Rightly said, "The sculpture is already complete within the marble block, before I start my work. It is already there, I just have to chisel away the superfluous material." We are that - we just need to scrape off our false ego built conditioning...
True, but the image of scraping hard marble is not the appropriate one. If we exert effort to eliminate the ego, it simply becomes stronger. Only deep effortless rest can transcend either thinking or ego. This is my experience and that of my many meditation clients. Effort will always backfire.
Even though I am not an enlightened one, I can consider myself fortunate and blessed just to hear Swami Sarvapriyananda's words and understand them.

Sorry. There is no such thing called enlightenment. Those who meditate everyday for years they develop a kind of mind state which is obviously different than regular people’s mind status. It is just a psychological state which edges on pathology.
Just be NORMAL is gift.
Don’t force to enlightenment status. Help others and help humanity. Don’t just talk.
But a body can not be mind, and mind can not be a spirit. Spirit is something which is not perceived by mind. When mind realises spirit, it is known as enlightenment. In fact mind is zero. So enlightenment is not just a state of mind, rather spirit. Rather than using the term enlightenment, it is better to use realisation..
Humanity is not ultimate goal. Currently you are is state of avidya/ignorance. So, Self realisation is for jigyasu.
Yes, after meditation mind becomes pure and true knowledge comes that we are unconditionally happy, we don't need external things to be happy. Happiness is our real nature. Enlightenment is for mind. After meditation mind becomes pure.

I am always amused with the Advaitins who take the Bhagavat-gita as an authority and cite it, but when the Supreme Brahman says we all have our eternal individuality, they skip it. Yes, some of the examples are poor like being a raindrop that merges with the ocean...when Brahman is all there is now. There is no merging, no becoming, no progress, etc.

In fact it is better to keep What is Enlightenment as a secret. If someone explains what is Enlightenment... We don't want to accept the simple explanation about Enlightenment... though it is really very very simple.
But you did not explain why you think this should be a secret. My counter is the following argument: if knowledge is kept secret, then those who are ready for the knowledge will be denied it. That can't be good, just as it is not good for a small child to be denied the ability to read or calculate.
After enlightenment, you do the best you can to help the ones around you.
This longing to help others fades away after a few days because it becomes unnecessary to do so... there is no point in doing so whilst that realization sets in soon after your light bulb has switched on...

Mostly they don't want to be helped.. Especially If the price is giving up the insistence on believing to a limited individual. But it's your nature to be Love, its not really an effort to talk truth, radiate a benign presence in all interactions and do what there is to do for the welfare of 'others'. Afterall, it's all you, all your self.
My view is your presence itself is a blessing, even without any 'philosophy'.. This benign fearless presence that sees all is divine, it's magnetic.

Peace that passeth understanding
I feel like a person who observes pain like a simple causal thing that occurs as a result of some endeavour, smiling being peace.
After enlightenment we become more aware about the nature of things and ourselves and basically we see what is behind the scenes as if looking at everything from a mountain summit, however, even after enlightenment some character qualities such as anger, frustration, disappointment, need for love will remain but not as powerful and plentiful as before the enlightenment phase.

Byron Katie has a "method" that helps frame or put our fears in to perspective giving us a way to manage them so to speak. As she puts it, we don't lose the thoughts... the thoughts lose us. Enlightenment is not very worldly practical! :)

For me, enlightenment is the disappearance of the I Am. After enlightenment life appears to go on without knowledge. You can only be what you cannot not be, prior to or post-enlightenment.

As someone who is enlightened, I can say that the ego will never disappear on one’s own effort- it can only (in an instant) go away by grace- and in that moment Brahman knows Brahman and the jiva-jagat-Ishvara triad becomes extinct.

He looked at the world and all the people and beings in it completely differently, as he realised theres only one consciousness. Like an infinity mirror. All different expressions of the one consciousness separating a part of itself from itself in order to experience itself. what is connection between eshvaran (Lord of the Universe ) and Enlighted one?
Here are some interesting answers that Paul Brunton elicited from Bhagavan (|Sri Ramana) on Iswara and his role in devotees’ lives:
PB - Question: Is there a separate being Iswara who is the rewarder of virtue and punisher of sins? Is there a God?
Bhagavan: Yes.
PB- Question: What is he like?
Bhagavan: Iswara has individuality in mind and body, which are perishable, but at the same time he also has the transcendental consciousness and liberation inwardly.
Iswara the personal God, the supreme creator of the universe really does exist. But this is only true from the relative standpoint of those who have not realised the truth, those people who believe in the reality of individual souls. From the absolute standpoint the sage cannot accept any other existence than the impersonal Self, one and formless.
Iswara, God, the creator, the personal God, is the last of the unreal forms to go. Only the absolute being is real. Hence, not only the world, not only the ego, but also the personal God are of unreality. We must find the absolute - nothing else. (Conscious Immortality 1st ed, pp. 7, 8, 10, and 180-1)
Enlightenment is English word which can have maney meaning ...this comes from a single clear word One gets " "mukthi "from mirthu .
MUKTHI means mind which is detached from all kind desires from fickle mind tries to enjoy , which is actually not their or not real , temporary...
Mukthi means mind is freed from jail of every kind of desires .
the level of detachment is such that one mind will not get attracted to even concept of Haven , concept of God , Concept of happiness etc etc ..
swamiki the point where the boat and the wtaer there is a film of whiteness. Like the ocean hitting the beach and white foam is formed.
I would add that what happens after enlightenment can be understood by studying the lives of enlightened beings, and that mostly boils down to feeling the presence of God so palpably in their lives that nothing else matters to them. It gives you the mental strength and ability for renunciation of a Ramakrishna, who upon being told he was no longer welcome at a place had the fortitude to simply sling his towel on his shoulder and take leave. Can anyone imagine doing that, and let me tell you why it was so easy for him, it was because he saw the Mother of the universe leading him by the hand always. Or you can study the life of the Mother of the universe herself, who declared that it was she who was the real Mother of everybody, and she demonstrated time and again, that these weren't mere words, by manifesting as the mothers of different devotees from time to time. Thereby delineating the path of Tapasya of the Kali-yuga, which is service to your mother, and to try to see everyone apart from your spouse as embodiments of the Mother. To understand the carnal feelings of women for you as being the manifestation of the fundamental albeit wilfull confusion in Kali's mind for whether Brahman is her son or her consort, and realise that she has confused herself thus to perpetuate the play of this universe. It's the mother of all chicken and egg problems, does Brahman give rise to Kali or is it the other way around? And mind you, Brahman Himself is confused as well, and is perpetually trying to resolve the confusion, but the full resolution of either of their confusions would lead to a cessation of the universe, so here we are, manifestations of the yin and yang of the universe, forever at war, blundering our ways through this madhouse that we have created volitionally, maybe Brahman and Kali are the eternal warriors that are at war because they seem to be turned on by the wounds that they inflict on each other, for that is the only way all this seems to make sense. Om namo bhagawate Ramakrishnaya.
I would like to add that Thakur and Ma were two true manifestations of Brahman and Kali, because they were free of any such confusions, which is the real nature of the latter. Thakur used to become a child in the presence of other women, while Ma well, she was always the Mother to everyone else.
emmhh ... perhaps the meaning of the speech escaped you, otherwise youd wouldn't use expressions as "feeling the presence of God" or "he saw the Mother of the universe" ... but it's just my view :) Namaste

@@sombh1971 like you said that to know about enlightenment, we can study the lives or biographies of people whom other think were enlightened masters. Suppose we read the biography of a saint written or told by his disciple. For example any disciples of Ramkrishna writes about Ramkrishna and all the mystical incidents and miracles, and about his perception about women whom he considered his mothers. How can we know that it's true and the person is not exaggerating for example most people say that Ramkrishna literally had talks with Godess Kali. It can also be possible that he might be having some psychotic issues like hallucinations (please don't offend, I respect him) because he was not healthy as it's claimed very often that he was diagnosed with cancer and he didn't receive any treatment for this. This might had caused psychological issues to him like he would hear and see things like devi has entered into women etc. It's my opinion that enlightenment is a myth

দড়ীকে সাপ ভাবার মতো আপনি নিজেকে যাহা ভাবছেন , আসলে আপনি তাহা নন।অর্থাৎ মায়া বা দৃষ্টি ভ্রমের কারনে নিজের আদমা পরিচয় ভূলে আপনি দেহকে আমি ভাবছেন এক দ্বৈত ভাবের মনোজগতে। এই শক্তিশালী ভাবনার নাম মানব প্রকৃতি বা আমিত্ব বা অহম । আত্ম পরিচয় বা নিজেকে খোঁজার নামে এই মানব প্রকৃতি বা আমিত্বের কোনরুপ পরিবর্তন গীতা সহ সকল ধর্ম গ্রন্হ নিষেধ করেছেন।কারনএর পরিবর্তনে জড় বন্ধন ভেংগে জড় জগত থেমে যায় । নিষ্কাম কর্মের নামে কর্মের কর্তৃত্বের দাবী ছেড়ে দিলে বা অদ্বৈতবাদের নামে ভাল মন্দ দ্বৈতবাদের শৃংখল ভেংগে শুন্যধামে চলে গেলে জগতের কার্যকরন সুত্র অকার্যকর হয়ে যায়। তখন মানুষ আর মানুষ থাকেনা , সে প্রতিক্রিয়া শুন্য মজজুব হয়ে পরে ।আত্মদর্শীরা এই প্রতিক্রিয়া শুন্যতার নাম দিয়েছে প্রেম, পরমানন্দ , ব্রম্ম জ্ঞান , মোক্ষলাভ। এই আত্ম বিনাশী স্তরে কোটিতে গুটিক যেতে পারে।
গোলামের কাজ মালিকের দাসত্ব করা , মালিককে খুজে মজজুব হওয়া নয় । এটাই যুক্তিসংগত। এটাই ধর্ম ।
ধর্মের মূল বানী :
ভগবান ছাড়া আর কোন বিধানদাতা বা হুকুমদাতা নাই ।
মানুষের মানবীয় হুকুম নয় বরং ভগবানের প্রতিনিধি হিসাবে ব্যক্তি ও সমাজ জীবনের প্রতিটি কাজে ভগবানের ঐশী হুকুম বা বিধান মানা ও প্রতিষ্ঠা করাই ধর্ম।

Those who want to attain highest level of enlightenment or moksha or Mukthi .I need to say one thing to all of them you will do it by yourself and stay calm om Shanthi and no need to exhibit anything outwardly and be content in your life so that when you passed away you don’t have to turn back to this worldly life against any left out desire which is to be fulfilled.But above all your karma will come into action and we don’t know the mathematics of it and hence nothing is in our hand .If at will of God you can be reincarnated too even if you attain the enlightenment status we can realise these only after leaving this material realm and getting into higher dimensions
It doesn't matter to me if I a live like a rain drop or rest as an ocean, what matters is that iam experiencing bliss or maya.
Enlightened one will consider all this earthly life as an entertainment without any emotional attachment and hence they may be criticised for being so and inorder to avoid these things you have to isolate yourself from the societal life and that’s what being followed by Rishis siddhas and yogis towards their journey of self realisation.Staying in this societal set up you can never attain that ,we will only be just racing against our efforts towards self realisation and we can never reach the destiny as our race will never get complete since the route which we have taken will be limitless too
