    ABOUT VEDANTA
Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions.
    ABOUT US
Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

Advaita vedanta is the most Supreme teaching as it is ready to accept 🙌 science and spirituality
That's why it is an echo of quantum physics as well as psychology and Neuro science.

It actually rejects science and laws of physics also. Everything is ultimately illusion . You can here these exact lines from same Guruji in an other lecture.

@@pavankarnam7395 Subatomic particles behave as both particles and waves hence it is neither true nor false.. it is an appearance or projection in consciousness which pervades even the tiniest atom.. Similarly in macro level, universe is a projection or appearance in Cosmic consciousness and behaves just as such where one can’t say whether it is real or false as it’s a perpetual flux so it’s accepted as a relative.. The Brahman in which Universe thus is projected is the Absolute System beyond time , space and causation.. As is micro, so is macro.. This is the very basis of quantum physics .. Universe can only be perceived if there is a witness consciousness to say that yes it’s in my experience .. If no consciousness was there, who is to say whether universe even exists or not? So no this illusion doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.. It simply means it’s a transient ever changing flux and relative which makes it obvious that within this relativity, there must be the source of it all that is eternal, never changing, Absolute.. This is Advaita Vedanta

Listening to Swamiji's talks is like meditation. The avatars like Shree Rama, Shree Krishna, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Vivekananda and so many enlightened ones are like waves in the One Ocean. But these waves would be aware of the underlying Reality unlike ordinary waves. Therefore being close to enlightened waves is itself enough.

I have the same feeling. Except that there's a beautiful anecdote in Sri M's autobiography where an Advaita scholar had studied so much that his mind was clouded. He was sad he couldn't feel liberated at all. Until one day he gave up thinking so hard and was blissful. Kena Upanishad says one who knows cannot know. Just as reading too many art theory books and a huge palette of colours prevents one from painting. I feel Advaitins are fundamentally mistaken about reducing Brahman to only one of its attributes- consciousness. And so I believe knowledge of Physics, Chemistry or Biology can also have the same liberating effect if we approach Brahman not from a subject centred world but an object centred world. It does in my experience.

The question that "why do we see so many when there is only 1 reality", the answer is just simple. the multiplicity we see is due to ignorance or avidya, lack of knowledge of the self, Non realisation of ones own true self leads to seeing many things other than you. Then the question is why are we ignorant or why do we have ignorance or avidya ? The answer is, there is no cause, it is innate. everybody is born with ignorance only. We acquire knowledge while growing. The self realised 1 also will see the multiplicity like others but the differences is he has lost his "sathyatvabuddhi" in it. that means he knows for sure that this world is not really real and It is all himself only

    • @humanist7619

Consciousness is evenly spread throughout the universe. Consciousness pervades through living system body as well as non living. living system can witness consciousness via mind and body whereas non living can't witness consciousness although it is present in them. Before the formation of first single celled living organism or so to speak before creation of life itself on earth all materials of universe were insentient beings without mind so they can't witness consciousness.👍

Consciousness is the basis of the entire universe. It was there before the creation of the universe, so everything, even all that is inert or insenscient is Within consciousness. Everything functions within it's boundaries, all human beings, animals, plants, all Laws of Nature like Gravity, electromagnetism etc. even those not yet discovered by science as on today.. Consciousness encompasses all there is and nothing can be excluded.

Strange that something immaterial should be the root of the material. Yet it seems to be so.

    • @konnektlive
      @konnektlive 4 роки тому +7

See the problem right here is the anthropocentric concepts and dichotomies being taken as granted without proper investigation into their fundamental meanings. What do we define as material? And what do we define as immaterial? As an ex-theoretical physicist I can assure that not two theoretical physicists fundamentally speaking would agree on the nature of what we casually call matter. As far as we know objectively (and there is an inherent limitation in our current so-called modern epistemological approach to physicalism) matter fundamentally speaking is nothing but forms of 'energy' (yet another taken for granted notion) which has very contradictory behaviours (e.g. QM wave/particle duality). In other words, matter can be reduced to pure empty space as the vacuum which itself hypothesised to be in the constant state of flux and change.
So matter can be easily reduced to non-matter or beyond-matter. On the other hand immaterial is also a purely abstract anthropocentric concept which has been invented in the language to represent 'something' that is the opposite of 'matter'. While in reality nature does not work like that nor the our thoughts and imaginations and speculations can ever reach that which stands beyond language. It does not mean there is no way to experience that ineffable absolute, I'm sure there is as I personally had glimpses of that experiences; however, the physicalist objective approach and its epistemology and definitions are not enough for that.
See, here we have two problems, first one is the problem of language which is usually shoved under the rug as we most of the times are not even aware of such a problem. We perhaps unconsciously taken for granted our purely anthropocentric ideas and concepts too seriously and for real that we do not even see that they are not fundamental at all and need to be deconstructed in every context first.
The second problem is the problem of epistemology, in which we believe (perhaps based on hundreds of years of cultural/societal/religious brainwash, specially in the West) the current epistemology and ways of acquiring knowledge is ONLY through reductionism, physicalism and (seemingly) objective investigation of a phenomenon. In this epistemology objective reality is taken to be real (without providing any fundamental proof for such absurd belief), hence nobody even dares to speak about other possible approaches and epistemologies that could help us go even deeper in our journey. The funny thing is that, if you ask any unbiased, open minded physicist about the nature of so-called objective reality, almost all of them would respond by saying that they are not sure it's objective at all when it's been fundamentally examined!

He doesnt understand that energy is also material but formless..
      Take example of lightening..
These people think that only some form gives rise to form ..which is not so..actually formless gives rise to form ..😂
