I have not shut up about how phenomenal Ronnie is as a vocalist since like 2006 😂 you need to check out I’m not a vampire revamped and the drug in me is reimagined!
Can we all take a moment to appreciate Ronnie's epic mastery of the emotional vocal crack? Im sure there is a name for it, but it is the purposeful crack in the voice at the end of a note that sounds almost like the singer is going to cry and it just infuses emotion into the performance that cannot be ignored... you just viscerally feel it.
I am a metal head at heart, and this was and still is the first Papa Roach song I fell in love with as an angsty teen. THIS version brought me to tears.
Thank you for saying all these cool stuff about Ronnie. I know I may sound silly, but I am honestly honored to live at the same time as he, he is the greatest artist I have ever heard. So open minded, talented, creative.. World needs more people like him.
Genuinely LOVED this analysis and reaction! Ronnie is my favorite vocalist of my generation. He walked into a studio and did this masterpiece in ONE take. Dude is a genius.
So in my opinion the original was the voice of an angry teenager mad at the world. FIR's version is that of an adult screaming for help from the world around them... absolutely a great cover!!!!!
At times when he cries, "I'm Crying," it almost sounds like he's saying, "I'm Crying & I'm TRYING!" Which makes sense to me because the World goes back to being WHOLE as a symbol of your Spiritual Well Being Healing After Trying Hard.... & also from crying your eyes out, lol!!
I was lucky enough to see Falling in Reverse last Saturday night 7-29-23, they was amazing 👏 ❤ Jacoby actually came out and did Popular Monster with him, it was amazing 😮
@@vick247xe Cant say it was my first show after covid, I did AfterShock 2022 (FIR Was there) Also went to Sick New World, could not pass on seeing SOAD live. But still loved the vibe, and show in sac! Was great fun! Also the ticket price was CHOICE!
@@travelinman92Caught the here in Washington on the 25th after they were in Vegas. Was extra awsome because last time they were here they had to cancel. (Not mad because one of the guys had to rush home)
Not gonna lie, I’m a new fan of FIR and Ronnie and happily fallen down a deep rabbit hole of theirs since this song came out. I was too young to hear Papa roach’s at the time. I think my recommendations list knew before I did that I desperately needed to see this version’s music video because certain circumstances in my life have caused me more undeniable proof of that recently. This song made me realise it and start reaching for help. Thanks Ronnie ❤, and great reaction vid, man. Stay safe, people.
YOU stay safe.. I hope you find the help you need.. at 57, I’m a new fan as well… and it because of this also… and the rest of their music is amazing. That’s not what I came here for. I came here for you .. keep going!!
I loved seeing the smile come across your face when he started singing. I was already a huge Ronnie fan and appreciate his talent, but it was awesome to watch your interpretation and analysis of it! Amazing! 👏
This song, the lyrics hit so much more in this version. I love the original - but that song is almost as old as I am and English is my second (actually my 3rd) language - so I had memories about this song long before I understood the lyrics and the meaning. This one is so much heavier, not in sense of rock/metal music, but the emotional impact. Escpacially with the visuals. Yes, it is building things up again after we watched the world burn. Not only is every single music video of FIR better than many actual movies, but many tell a ongoing story. Ronnie, the band, the team are so creative!
I love when Ronnie gets that warm deeper tone, especially as a contrast to where it's been prior. The guy is talent++ given he did the vocals in like half an hour apparently
You know you made a immortal song that will echo through history. When covers like this is build on it. Deconstruction music this way for me shows what songs will stand the test of time. There are many great songs. But sometimes it takes the most magical cover of a great song, to prove just how brilliant it really is, and make it last forever.
It’s so different! Love the song ❤ I applaud you pointing out the switch between chest and head voice - I even was able to hear it (with my untrained ears 😅), thank you! P.S.: Yes, I also thought of Inception!
@PeterBarber You autta check out his "Revamped" version of his own track I'm Not a Vampire!!! Unbelievably Epic!!!! Skim thru the original song for a mindblowing comparison!
Thank you for the great breakdown, I really enjoy hearing the technical stuff. I love that Ronnie reimagined the song instead of covering it, it is so moving and poignant. There is a video from when Ronnie showed it to Jacoby the first time, shows Ronnie's humility.
Great reaction. I can't sing at all but I still enjoyed your analysis. There's a video in which Ronnie plays his cover to Jacoby (Papa Roach) for the first time. It's really interesting to see Ronnie really nervous and to hear the unmixed version. Especially the part when everything comes to a halt sounds really different. Ronnie recorded this more or less in one take It was meant to be a guide track but turned out so well that they kept it with very little adjustments.
I've always loved Ronnie's voice, it's awesome to hear your breakdown of why exactly it hits so hard! It's also so cool to hear your appreciation of so many styles 🙌
This a continuation of watch the world burn. It's part of their upcoming EP called Neon Zombie. There are four songs on it so far zombified, voices in my head, watch the world burn and now last resort.
It is a completely different song than the original, and it is so so amazing! They also have a few more “reimagined” pieces, one being with their own song called “the drug in me is you.” It would be cool if you checked out the other ones as well. Great analysis and video Peter!
Was unaware that Ronnie could do that. Hadnt heard much from them but this was nuts. Much like Disturbed Sound of Silence, this cover did an incredible job at matching the tone of the lyrics perfectly.
After seeing reactions to this version, I'm came to the conclusion no one ever listen to the lyrics of this song until now(not saying you were one of them). I love your break down on this. His voice is phenomenal. Jacoby Shaddix loves this version and Ronnie had him listen to a raw recording for approval before he finished it.
Papa Roach's version is the child. Ronnie's version is the adult one. I was a child when Papa Roach song came out en I didn't relate. Now, as an adult, Ronnie's version hit hard. I can feel the pain in the song. And I think that more people can relate in this version because of the "ballad" kinda vibe. I just hits harder! Ronnie is an great artist ❤
He shared an unmixed cut of the song with Jacoby in a reel which can be found on UA-cam. It’s being played on a speaker so clearly not the best version to tell, but if you’re curious for comparison you could check it out
Love your FIR reactions, and let me be the +1 to state that your speaking voice is soooo so amazing! Wish I could go and see you singing live! Wish you the best!
The video is a sequel to their "watch the world burn" video, where everything burns. That is why this video is all grayscale, because the world is in ashes. But if you listen to this next to the original version, you can understand why Ronnie makes certain decisions throughout the re-imagining.
I do love how he plays around with his voice and is always trying different technique, but just off his feel. He’s mentioned how he’s not trained professionally. He’s also mentioned how he picked up piano young but can’t really read music. There’s just some lucky kids that play it all by eye/ear. You may get a bette sense with his love performance of this, though each show he tends to tweak it a bit. 🖤
I really enjoyed the way you used musical notes to describe Ronnie’s voice. I just discovered FIR last December and I love ALL their music. I hadn’t even listened to music for 20 years because reasons. I searched UA-cam for metal and watched “Voices in My Head” and I was a goner!🥰🖤
I didn't read many comments down below, but in the video this world is all ash from the music video "Watch the World Burn." He literally burns the whole world.. so everything is ash that's falling around him, as he finishes the song, you see the buildings and world going back together. It's absolutely fascinating.
i love watching professionals who love their craft, react to things related to their craft because from 7:56 to 8:10 your eyes are just in constant constricting and expanding as your analyzing and enjoying good honest work. (weird comment i know its what happens when you study the human body for references for art too long)
this song hit me like a sludge hammer, i watched several reaction videos. that was cool how you broke it down, well done Peter Barker. you stopped it right before my favorite line in the song so i dont know if you missed it or not. actually no one has commented on it. when he sings "will it be wrong or it be right" for what ever reason i really liked it.
All of the reimagined videos are not actually falling in reverse they are just ronnie. Him and his producer and photographer create the idea. Ronnie and a buddy write the piano pieces and its all created together. Thats why its so vastly different.
Yep! I totally agree as to what has been mentioned. Totally need to do the other reimagined songs - I'm not a vampire and Drug in me is you! Praying you do those =)

Big fan of falling in reverse and looking forward to more videos and checking out older ones.
the buildings colapsing are supposed to be everything going wrong in his life, loosing his mother, thinking of suicide and more but then time stops and he breaths for a bit then the building going back up are him pushing through and things getting better. the screaming at the end is the realease of all the feelings just getting it out of you.

The way you put it is spot on, the fir version is more of a adult that's been broken down
