mine for over 4/5 yrs now.
just renewed mine now.
What they fail to mention is that the Real ID is also necessary for walking into federal facilities.
Why is that noteworthy when they’re talking about an airport in TSA?
@@Kevindevin7 Because they're complaining about the rollout, and using a terrible example of why people should obtain it (i.e. Flying). It gives viewers the impression that it's only important for travel, when in fact it goes beyond that.
I went into a federal building and was never asked for my ID... NEVER!
I don’t have it. When my drivers license came up for renewal I could renew on line and have it mailed to the house. Or gather up a bunch of paperwork and drive down to the DMV and wait in line. So there you go.
I just got a renewal $130. For real & reg license. Sounds like revenue generating scheme to me…
I paid nothing to get a real ID which is part of my drivers license in Virginia.
@@tonytony2546In Virginia it is a one time $10 fee on top of the driver's license.
Why do you need a real ID if you have a passport to me it's ridiculous and it's a waste of money and time
I doubt you travel domestically (with no international travel beyond) with a passport and if you do thats stupid
Forget the real ID. Use your passport.
This is what happens when you reward bad behavior and laziness
TSA and DMV need to just send everyone a new RESL ID card and stop wasting our time. You have all our information already, we don’t need to give it again. Just make us them and get it over with.
too many existing fake ID's out there, this would be pointless.
Interviewer: "Do you have a REAL id?"
Lady: "I do not yet"
2 minutes later
Same lady: "i think they should have figured this out a long time ago"
so daft its unbelievable.
If you carry a passport or passport card, you don’t need to get one.
Come visit a DMV in NC and you'll see why.
A few years ago a young female employee asked for my ID when I was buying lunch using my credit card, I showed her my USPS ID badge and she replied.
“I’m sorry, I need to see a government issue ID” 😂😂
Florida has had them for years. PA has them what’s up.
I recently had a tsa agent refuse to accept my dod issued military id as valid accepted form
Hope you're not expecting Trump to help you! You knows how he feels about the military!
Call the manager
My wife and I both have passports, passport cards, AND Global Entry (and enhanced ID cards). On a recent flight, my wife used her Global Entry card at the TSA Precheck gate (TSA Precheck is included with Global Entry Entry) to confirm ID and the agent handed her a flyer to remind her to get a real ID. He didn’t deny her, but seemed to imply that she was going to need a ‘Real ID’ in the future.
I seriously don’t know how we could possibly need any more “Real ID” than what we already have.
FYI - Global Entry is sooo worth it. On our way back into the country, we went straight to the Global Entry kiosks (we only had carry on bags), it took our pictures, a green light flashed, and he headed straight out of the airport. No stopping for passport checks, no interview, no fingerprints, no bag check, no waiting in line! Nothing!
Another government ‘ Ready, Fire, Aim’ debacle…..
I can never afford to travel by air. My fake ID is good enough.
They care so much about the real ID yet no ID is needed to vote.
Most people don't fly, maybe only 15% fly regularly. I see no need for this enhancement for most the population.
You literally do need either a state or drivers license to vote, what do you mean?
Real id is just state license but upgraded to meet federal standard. All states now issue licenses with real ID ….
Voting is a right. Traveling by airline is not.
@@Kevindevin7drivers license and real id aren’t a same thing
This Real ID is a joke! Criminals always win
Security?!?! Please don’t make me laugh! You should see the DMV employees process these real ID.
Can’t imagine any identification document to be More Real than a Passport.
Although I live in Australia, I use My Irish Passport Card as My everyday Real identification document.
A gold star is for Real ID….
They’re not even trying to be subtle anymore 🤦♂️
So real ideas only for the United States citizens right
Try again!
Yet voting is not even close to secure. Kind of ridiculous.
This is so unnecessary lol
Damn shame. Just get it over with. It’s a security issue! WTH!
Still waiting to get mine. First one misdelivered , waiting 6 weeks so far for replacement. Ridiculous.
the main goal is discriminatory, to be able to distinguish citizens from non-citizens, although it seems like a moot point, at least in IL, where non-citizens (even though they are lawful, permanent residents) already have a distinguishing restriction strip on their DL; it may make more sense for other states that don’t already have this type of segregation system in place; the “real ID” is useful for visiting military bases, certain federal buildings and certain job pre-screening requirements
If I can legally drive from coast to coast with my current ID, I think it's real. I just put a gold star sticker on it so I'm good to go.
I paid for a Real I D, and they issued me, a Regular one.
If feels like a money grab when you already have a passport
If they want to get more people to sign up, make the airlines reject tickets sold without one. No one wants to go to the airport, ticket in hand and find you can't get to your plane because you don't have Read ID.
This is so lame! I rush myself to get my real ID and now they said they aren’t ready.
I'm hoping not having it will keep me out of federal prisons.
Yes I need
For God sakes I’ve done this four times in three different states. It’s not difficult if you haven’t been able to get your real ID at this point then that’s on you.
Well either way it’s pointless
Sounds like you’re on the lam.
some people will wait till the last moment.
Don't need one if you don't fly by public carrier.
why doesn't tsa trust regular State Issued ID's
I have a better idea. Get rid of real ID
next will be a microchip in you
I don’t see what the big deal is about getting a real ID. Just go get the ID and be done with it. Is that simple? just make it mandatory by the date. They have set in 2025.
Kick the can, just kick the can, keep kicking the can
Getting my popcorn ready for November 6th...
I don’t see what the big deal is about getting a real ID. Just go get the ID and be done with it. Is that simple?
aint nobody got time for that.
I see no need for me to get one of these. We don't need the security theater of TSA.
The very few times I've flown the TSA decided to give me the fast pass for free I think because they wanted to try to incentivize me flying more and skipping the lines. They didn't talk to me or anything. If that's possible to do, you can tell there's something silly afoot.
If the real ID is required by law to be needed, then you need to provide it for free. Untill then, i won't pay extra for this booty real ID.
In Texas, I didn't have to pay anything extra, just had to renew my drivers licenes which was already set to expire. The cost has been about the same, and my new ID came with a gold star.
@@davidleduc8536 Not in my state it's triple the regular driver's license price $42 and further documents. I'm not interested in giving the government more paperwork.
Driver’s licenses are required by law to drive. You have to pay for a driver’s license 😅
@@RudieObiaswell no sht but the thing is it cost an extra fee for a “Real ID” which it’s dumb
Fuck real ID, Washington State denizens can't get a drivers license because of this stupid law.😡
Washington state hands out drivers licenses to illegal aliens.
I traveled extensively when I was younger. I have no intension of getting "A REAL ID" I will renew my drivers license as edicted by the local government, I do not have a passport and as I have no intension of traveling abroad, I don't find spending money on an unnecessary item being a priority. If they choose to exclude me from buildings and other activities so be it, discrimination will never be truly gone. At least until we change the job description of elected officials.
More security theater. Punish the law abiding citizens because of what criminals do. Keep voting for that government overreach in the blue state.
Real ID is federal. Passed in 2005. Under a Republican Administration
@@RudieObias And it was red pilled conservative Republican voters that demanded that Congress enact the law in part to prohibit undocumented imigrants from flying domestically.
@@RudieObiastrue but the Real ID sht is pointless
I don't have $ to travel
