Hence it explains why we see a lot df users never awakens their power like Kaido and Bigmom because they are near invincible. All 5 gorosei have awakened their df powers, I assume they died and being brought back to life through summoning by Imu.
Maybe they were celestial dragons who were made into puppets. Imu periodically kills one off and creates another. Figarland Garling is probably first in line based on the characters we know. That solves the issue of people finding out. An elder dies and is replaced with a real person.
I personally think that it's much more sinister than even them being demons. I think they've done some kind of ritual where any damage they suffer gets transferred to the slaves they have up in Mariejois. Once the Strawhats realize this they wouldn't attack the gorosei anymore and would focus on escaping. They would then work on a way to sever this connection between the gorosei and the slaves in order to beat them in the final war. This is just pure headcanon and is not based on anything lol.
Yeah there may even be people in the story who know about the remnants of the more evil side of the lost history. Like when brook was in that summoning circle during the timeskip and everyone was chanting satan at him lol. And his fruit is kinda similar to the gorosei vibe, Big mom's too.

For me, it's the way there apparently has never been a rebellion against Imu. The gorosei seem to be insanely powerful. You're telling me they are just fine serving a dictator for 800 years? Nah, this system is way too stable, Imu has complete control over the goroseis one way or another. Also, I do believe they have been alive for 800 years. People know about the existence of the Gorosei, but I'm pretty sure they don't know them individually. People probably assume once a Gorosei dies, another is appointed.

Great theory. My only doubt is that V. Nusjuro appears to have the shodai kitetsu - that, paired with his name, suggests he could be from Wano. At the very least, it suggests some individuality that may contradict this theory
You say it yourself @UltaBlueRev it only suggests, it's not confirmed. He could have taken that name and gotten that sword somewhere. It's the government afterall, they have ways to get things. Maybe they used to be real people used as a host for the yokai and jut kept their names... Or this name was just given to him...

To add to this theory the gorosei seem to be based on “peacemakers” in history or those who fought against injustice. Oda knows enough about history to choose dictators to represent but I think he choose those specific people because it represents the idea of a democracy corrupted like how the gorosei turn into demons. It’s possible the gorosei took their forms after people in the one piece world.

His hat, beard and cane are also reminiscent of Giuseppe Garibaldi, one of the most important figures in the 19th century unification of Italy. Not to mention Baldy (Topman) has a birthmark based on Mikhail Gorbachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union.
My head cannon belief is that the 5 elders were great leaders/revolutionaries that have risen up over the past 800 years before being turned to Imu's side. It's pretty clear that they are based on famous/ infamous leaders in our real worlds past after all. Maybe after rising to a certain level of reputation and coming close to conquering the world government, they were approached by Imu with a deal. Immortality and knowledge of the void century.
That would be super interesting to find out they were all revolutionary leaders. I imagine Imu views themselves as a revolutionary against the ancient kingdom, so it may not even necessarily be the case that they had their wills crushed.
I theorized once that the Gorosei were born during the Void Century: now, though, I think they were all alive before it started, til' they met Imu ,(who may be as old as Zunisha), and were granted immortality along with their other weird powers*. All of them: Imu , Gorosei and the 20 Founders had already faced Joyboy in person, and knew what he was capable. It's why , after Joyboy's haki blocked their powers, the Gorosei teleported away at the last second before that haki blast left them catatonic. *Their regenerative powers ,(which seems more like they're negating damage) Saturn's shock-waves blowing people's heads up, their telepathy, teleportation and summoning rituals...it all looks like actual magic they're using. Which would look totally bizarre to characters in the One Piece world. Even veterans like Kaido and Big Mom who've seen it all, would be baffled.
The Gorosei are probably using The Voice of All Things. Oda has held off on explaining or even utilizing the Voice much up until recently when we saw Luffy and Momonosuke talking during the raid. It feels like it would make sense for it to get expanded on as it becomes more relevant, which seems like it will be soon.
But the point of the homunculi was that they indeed had a strong individual personality that represented an unlikely take on their intended primary emotion. The Gorosei, however, seem like a group void of personality. As f now, the two groups can´t be more different and more similar at the same time
It’s also worth noting that there’s also a parallel with the Seraphim and Kuma’s rebellious attitude when it comes to the idea that creations will always have a free will of their own when it comes to Egghead (also Kizaru’s internal struggle despite himself believing that he’s a cog). In that sense, the Gorosei would be the thematically perfect antagonists for Egghead since they’re the only creations/subordinates so far that we’ve seen that seem to have no free will of their own and are completely obedient to their master, Imu.
I still believe they are using black magic, its forbidden magic also in One Piece Universe.. Instead of using Haki and DF, they use magic and shapeshifting technique acquired by doing some kind of hidden rituals.. Yes, its actually IMU's knowledge thats somehow, being transferred to them through learning
I always thought the "immortality surgery" basically just transferred the remaining lifespan of the fruit-user to the recipient. It could be used to achieve immortality if the recipient continued to seek out new sacrifices, but it wouldn't just make them indestructible forever.
It’s worth noting that, outside of the Gorosei, we’ve never seen ANY Celestial Dragon interact with or even acknowledge Imu. Not even a super high ranking Celestial Dragon like Figerland Garling.
Because they don't even know he exists, that's why. They might let Garling and the Holy Knights in on the ruse, eventually. Mostly, on account of their own authority to execute celestial dragons. I don't know, it could be easier on the Gorosei to let Garling and co. do the dirty work: Donquixote Mjosgard has already been executed. With him as an example, Garling could've started cracking even harder on all Celestial Dragons in Marijoa. They won't let the rest of the nobles off the hook, either: if other King, like Cobra, starts asking questions, they'll slaughter him and his family.

I agree especially with the idea that the Gorosei feel really in synch with one another. When Oda introduces a group, he almost always shows differences of personality and opinions among the ones forming said group (the Tobi Roppo, the Shickibukai, the Supernovas, the Enraged Army, the Underworld brokers, the Strawhat Grand Fleet, the Admirals and so on).
I always thought their synchronized nature was just to showcase how well organized they were. In contrast to other organizations which can have conflicts of interest, the Elders always struck me as people that were always on the same page. Maybe not because they’re of the same mind, but because they’re all THAT committed to securing their power. I dunno if a government that existed for 800 years can last that long if it’s major rulers weren’t always in agreement.
You missed an important detail. During Brooks timeskip the cult he was worshipped by believed in the devil. Even drawing similar magic circles. This is definitely intended and confirms the idea of hell or underworld
Gotta say I was not expecting Oda to make the gorosei like this Though it does make sense thematically as you pointed out. Also, it’s said that everything the ancient kingdom could make was better than vegapunk. So of Imu used ancient kingdom tech to make the gorosei, it makes sense that they’re a superior version who can do things like summon each other and speak telepathically from across the world
The Gorosei not being humans but demons was something I thought of as soon as Saturn made his move, it wouldn't surprise me if the devil fruit were also "beings" at one point that fought the Gorosei during the void century and lost but their wills carried on in the devil fruits.
Imu being one of the original Government founders is a 50/50 possibility, but he may've never been human to begin with, for all we know. If he is, he might be the last member of another ancient race ,now extinct, who killed and passed himself as one of the 20 founder kings.
I have another explantion.... like Nika was a sun god when he dies it became a devil fruit and lufy became new Nika . what if the gorosei are actual devils that never died so they did not have to consume a devil fruit in the 1st place
so form what I understand, the Gorosei acts as extentions of Imu, the same way other artificial races are extentions of Devil Fruit users (Homies-Big Mom/Soro Soro, Zombies-Moria/Kage Kage, and Toys-Sugar/Hobby Hobby). Hence, when they say creator, they mean Imu literally crated them through their Devil Fruit and they are parts of thier body/mind/soul.
0:35 we know Vegapunk doesn't understand logia. But we know Saturn does, its how he gave Bunney her powers. Thus probably Saturn has figured out how logia's heal so insanely fast, and used it on himself.
I think time is something related to gorosei and their devil fruits. Why is it called DEVIL fruit? Does it turn the owner to a devil after a certain time with too much exposure? . Whitebeard had some unknown sickness, Roger himself have something unexplainable (did he have a devil fruit in secret?) Why dont Shanks get an devil fruit or his crew? Does he know something about the fruits due to his connection with the gorosei? Is his goal to find Nika for the Gorosei so they can cultivate the fruit and use it somehow or completely destroy it forever know that they know for sure who Nika is and they dont want the world to know?
All of this Demon stuff happening in One Piece made me think of Black Clover of all things. Oda is turning out to be an old dog who does learn new tricks. Imagine being inspired by Oda, creating a story running in the same magazine as him, then being upstaged by your idol at your own game.
I came up with the same theory some days ago. I think forshadowing for that would be the Vegapunks and as you mentioned - the best contrast to the topic of dreams would be nightmares. I came up with the same thought inspired by the final Boss in The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening. A black void that created other powerful monsters and itself can transform into different monsters from nightmares.
I have been thinking that the Gorosei are all awakend Zoan users whose bodies have been taken over by their fruits, just as is the case with the Impel Down jailers. And that due to the intelligence and will of the Demons that "reside" in these mythical-Zoans, the "failed" awakening doesn't result in screeching and unintelligent noise making like the jailers, but the Zoan is able to speak and act like it is human. This could also explain the odd manner in which Saturn speaks of humans, like he isn't one himself.

The gorosei created by Imu Sama Are basically the Same Like the Big five from Yu-Gi-Oh! Series, which are led by Noah, Kaiba‘s step brother. Imu is the big boss, Like Noah is in the yu-gi-oh! Series
One thing to note, I'm pretty sure the immortality operation isn't immortality in the sense of bestowing regeneration, but rather eternal youth. Another thing about the Gorosei: keep in mind that most people haven't ever seen the Gorosei. It seems implied that they haven't left Mariejois in a long time. As such, people might have assumed it was a title. There was a theory somewhere that each of the gorosei's yokai are based on the cardinal directions (and the center), which also has some connection to the WG flag. Has to do with confucianism.
Maybe I’m in the minority but I think the gorosei&Imu spamming the immorality surgery like a video game cheat code lessens the overall importance of it in the story. If they can just exploit the DF rebirth cycle how the hell did they lose the fruit over the centuries?
If devil fruits truly respawn where there is the strongest desire for them then maybe the gorosei were the only ones with the wills strong enough to achieve immortality, and after them the fruit respawned somewhere else in the world cause none of the other Celestial Dragons truly wanted it enough.

Right now it feels as if we have 5 end game and mysterious characters that were build up ages ago and finally we are starting to explore them. Did you consider that Imu is actually "Father", and the gorosei are actually "The Delightful Children from Down the Lane" but grown up? That’s why they want Bonney’s fruit, so that they can return to their original forms. This is why Imu looks like a silhouette all the time.
Y'know, now that you mention that they may not have DF powers at all, I'm reminded of something that had bothered me with Saturn's arrival on Egghead: the reveal of his Zoan transformation, without the outspoken announcement of his DF's nature. Back on Wano, Oda revealed every DF's name as their powers were revealed, and it was almost exclusively Zoans. The only notable exception was Kaido's fruit, and even then, the true reveal was that it's a mythical version of the Fish Fish Fruit; everyone and their grandmother had gathered that he could turn into a dragon. Oppose this to Saturn the Ushi-Oni, a creature that most of One Piece's westerner fandom had never heard of before, and you'd really think Oda would make a point to officially name this power. Even during the Egghead Arc, Vegapunk told his DF's name to the crew, Bluegrass told hers to Bonney, and Pomsky's only known attack is named after his DF; the only exception in this arc is Stussy, and she just so happens to be another character about who some people speculated on whether or not she does have a DF.
I called it. Right after Saturn arrived, I made the theory that the Gorosei true forms were their yokai forms and that their human forms were their false forms based on Saturn's dialogue. I proposed that they ate the Hito Hito no Mi: Model Saturn, Mars etc.
Imagine if there exists a Cosmic energy, Which is needed to permanently erase the Gorosei. Or what if Joyboy was the natural enemy of Imu-sama? Like since his abilities surpass the limits of Science, Could it be possible that it counters Imu-sama Dark powers?
It's not an immortality surgery but no-longer-aging surgery. Meaning if you received it at an old age, you're still going to old: you're just not getting older. But old age isn't the only thing that can kill you. Maybe the Gorosei are just exceptionally durable? They're not from the Void Century, because at least Peter is in the dark of what happened then. And if they did went through Perennial Youth Operation, he would've been the first to receive it. Others had to wait for the next Ope Ope no Mi-user to learn the said ability, just as it took Luffy time to learn all the Gears from 2 to 5. 4:01 Notice that Nusjuro says "The World Goverment", rather than "we". Humans or demons, the Gorosei preceeds both the Void Century and the founding of the World Government.
Gorosei… I remember how 15 years ago I stumbled on them watching Jaya arc, and was immediately intrigued by the Ghandi design (swordsman and Zoro agenda) So much time have been passed. And in two weeks I might catch a glimpse of his egg head devil form introduction. What a time to be alive.
I don't know how he'd work it but I'd like to see Oda pull off his own version of the Zodiac Brave story regarding the Gorosei. I like the concept of nightmare manifestations or the creation of satellite bodies as well.
Now that we have two instances where one character splits themselve into many I wonder if that correlates to Blackbeard being the opposite of that by being multiple in one.
I literally said the Gorosei are demons ever since the portal on egghead. Finally a good morj theory. However I think they are individuals not part of Imu. If they were part of Imu then why do they behave differently like they have personalities.
Demon or just Mythical Zoans, I don't think Devon is going to be able to replicate Saturn's powers. That makes the whole scenario of how and why she'll imitate him that much more interesting and confusing.
If the Void century was more technologically advanced than what Egghead is, wouldn’t it make sense for even better cloning/person building like Vegapunk and Judge have done. This could explain Imu having created such human like individuals. Or the 5 of them are all clones of Celestial Dragons and not just mere creations
They are from the void century. The 5 gorosei and Imu are all “one piece”. If egghead is an emulation of a past, and on it you have the 7 deadly sins represented. Lucifer, pride, the morning star(sun god) was the seventh.
A detail in the manga: At one point when they were talking about Nika's fruit, one of the Gorosei comments on why the World Government would erase the name of Nika's fruit. The Gorosei always refer to the WG in the first person, but in this instance they refer to the WG in the third person in the past tense, as if there had been a previous generation of Gorosei.
I just freaking love it when Yokai are used in a story somehow, especially like this, and even more so, I just love this freaking theory! I makes too much damn sense! Now the question is, what kind of Yokai is Imu? I still say Umibozu both because it’s ironic and scary given the original concept of Devil Fruits, but now I’m wondering if he might also be a Daidarabotchi! Either way, I am hyped! Although this does also bring up the question… given the name Devil Fruit, it’s weakness to the seas as punishment and if this theory is true… is it possible that Imu somehow is the original creator of Devil Fruits? Something to think about.
Sorry, I think you missed the mark here. If we assume the Gorosei and Im all have yokai-related mythical zoan devil fruits, then none of the demonic black magic stuff is at all out of the ordinary. Mythical zoans have additional powers beyond just transformations, and awakened mythical zoans likely get even more powers (like Luffy). Any and all of the black magic demon stuff can be understood to be those special mythical powers, either from Saturn or one of the other Gorosei. It could be that one of them enables their telepathy, while another enables the summoning circles. This is a weak point of the argument imho.
This whole video falls apart when you apply the same logic to why Law has the fruit. You think Imu would just drop a 500 billion bounty on the thing that jeopardizes his entire rule? He would have had all gorosei on board. Dofy and Cora be damned they couldn't stop imu if he cared about being the only immortal.

This is off topic but g5 is really getting annoying. Luffy is playing around with his opponents when he could easily taken care of them. Lucci got sentomaru injured. Kizaru killed vegapunk and had usopp in a choke hold and luffy was just laughing. Now saturn is bringing in strong fighter than can kill his crew. As well as robin being injured and probably trying not to be kidnapped by lucci. All while luffy is laughing his ass off. Its not the same luffy that destroy the mirror so no one reaches his crew in whole cake. Shanks jokes around but when he saw kid about to destroy his fleet he took care of the threat in seconds like a actual yonko.
At this point, I’m fairly convinced that most (but not all) of the Gorosei’s powers could be attributed the mythical zoan devil fruits. Granted, at least based on what we’ve seen from Saturn, these could easily be some of the most powerful zoan type devil fruits in the series, but I’m going to list all the abilities that are plausibly due to devil fruits. 1. The zoan transformation Saturns demon spider transformation is definitely a zoan ability. It’s clearly a creature which is what zoan devil fruits turn you into, and he has a very prominent cloud ribbon which is an indicator of zoan awakening 2. Regeneration Saturns powers to regenerate are plausibly due to his zoan ability. Marco has regeneration powers that are definitely due to his zoan power so there’s precedent for that. Granted, this is a very different and possibly more advanced kind of regeneration. Also, mythical zoans are known for having secondary abilities aside from just the creature transformation, and this could easily be one of them. 3. Acid venom This is definitely a zoan ability as it is consistent with the nature of spiders (some of them are very venomous). 4. Mind breaking Saturns ability to make peoples heads explode and hold them in place with his look could also be a mythical zoan ability. Now for powers that are most likely not to do with a mythical zoan fruit 1. Longevity Though it is plausible that a powerful enough demon fruit could make someone immortal, all of the gorosei are immortal so it’s less likely since that would mean all of the gorosei’s devil fruits have this ability in common (which is plausible if they are all the same subclass of devil fruit, but I find it highly unlikely). 2. Telepathy I don’t see how this could possibly be a devil fruit ability since this power seems to be only something that works amongst the Gorosei. 3. Demonic ritual teleportation This power is also unlikely to be something that is due to a devil fruit as it is something that is clearly something that all Gorosei members can do. So in summation, something that all the Gorosei can do is likely a Gorosei specific ability, whereas something that only specific members can do is likely a devil fruit ability. At this point I think it’s likely that Saturns power to turn into a yokai spider and that spiders acid venom is a devil fruit power specific to Saturn. The regeneration and ability to make peoples heads explode or freeze them in place may also be a power of Saturns devil fruit, unless the other Gorosei prove they can do those things too. Telepathy, demon rituals and teleportation is definitely a power intrinsic to whatever the Gorosei are. Vegapunk achieved cloning through science. Imu may have achieved cloning through magic. That’s an anti-parallel between the two if oda wants to make it.
That means you missed the point, most of the story is about enjoying the adventure... one piece isn't just about the ending (good or bad). Think about all of the lessons learned, stories told, characters met, etc.
So, far everything in one piece has come from an advanced golden age of human civilization. Anything we see in the series is science, this includes the Elder 5 and their abilities.
I am calling it- Luffy+Sanji+Zoro+Kizaru vs Gorosei.. Kizaru is fighting even though he has killed vegapunk but he still wants his final message to be heard. Motivation for Kizaru is as high as it can get right now

We don't know who bonnys father is yet people are just sumising that Saturn is her father its entirely possible it's some other celestial that is her father.
The idea of the gorosei always being in sync and all that comes with it is a strong point but I just don’t see it not being devil fruits. Saturn had the zoan clouds shared by other zoans, he had a hybrid and a fully transformed form so it all points to it being from a devil fruit. The telepathy and shared pentagram teleportation must imply something different but it might just be something we haven’t seen yet. At the very least, I think they’re creations that ate devil fruits

I personally think that it's much more sinister than even them being demons. I think they've done some kind of ritual where any damage they suffer gets transferred to the slaves they have up in Mariejois. Once the Strawhats realize this they wouldn't attack the gorosei anymore and would focus on escaping. They would then work on a way to sever this connection between the gorosei and the slaves in order to beat them in the final war. This is just pure headcanon and is not based on anything lol.
Yeah there may even be people in the story who know about the remnants of the more evil side of the lost history. Like when brook was in that summoning circle during the timeskip and everyone was chanting satan at him lol. And his fruit is kinda similar to the gorosei vibe, Big mom's too.

Also, I do believe they have been alive for 800 years. People know about the existence of the Gorosei, but I'm pretty sure they don't know them individually. People probably assume once a Gorosei dies, another is appointed.

To add to this theory the gorosei seem to be based on “peacemakers” in history or those who fought against injustice. Oda knows enough about history to choose dictators to represent but I think he choose those specific people because it represents the idea of a democracy corrupted like how the gorosei turn into demons. It’s possible the gorosei took their forms after people in the one piece world.

His hat, beard and cane are also reminiscent of Giuseppe Garibaldi, one of the most important figures in the 19th century unification of Italy. Not to mention Baldy (Topman) has a birthmark based on Mikhail Gorbachev, the last leader of the Soviet Union.
My head cannon belief is that the 5 elders were great leaders/revolutionaries that have risen up over the past 800 years before being turned to Imu's side. It's pretty clear that they are based on famous/ infamous leaders in our real worlds past after all. Maybe after rising to a certain level of reputation and coming close to conquering the world government, they were approached by Imu with a deal. Immortality and knowledge of the void century.

I theorized once that the Gorosei were born during the Void Century: now, though, I think they were all alive before it started, til' they met Imu ,(who may be as old as Zunisha), and were granted immortality along with their other weird powers*.
All of them: Imu , Gorosei and the 20 Founders had already faced Joyboy in person, and knew what he was capable. It's why , after Joyboy's haki blocked their powers, the Gorosei teleported away at the last second before that haki blast left them catatonic.
*Their regenerative powers ,(which seems more like they're negating damage) Saturn's shock-waves blowing people's heads up, their telepathy, teleportation and summoning rituals...it all looks like actual magic they're using.
Which would look totally bizarre to characters in the One Piece world.

The Gorosei are probably using The Voice of All Things. Oda has held off on explaining or even utilizing the Voice much up until recently when we saw Luffy and Momonosuke talking during the raid. It feels like it would make sense for it to get expanded on as it becomes more relevant, which seems like it will be soon.

It’s also worth noting that there’s also a parallel with the Seraphim and Kuma’s rebellious attitude when it comes to the idea that creations will always have a free will of their own when it comes to Egghead (also Kizaru’s internal struggle despite himself believing that he’s a cog). In that sense, the Gorosei would be the thematically perfect antagonists for Egghead since they’re the only creations/subordinates so far that we’ve seen that seem to have no free will of their own and are completely obedient to their master, Imu.

I always thought the "immortality surgery" basically just transferred the remaining lifespan of the fruit-user to the recipient. It could be used to achieve immortality if the recipient continued to seek out new sacrifices, but it wouldn't just make them indestructible forever.
It’s worth noting that, outside of the Gorosei, we’ve never seen ANY Celestial Dragon interact with or even acknowledge Imu. Not even a super high ranking Celestial Dragon like Figerland Garling.

I agree especially with the idea that the Gorosei feel really in synch with one another. When Oda introduces a group, he almost always shows differences of personality and opinions among the ones forming said group (the Tobi Roppo, the Shickibukai, the Supernovas, the Enraged Army, the Underworld brokers, the Strawhat Grand Fleet, the Admirals and so on).
I always thought their synchronized nature was just to showcase how well organized they were. In contrast to other organizations which can have conflicts of interest, the Elders always struck me as people that were always on the same page. Maybe not because they’re of the same mind, but because they’re all THAT committed to securing their power. I dunno if a government that existed for 800 years can last that long if it’s major rulers weren’t always in agreement.

The Gorosei not being humans but demons was something I thought of as soon as Saturn made his move, it wouldn't surprise me if the devil fruit were also "beings" at one point that fought the Gorosei during the void century and lost but their wills carried on in the devil fruits.

so form what I understand, the Gorosei acts as extentions of Imu, the same way other artificial races are extentions of Devil Fruit users (Homies-Big Mom/Soro Soro, Zombies-Moria/Kage Kage, and Toys-Sugar/Hobby Hobby). Hence, when they say creator, they mean Imu literally crated them through their Devil Fruit and they are parts of thier body/mind/soul.

I think time is something related to gorosei and their devil fruits. Why is it called DEVIL fruit? Does it turn the owner to a devil after a certain time with too much exposure? . Whitebeard had some unknown sickness, Roger himself have something unexplainable (did he have a devil fruit in secret?) Why dont Shanks get an devil fruit or his crew? Does he know something about the fruits due to his connection with the gorosei? Is his goal to find Nika for the Gorosei so they can cultivate the fruit and use it somehow or completely destroy it forever know that they know for sure who Nika is and they dont want the world to know?
All of this Demon stuff happening in One Piece made me think of Black Clover of all things. Oda is turning out to be an old dog who does learn new tricks. Imagine being inspired by Oda, creating a story running in the same magazine as him, then being upstaged by your idol at your own game.

I think forshadowing for that would be the Vegapunks and as you mentioned - the best contrast to the topic of dreams would be nightmares.
I came up with the same thought inspired by the final Boss in The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening. A black void that created other powerful monsters and itself can transform into different monsters from nightmares.
What if choppers fruit is just the human fruit and someone who wasn't human (an alien) wished to be human.
I have been thinking that the Gorosei are all awakend Zoan users whose bodies have been taken over by their fruits, just as is the case with the Impel Down jailers. And that due to the intelligence and will of the Demons that "reside" in these mythical-Zoans, the "failed" awakening doesn't result in screeching and unintelligent noise making like the jailers, but the Zoan is able to speak and act like it is human. This could also explain the odd manner in which Saturn speaks of humans, like he isn't one himself.

One thing to note, I'm pretty sure the immortality operation isn't immortality in the sense of bestowing regeneration, but rather eternal youth.
Another thing about the Gorosei: keep in mind that most people haven't ever seen the Gorosei. It seems implied that they haven't left Mariejois in a long time. As such, people might have assumed it was a title.
There was a theory somewhere that each of the gorosei's yokai are based on the cardinal directions (and the center), which also has some connection to the WG flag. Has to do with confucianism.
Maybe I’m in the minority but I think the gorosei&Imu spamming the immorality surgery like a video game cheat code lessens the overall importance of it in the story. If they can just exploit the DF rebirth cycle how the hell did they lose the fruit over the centuries?
If devil fruits truly respawn where there is the strongest desire for them then maybe the gorosei were the only ones with the wills strong enough to achieve immortality, and after them the fruit respawned somewhere else in the world cause none of the other Celestial Dragons truly wanted it enough.

Y'know, now that you mention that they may not have DF powers at all, I'm reminded of something that had bothered me with Saturn's arrival on Egghead: the reveal of his Zoan transformation, without the outspoken announcement of his DF's nature.
Back on Wano, Oda revealed every DF's name as their powers were revealed, and it was almost exclusively Zoans. The only notable exception was Kaido's fruit, and even then, the true reveal was that it's a mythical version of the Fish Fish Fruit; everyone and their grandmother had gathered that he could turn into a dragon. Oppose this to Saturn the Ushi-Oni, a creature that most of One Piece's westerner fandom had never heard of before, and you'd really think Oda would make a point to officially name this power.
Even during the Egghead Arc, Vegapunk told his DF's name to the crew, Bluegrass told hers to Bonney, and Pomsky's only known attack is named after his DF; the only exception in this arc is Stussy, and she just so happens to be another character about who some people speculated on whether or not she does have a DF.
I called it. Right after Saturn arrived, I made the theory that the Gorosei true forms were their yokai forms and that their human forms were their false forms based on Saturn's dialogue.
I proposed that they ate the Hito Hito no Mi: Model Saturn, Mars etc.
Imagine if there exists a Cosmic energy, Which is needed to permanently erase the Gorosei.

It's not an immortality surgery but no-longer-aging surgery. Meaning if you received it at an old age, you're still going to old: you're just not getting older. But old age isn't the only thing that can kill you. Maybe the Gorosei are just exceptionally durable?
They're not from the Void Century, because at least Peter is in the dark of what happened then. And if they did went through Perennial Youth Operation, he would've been the first to receive it. Others had to wait for the next Ope Ope no Mi-user to learn the said ability, just as it took Luffy time to learn all the Gears from 2 to 5.

A detail in the manga:
At one point when they were talking about Nika's fruit, one of the Gorosei comments on why the World Government would erase the name of Nika's fruit.
The Gorosei always refer to the WG in the first person, but in this instance they refer to the WG in the third person in the past tense, as if there had been a previous generation of Gorosei.
I just freaking love it when Yokai are used in a story somehow, especially like this, and even more so, I just love this freaking theory! I makes too much damn sense! Now the question is, what kind of Yokai is Imu? I still say Umibozu both because it’s ironic and scary given the original concept of Devil Fruits, but now I’m wondering if he might also be a Daidarabotchi! Either way, I am hyped!
Although this does also bring up the question… given the name Devil Fruit, it’s weakness to the seas as punishment and if this theory is true… is it possible that Imu somehow is the original creator of Devil Fruits? Something to think about.
Sorry, I think you missed the mark here. If we assume the Gorosei and Im all have yokai-related mythical zoan devil fruits, then none of the demonic black magic stuff is at all out of the ordinary. Mythical zoans have additional powers beyond just transformations, and awakened mythical zoans likely get even more powers (like Luffy). Any and all of the black magic demon stuff can be understood to be those special mythical powers, either from Saturn or one of the other Gorosei. It could be that one of them enables their telepathy, while another enables the summoning circles. This is a weak point of the argument imho.
This whole video falls apart when you apply the same logic to why Law has the fruit.

This is off topic but g5 is really getting annoying. Luffy is playing around with his opponents when he could easily taken care of them. Lucci got sentomaru injured. Kizaru killed vegapunk and had usopp in a choke hold and luffy was just laughing. Now saturn is bringing in strong fighter than can kill his crew. As well as robin being injured and probably trying not to be kidnapped by lucci. All while luffy is laughing his ass off. Its not the same luffy that destroy the mirror so no one reaches his crew in whole cake. Shanks jokes around but when he saw kid about to destroy his fleet he took care of the threat in seconds like a actual yonko.
At this point, I’m fairly convinced that most (but not all) of the Gorosei’s powers could be attributed the mythical zoan devil fruits.
Granted, at least based on what we’ve seen from Saturn, these could easily be some of the most powerful zoan type devil fruits in the series, but I’m going to list all the abilities that are plausibly due to devil fruits.
1. The zoan transformation
Saturns demon spider transformation is definitely a zoan ability. It’s clearly a creature which is what zoan devil fruits turn you into, and he has a very prominent cloud ribbon which is an indicator of zoan awakening
2. Regeneration
Saturns powers to regenerate are plausibly due to his zoan ability. Marco has regeneration powers that are definitely due to his zoan power so there’s precedent for that. Granted, this is a very different and possibly more advanced kind of regeneration. Also, mythical zoans are known for having secondary abilities aside from just the creature transformation, and this could easily be one of them.
3. Acid venom
This is definitely a zoan ability as it is consistent with the nature of spiders (some of them are very venomous).
4. Mind breaking
Saturns ability to make peoples heads explode and hold them in place with his look could also be a mythical zoan ability.
Now for powers that are most likely not to do with a mythical zoan fruit
1. Longevity
Though it is plausible that a powerful enough demon fruit could make someone immortal, all of the gorosei are immortal so it’s less likely since that would mean all of the gorosei’s devil fruits have this ability in common (which is plausible if they are all the same subclass of devil fruit, but I find it highly unlikely).
2. Telepathy
I don’t see how this could possibly be a devil fruit ability since this power seems to be only something that works amongst the Gorosei.
3. Demonic ritual teleportation
This power is also unlikely to be something that is due to a devil fruit as it is something that is clearly something that all Gorosei members can do.
So in summation, something that all the Gorosei can do is likely a Gorosei specific ability, whereas something that only specific members can do is likely a devil fruit ability.
At this point I think it’s likely that Saturns power to turn into a yokai spider and that spiders acid venom is a devil fruit power specific to Saturn.
The regeneration and ability to make peoples heads explode or freeze them in place may also be a power of Saturns devil fruit, unless the other Gorosei prove they can do those things too.
Telepathy, demon rituals and teleportation is definitely a power intrinsic to whatever the Gorosei are.
Vegapunk achieved cloning through science. Imu may have achieved cloning through magic. That’s an anti-parallel between the two if oda wants to make it.

That means you missed the point, most of the story is about enjoying the adventure... one piece isn't just about the ending (good or bad).
Think about all of the lessons learned, stories told, characters met, etc.
Since the Sabo scene I've said they are Imu's creations like Big Mom's homies.
So, far everything in one piece has come from an advanced golden age of human civilization. Anything we see in the series is science, this includes the Elder 5 and their abilities.

We don't know who bonnys father is yet people are just sumising that Saturn is her father its entirely possible it's some other celestial that is her father.

The idea of the gorosei always being in sync and all that comes with it is a strong point but I just don’t see it not being devil fruits. Saturn had the zoan clouds shared by other zoans, he had a hybrid and a fully transformed form so it all points to it being from a devil fruit. The telepathy and shared pentagram teleportation must imply something different but it might just be something we haven’t seen yet. At the very least, I think they’re creations that ate devil fruits
