ENLIGHTENMENT:
Of those who have experienced a state of “oneness” and are free from mental suffering, there are EXTREMELY rare souls who are spiritually-enlightened (at least to such an extent to be worthy of the label). If the term were to be taken literally, a person may be permeated or imbued in light to varying degrees, just as the ocean is more illumined by direct sunlight than it is by the reflected light of the moon.
So, when a layman thinks of an enlightened soul, he or she typically imagines a person who knows what life is “all about”, or has “seen the light of God” (metaphorically-speaking). Simply having an awakening experience is quite far-removed from being an enlightened sage.
Every person who has ever lived can be RANKED according to their level of enlightenment. Even if one understands that there is more to existence than gross matter and localized consciousness, one could claim to be more enlightened than a gross materialist. Therefore, somewhere in the world resides a person who is the most ignorant fool on earth, and at a different location one may find the most enlightened sage extant. Like practically everything in life, enlightenment is relative. Even “complete” enlightenment is not an absolute state. Even the most educated person alive has the capacity to increase his knowledge. Not even Divine Incarnations are all-knowing, I would posit.
If one were to approach a rocket scientist, one would expect him to fully understand his field of expertise. He would understand advanced physics and chemistry, and know precisely how to design and launch spacecraft into outer-space.
Similarly, an enlightened sage is one who understands LIFE. He knows how this phenomenal world came to be, how the law of action and reaction actually works, how to become liberated from temporal sufferings, and should be able to logically answer any question posed to him by a spiritual seeker (what to speak of highly-intelligent members of the scientific and philosophical communities).
An enlightened person has eschewed all belief systems and relies solely on objective, VERIFIABLE concepts, knowing that even the most accurate concepts are relative, and that the ultimate reality is Absolute. Read Chapter 03 of “F.I.S.H” to appreciate this philosophical foundation. A laconic way to describe how it feels to be a fully-enlightened (and awakened) person is thus: imagine yourself (that is, your waking-state persona) entering a dream and interacting with the dream characters, giving no regard to any uncomfortable situation, including possible death, as you know that you cannot die. That is similar to how a genuine sage relates to this seemingly-real creation - continuously at peace with what is.
A fully-enlightened person is almost invariably a member of the Holy Priesthood (a prophet, to be more precise), and NECESSARILY possesses a genius or near-genius level of intelligence. “Necessarily”, because, as previously stated, he is required to competently respond to even the most difficult questions and conundrums posed to him by others (otherwise, he can hardly claim to be a fully-enlightened individual). Imagine approaching a so-called “enlightened sage”, and after asking him the most profound questions imaginable, he responds “Umm...I don't know!”
On the other hand, even the village idiot can receive awakening experiences. However, to be liberated from suffering, one normally requires at least an average level of intelligence, because understanding the nature of suffering (as opposed to mere pain) is a rather intellectual concept.
Needless to say, an enlightened person adheres to a strict code of morals and ethics, such as the avoidance of illicit sexual activity, gambling, intoxicants, and animal products. To be fair, there are many examples of persons who seem to be very awakened and/or enlightened, yet engage in base pursuits such as those mentioned above, due to their genetic make-up and their conditioning. However, this category is devoted to highly-evolved beings who LITERALLY radiate holiness - those who even the vilest of souls can recognize to be elevated far above ordinary, animalistic humanity. Sometimes, those vile souls far more easily recognize enlightened saints than do persons who are supposedly spiritually-advanced, as when the demoniacs, called “Legion”, instantly identified the Divine Avatar, Lord Jesus Christ, as the Son of the Most High God, whilst the Jewish high-priest at the time considered The Perfect Person Himself to be naught but a ominous rabble-rouser and a blasphemer.
It seems logical to assume that any person who purports to be a fully-enlightened soul must be morally-upright. Therefore, those who profess to be enlightened individuals, yet who actively support objectively-evil ideologies or practices, such as socialism, communism, democracy, feminism, homosexuality, and carnism, are of no practical benefit to society (quite the opposite, in fact - they are a DETRIMENT to society)
The devilish character, known as “Satan” in the Judeo-Christian tradition, seems to have been quite enlightened about spiritual reality, yet I'm not sure if anyone would call him an “enlightened being”. To be rather forthright, a fully-enlightened sage will accept the conceptual framework of this Holy Scripture, “A Final Instruction Sheet for Humanity”, as being a very accurate description of life as it is (or as it could be or should be).
It is far far preferable for a guru to teach impeccable moral precepts, yet have a flawed understanding of metaphysics, than vice versa.
Out of a billion persons, there may be one or two enlightened masters. These self-realized world-teachers are almost TOTALLY shunned by society, for, as Lord Jesus Christ once proclaimed: “I am the enemy of the world because I am telling the world that it is evil” (paraphrased).
It is extremely easy to identify a truly-enlightened spiritual master: The first question one should ask a prospective guru is "What is the ideal form of government?". If he acknowledges monarchy to be the only legitimate form of governance, then ask "Does free-will exist for any living creature?". If he responds in the negative, then the chances are that he is an authentic guru, assuming, of course, that he is a strict vegan, and is despised by most all of humanity. If he has more than a couple of dedicated disciples, he is most probably teaching something less than Truth.

But when it comes to correct understanding of Vedic metaphysics Sankhya which combines Advaitha (non dual Shiva) and Dvaitha (dual shakhti) - You (conscious and immanent athma) are (already) that (conscious, transcendent and omnipresent divine) regardless of whether you realize it or not because without the conscious and immanent athma or divine nothing can exist. False identification with thoughts and body is just an illusion due to 5 senses experienced by the athma even though it is NOT the doer.

Swamiji, can we define that as freedom from duality? Freedom from limited jnanam? Not only Sorrow or Dukha, Sukha is also a bandhan, an yearning for it. There is Swa Ananda when these are not present.

Swamiji there is a story in Kena Up of Devas with “I” ego and Yaksha. They don’t have birth and death cycle. Are they liberated? If not what is liberation for them?

Both experience and knowledge are important in hindu dharmic tradition. Remember, experience without correct knowledge is like a blind man and it always leads to wrong conclusions like buddhist nirvana claim. Of course, knowledge without experience is like a barren land.

The cause for dukha is not always desire. It can be lot of different things. If a new born child of a poor mother is born with bone cancer ..she has no trishna but it's immense dukha.

St John of the Cross has written about it. For me it was the period which happened after I realized that nothing in the world could possibly make me truly happy, but before I realized that I am the self-luminous light of the Universe. If you think about it, it's pretty depressing when one realizes that everything one used to do for pleasure--particularly for me chasing sensual pleasures and buying new stuff (multiple cars, homes, motorcycles, etc.)--all of that was absolutely empty of any permanent happiness, and furthermore would eventually become the cause of suffering. I struggled for a long time, even contemplating suicide. That was my dark night of the soul.

The Bible says all lives are within one life just as the Vedas say. It's the reason behind the Golden rule that's found in all the major religions. Every life is a reincarnation of the one Life. 🙏
Abrahamic religions have no concept of reincarnation.
It's my view that the Bible tells us of our individual journey from the beginning to learning to overcome the Earth. Christ is the Rock of Ages that holds all lives told in Exodus and the song Rock of Ages cleft for me, I want to hide myself in thee. I think to be in Christ is the same as Samadhi. Rev. 1-5 "Jesus Christ is the faithful witness and the first begotten of the dead. Jesus is the faithful witness the part of us that is aware of God and our true self. Christ is the first begotten of the dead. The Revelation of Jesus Christ to St John tells how John was resurrected from the dead to be in Christ and the new Heaven and the New Earth.

@@indianmilitary My view is the Bible tells us heaven is the place where things are decided and the Earth is where our decisions appear "our Fathers will be done on Earth as it is in heaven" is what is always happening. Jesus is our awareness of the Father Rev1-5 "Jesus Christ is the faithful witness and the first begotten of the dead". Jesus said, In my father's house there are many rooms, I will go and make a place for you. To me this says clearly that our awareness is Jesus as the Atman who is in reality Brahman but must ascend to realize this position on the day of judgement or atonement where Jesus will sit at the right hand of the Father who is us.
The story of Joshua and the walls of Jericho is the same as the Revelation of Jesus Christ to St John. The walls came down after blowing the trumpets for seven days and the people inside were revealed and "killed" to be gone forever. The people are like the voices in our heads or what we see in the world and believe is reality but is really the appearance of what we believe reality to be. The people are as unfruitful branches that are pruned from the vine and piled in a heap and burned. This is how I believe the Bible describes what hell is. The seven churches are the same as the seven energy centers in Eastern religions. Hell is where what is purged from these centers goes. The Bible refers to the sleeping and dead interchangeably and this means to believe that we are the effect of the Earth or the world we see. This is what is meant to live in sin and the wages of sin being death. Elijah rose a child from the dead by looking into his eyes and holding his hands, the boy sneezed 7 times and was healed or made whole. It seems there are seven different kinds of ways that we can be drawn into believing that we are dependant upon the Earth for survival or comfort. We must come to believe that we are the cause of everything. It seems one school of belief is that we can overcome our delusion and the other believes we can't. I think we can but I can't prove it. 🙏
What after liberation?
Swamiji Pranam….you have already flashed the most subtle answer to this question. In one of your lectures on Moksha you have referred to Shri Shankaracharya’s Aparoksha anubhuti which says that in reality freedom from Birth-Death is not possible otherwise one would have immediately died after Enlightenment, which never happens. So what i understand is on the plane of transactional reality the cycle of birth-death, sorrow-happiness would eternally exist but post enlightenment we shall attain the serenity of mind by attaining Moksha which is beyond the perception of body-mind-intellect. Is that correct?
This statement is wrong from the perspective of Advaita Vedanta. Liberation from birth and death (samsara) is possible and the ultimate goal of human life. The cycle of birth and death is not eternal, but a result of ignorance (avidya) and attachment (karma). The enlightened person does not die immediately after enlightenment, but lives on until the exhaustion of the past karma (prarabdha) that has given rise to the present body. The enlightened person is not affected by the body or the world, but remains in the state of bliss, consciousness, and existence, which are the attributes of the ultimate reality (brahman). The enlightened person attains final liberation (videhamukti) after dropping the body, and does not return to the cycle of birth and death
@@lordvishnu3098 It’s difficult to get convinced with the fact that karma can be exhausted post enlightenment. It’s an eternal cycle on the transactional grounds.
But on transcendental plane, the Master says : जब जनम ही नहीं तो मृत्यु काहेका? I have not even born once, I am not even born now and therefore there is no question of death for me. Once we are deeply rooted with this highest spiritual understanding that I am Everfree Unborn Undying Unchanging Infinite Witness Consciousness, then MOKSHA is at our hands Here & Now. We then don’t even need to wait for enlightenment, that shall happen in it’s own course of time. Again, the freedom we shall attain post ‘E’ would be nothing new, we shall realise that it was always there with us right from the beginning, and the cycle of life & death, happiness & sorrow are just floating like various waves in our vast ocean of consciousness. At this witness point we can say the law of karma nullifies and cycle of birth & death seizes.

Swami ji, will you clear my one doubts ?.After our Moksha , where we (atma) will be stay ?.
Weather we will merge with parabrahma (broken pot air merges with, out side air)or it will remain as it is (in the state of atma)? Or after some time (after so many chatru ugas), weather it will start once again comes to birth and death cycle?. Or it will take the birth, if it wishes to take birth?.
Or it will stay with in gods king dom?. Swamiji, please clear my doubts.
After liberation Our aatma will stay in moksha also known as Siddhalaya... It will remain as aatma for ever and theres nothing there in moksha but just peace and happiness it will never start the cycle of rebirth again

Multiple life?, Cycles of life
Relate this concept to the reality of nature . Electrons cycle around the proton , planets move around d their stars, star move around in their own cycle , day and night a cycle, seasons are cyclic.
This explains the creation itself is cyclic.
Hence, the living being also follow the cyclicity of birth and death. Death occurs only to the Sthoola shareera or the body, which was entirely from the materials of this earth right from the egg and sperm. Compare this to hardware of a computer. The sookshma Shareera is the operating system or OS, and the kaarana Shareera is ....May be the application software, both of which are not created out of material.

Remaining as Brahman-isolated from prakriti without any conscious-experiences defeats the entire purpose the jagat was manifested - conscious experiences. It isn't even possible to remain eternally as Brahman-isolated from prakriti because that's what we were (and still are), yet what happened? Samsara. Therefore, annihilating the sukshma sharira just resets the process of Samsara. Real Moksha is knowing your true nature and going to a better world than this one, like Vaikuntha etc.
I must respectfully disagree with your characterization of moksha as “annihilating the sukshma sharira”. As an Advaitin, I recognize that our sukshma sharira is given to us by Ishvara, as is the entirety of jagat, which is nothing but a manifestation of Ishvara. That which is given by Ishvara cannot be annihilated by any individual. Moksha, for an Advaitin, is the recognition that we are never apart from Ishvara, while samsara is living a life with the mistaken belief that we are apart from Ishvara. Vaikunta, for an Advaitin, is a manifestation of Ishvara as well. So, we could choose to pretend to be apart from Ishvara in this world before recognizing our oneness with Ishvara upon reaching Vaikunta, or we could choose to realize our oneness with Ishvara right here, right now and dwell in the limitlessness of our true nature. Advaitins just vote for the latter approach to moksha.
@@rsr9200 and I also disagree with you because sukshama sarira is not our true self but a bondage that cause rebirth and suffering from physical pains of this world such as old age, diseases and pain of death the real moksha destroy our 3 bodies ( sthula, suksham and karana) and remain in the state of pure consciousness for eternity 🕉️

Ever heard of Karma or cause and effect. Collective karma depends on the Yuga. In Kaliyuga, it was very high (before 2012 december). Dwapra Yuga has started now. Dharma is rising again. Awareness of people about dharma and adharma have definitely improved when compared to the past. But the tug of war between dharma and adharma will always continue which eventually leads to good or dharmic outcome. It is explained in the form of a metaphor called 'Samudra Mandhan" in Vedas.
So u can lie or twist words to explain moksha ?

How can one be completely liberated yet at the same time serve at the pleasure of the Lord? If you're implying merging into the Lord, then how can one maintain its unique essence?
If by the term Lord, the Ishvara of Advaita is meant, then our service is nothing but the will of the Lord being expressed through our body-mind-sense complex, which itself is a manifestation of the Lord. With the recognition that the Lord pervades the servant, the served, and the service, comes liberation from our false sense of separation from the Lord, which then enables us to realize our identity with the limitless nature of the Lord.
@@rsr9200 Yes, but if we are the expression if the Lord's will then why is there an attempt being made to disown this manifestation? One can realize that he\she is a manifestation of Lord's will yet retain his\her uniqueness. This uniqueness can only be maintained by periodic renewals since pain is a much better mechanic than pleasure.
@@Ananias329 Since everything is Ishvara’s manifestation, an Advaitin cannot disown anything because they cannot call anything their own in the first place. Of course, an Advaitin can marvel at Ishvara’s glory manifesting itself as a vast world of seemingly unique individuals and other beings. That is the Lord’s power of maya, which Advaitins can and do revel in.

Also, it seems to me that aiming for a constant “Meh!” state of mind might be advantageous to “WOW! WOW!” since the latter may be difficult to maintain during deep sleep 😉.

You have not experienced Kaibalya mukti yet. You are expressing not your own views. The views has been mentioned thru the various an ancient book of Hindu philosophy. Moksha is not joke. It is very serious subject and it is very important part of Shristi. During the practice of moksha, if someone is capable and passed all procedure then you will get Moksha by Shiva ji. The ultimate goal of mankind is liberation. Freedom of misery and sorrow is not moksha. The moksha is freedom of cycle of born and death. During the process of Moksha it is absolutely merge your Atma into nirakar Brahma is called Moksha. Please do not mixed up. To get Moksha thru Shiva ji and process of Moksha is completely two different things. Freedom of sorrow and source of happyness is not moksha. It is a state before get moksha. With out interview with Shiva Ji you will not get Moksha. Moksha provider is only Shiva ji neither anyone can provide Moksha.

Nirvana is not ultimate spiritual freedom. It is freedom from birth-death-rebirth cycles on this material world. After Nirvana one does not have to be born on this material world but life will continue on astral and spirit worlds through astral and causal bodies.
Ultimate spiritual freedom is after one gets liberation on causal world.
Sir plz can you answer my one query here ?? I heard from someone that after getting moksha the soul is free for only lifetime of one creation ..and after that the soul is reborn again in another creation ..so is it true ??
