I think that the reason Oda didn't tell about Nika earlier is because it would've been obvious that Luffy is Nika, or that Luffy inherited his will. And Oda didn't want the story to be predictable.
Since Toei began Egghead I cannot wait for the Kuma Flashback. Seeing the video reminded me of Kuma and his dad frequently doing the Nika dance and chanting Doon-Dut-Dut. I was so curious since I first read that in the manga what that sounded like. Hopefully toei does not disappoint.
I think Oda knows what his world contains, since he crafted it for decades. And he knows his last page. Aside from that, the way there doesn't depend on him, but on the characters, since they are alive in his head. That's why he always suprises us, since aside from the world and the ending everything happens according to the characters.
I agree that most people who have used Nika's name in the story so far make sense to know it and that his existence was foreshadowed more subtly through broader sun/dawn/Joy Boy-based legends. I think what I'm mainly puzzled about is the timing; how the last two arcs were the first to feature several characters who fully knew of the legend. It kinda just feels like a necessary consequence of trying to surprise the reader, reminiscent of the numerous story coincidences the Straw Hats found themselves in like stumbling across Momonosuke and Kin'emon or meeting Vegapunk right when he's set to be executed.
I think the eight circles on the outside of the sun symbol symbolize the eight islands that were followers of Nika: Alabasta, Jaya/Skypeia, Fishman Island, Wano, Sorbet, and now in Chapter 1106, Elbaf. We have 6, we are still missing 2. I think Zou is more than likely one but we haven’t seen the sun symbol so I can’t confirm. And then maybe whatever Water 7 or Tottoland were.

@@bluestarsaberstarwarsfan3838 Plus Oda can always have him conveniently eating or sleeping during such conversations. But then I'm still curious about this part of Whitebeard's speech: "And someday, someone will come, bearing the history of all those decades on his back will challenge the world to a fight" We've seen Luffy declare war on the world before, but when has he ever put history on his back?
MAMADRAWK CALLED IT!! She was only halfway through Loguetown where she theorized Luffy is Sun God, and when she reached Little Garden she solidified that theory. ❤
If the Kozuki line passed down the skill of writing poneglyphs, why couldn't they also pass down information about the void century like the story of Nika?
its not a coincidence that all ancient mythologies AND religions in our world are all actually “worship” of the sun as well. Its just been encoded through allegory and parables, not a coincidence that the dawn of our world is coming at the same time that this masterpiece is coming out.
Well, Kaido also knew about Sun God Nika and he was of Oni race. So there's some chances that the Onis also knew about Nika. Kaido and Yamato are the only two onis we have seen. Therefore, we can conclude that the Onis were also erased by the World Government since they knew about the Sun God. Okay guys, some corrections - Kaido didn't know about Nika but Joyboy. They are not the only Onis we have seen. Magellan was also a potential Oni, and there is a potential Oni in BB's crew too. Forgot his name.
Bc of the giants life spans we can assume that the void century isn’t that lost on them. They probably know what happened back then but the question is why haven’t they retaliated? Not even fighting the WG, but why haven’t they at least attempted to spread the truth throughout the world?

Oda simply retconned Luffy's DF in Wano to make his fight against the World Government even more symbolic (and to make him even more of a chosen one, as if he wasn't one to begin with). We can headcannon all we want and try to justify it but it's quite hard to believe that Oda, the guy who adds constant hints for mysteries that need hundreds of chapters to be explained, wasn't able to even mention this legendary sun god until what, 15 chapters before it showed up for the first time?
Not really when you know that the WG obviously erase all trace of sun god nika in the world, thats why we never heard of him until we reach the littéral Island closed to the rest of the world and the WG I know its frsutrating but it make sense that we year about him only now Just like IM or the god knights, until they become relevant in the story, it doesnt make sense to talk about them before
They didn’t say the name Nika, but the sun god was talked about during the skypiea ark even foreshadowing luffy dancing exactly like the picture of the legend.
@@Codeezey That's not foreshadowing. That's Oda retroactively making a small panel into something important later on. It would have been foreshadowing if we saw some painting about Nika in Shandora that had that exact pose, but we didn't.
@@Codeezey 1) There's also other gods mentioned in that same panel, so it doesn't mean anything. 2) A Sun god might be the most basic concept for a deity, it doesn't mean that Nika was planed since Skypiea.
What do you guys think about the “D.“s being the natural Enemies of the Gods and now Luffy being called a God himself? Does it go against the “Enemy of the Gods“ idea or does it work?
With the way Nika and the OG 20 Kingdoms/WG have been presented in the story, I think it's a pretty safe bet to say that Luffy and the WG are not the same types of "gods." The WG/ Celestial Dragons are false gods who have propped themselves up after defeating the Ancient Kingdom and suppressing their history. The Sun God and "Celestial Dragons/gods" are not the same type of gods.
@@hoowang9962 Yes, definitely false Gods. I mean can you be the enemy of the (false) gods and be called a god at the same time? I wonder how Oda will expand upon these things.
@@RaffyDGoat i mean think about it the false god who are putting up a act would def treat the real god/warrior of liberation as their enemy and i think D. clan members are the descendants of ancient kingdom
I'm thinking the Ancient Kingdom wasn't all sunshine and roses. The Fishmen have a history of slavery, but the troubles with fishmen started only 200 years ago? That's far from their entire history. So we're left to wonder "who's who?". Was the Ancient Kingdom truly who Joyboy fought to liberate? Or did Joyboy fight to end human and Buccaneer slavery at the hands of the stronger races? If he did, then perhaps his crime was going against calls for punitive slavery that came from his own side. He and his Buccaneer kin were enslaved for the stand they took to prevent the cycle of hatred from continuing. They fought their own side and lost. I think Joyboy was too early. Those old wounds had to heal before the dawn could come. I think the fishmen gained immunity by continuing the slave trade under the WG. Jinbe acknowledged the violence of fishmen at Marineford, but we all thought he was referring to Arlong. What if it's not so simple? I believe that 200 years ago, the fishmen broke the deal, releasing the Buccaneers and causing the Iron giant incident. Their knowledge of Joyboy is second hand. They gained that knowledge indirectly though the slaves they oversaw, explaining their vague awareness of a Sun God. The Buccaneers, once freed by the fishmen, located Joyboy's Iron Giant that he had used first to fight the Ancient Kingdom, and second to fight his own side. They began to play the drums of liberation, it then came to life and promptly assaulted Marie Jois. The fishmen freeing the Buccaneers is symbolic of those old wounds healing, setting the stage for the new dawn.
Fishman island wanting to live on the surface might have more to do with Nika than with their current living conditions. It's kinda silly that they don't want to settle any other underwater area. Their planet surface is like 4/5ths ocean and all they need is shallow water to experience sunlight, so what are they really waiting for?
I mean the problem here is that the Shandians were not separated from the World Government until the knock up stream 400 years ago, and they knew more than the Skypieans who were even more isolated from the rest of the world. Also, it does not explain how the two most isolated groups, Wano and Zou know less than the Fishman.
hey morj. did u notice that nika, the sun god, reincarnating in wano is not a coincident? wano is the portayal of japan and i think oda is deliberately telling us that japan is the land of the rising sun.

Do you guys think somehow the iron giant tipped off the rest of the giants of Nika's presence? And when they heard about it maybe Shanks explained how that was in fact Luffy? Idk I'm not one for providing hypotheses lol it was just a passing thought
The only thing that confuses me about Nika is that nobody at all said his name in the impel down arc. Just the whisper back then would’ve had the fanbase dying for years
Kuma is the only one to say everything about nika even about him giving freedom/liberation etc...even rubber powers/can do anything he imagine etc...even said he believes luffy is the one so i doubt oda will have another race know that much about nika outside the gorosei if someone knows i hope it's about joyboy like the fisherman/minks/wano/lunarians etc....only the buccaneers/giants ever said sun god
Personally speaking..a savior..one "true" lord narrative is something of a pass for me.I do think the story will diverge. If not,i think the story turned out to be something i wasn't expecting.A bunch of rag tag group of guys on an adventure with a purpose emerging. It also reduces the people who came before and other devil fruits.from whitebeard literally destroying marine head quarters to whales that kept banging on the walls with their heads.
Whitebeard gave a 2nd wind to the great pirate era, all these guys have sacrificed to preserve their hope that they'll be ready to overthrow the gov't, like Kuma and Dragon.

The editor did a great job depicting the real world examples in the beginning
yes that's why Kuma's story was so powerful, but why Bonnie is so important now, because even Kuma doesn't have the ability to communicate it.
The D always live a checkered life! It must be fate...shishishishi😅
I was inclined to believe that the Buccaneers were slaughtered due to their belief in Nika as I read Kuma's backstory.
Well Zou gets their sun from Wano, and Zunisha knows Joy Boy, but where the fuck did u get Tottoland?
@@williamrodriguez7065 my guess is history is repeating itself, and Luffy‘s allies are Joy Boy’s allies. So the dwarves/Totland were one of Joy Boy’s allies.
@@samfisher6606the 8th is possibly lunarian
@@77-7- Them too. That's why I want the next cover story to be King looking for more Lunarians. The "tribe at the top of the world" that had their home invaded when the CD wanted to build Marijoa feels too important.
I hope despite all this that Luffy is never made aware of this knowledge. Oda has been very careful keeping Luffy away from all conversations about ancient history pertaining to Joyboy or Nika
Given the giants are coming to save him and the straw hats now know thanks to vegapunk he very likely to know, though he is unlikely to care
In Hindu mythology Lord Hanuman was made aware of his divinity by Jambuban. Jambuban was a bear, so maybe Kuma will fulfil that role..
@@bluestarsaberstarwarsfan3838 Plus Oda can always have him conveniently eating or sleeping during such conversations.
But then I'm still curious about this part of Whitebeard's speech:
"And someday, someone will come, bearing the history of all those decades on his back will challenge the world to a fight"
We've seen Luffy declare war on the world before, but when has he ever put history on his back?
MAMADRAWK CALLED IT!! She was only halfway through Loguetown where she theorized Luffy is Sun God, and when she reached Little Garden she solidified that theory. ❤
This is why I'm subbed.
If the Kozuki line passed down the skill of writing poneglyphs, why couldn't they also pass down information about the void century like the story of Nika?
Interesting point about the giants life span having them be not so far removed from events of long ago for most characters
Your hair looks really good in this episode
The only way I could do that was if you wanted me too I could come and pick it out and then I would have it ready
Gotta include this in my BigNewsLetter No. 3!
thumbnail goes incredibly hard this week
What if Jaguar D Saul, or another pirate we just, is actually the grandson of the captain of the giant pirates who was alive during the void century?
I bet when we get to Laughtale or the if they go to the ancient kingdom, there will be buccaneers living there.
Very interesting
Morj reads between the lines again
Nice one
its not a coincidence that all ancient mythologies AND religions in our world are all actually “worship” of the sun as well.
Forgot his name.
it's wild that we got the name reveal from Who's Who, a character who's name i had to look up to remember it, lol
Bc of the giants life spans we can assume that the void century isn’t that lost on them. They probably know what happened back then but the question is why haven’t they retaliated? Not even fighting the WG, but why haven’t they at least attempted to spread the truth throughout the world?
8:21 I like how Morj chose Inuarashi instead of Carrot to represent the minks despite her being literally appointed as their leader. Goes to show how much of a forced conclusion that was for her character.
We can find legitimate explanations for anything in a story, even outright inconsistencies, if we are interested enough.
i really don't think kuma is the last buccaneer in existence, even if explicitly stated there's always a chance that there's another one or 2 out there
How are the residents of Zou not intimately familiar with Nika when Zunesha clearly has major ties to Joyboy?
Because unlike Chopper they don't speak with animals
The Minks can't communicate with Zunesha. They have no clue what he knows
@@TheRockerX still odd that they of all races seem the most in the dark about joyboy compared to even the fish men
Zunseha is not particularly informative unless you have the Voice of all Things.
@@floriandolder8111 Zunesha doesn’t have to spell it out for them. Like shouldn’t Nika at least be in Mink history books and shit like that? The Dog and Cat rode with Roger too. Them being completely in the dark doesn’t make sense
Bruh, the comments section are cooking 🔥. You guys are geniuses.
13:45 Morj: Excuse me sir, do you have time to talk about our lord and savior nika? 😂
Heck the name of the ship is Thousand Sunny!!
Did you know that Big Mom and the Rocks Pirates were in Disney's Treasure Planet?
Oda simply retconned Luffy's DF in Wano to make his fight against the World Government even more symbolic (and to make him even more of a chosen one, as if he wasn't one to begin with). We can headcannon all we want and try to justify it but it's quite hard to believe that Oda, the guy who adds constant hints for mysteries that need hundreds of chapters to be explained, wasn't able to even mention this legendary sun god until what, 15 chapters before it showed up for the first time?
Not really when you know that the WG obviously erase all trace of sun god nika in the world, thats why we never heard of him until we reach the littéral Island closed to the rest of the world and the WG
I know its frsutrating but it make sense that we year about him only now Just like IM or the god knights, until they become relevant in the story, it doesnt make sense to talk about them before
They didn’t say the name Nika, but the sun god was talked about during the skypiea ark even foreshadowing luffy dancing exactly like the picture of the legend.
@@Codeezey That's not foreshadowing. That's Oda retroactively making a small panel into something important later on. It would have been foreshadowing if we saw some painting about Nika in Shandora that had that exact pose, but we didn't.
@@Codeezey
1) There's also other gods mentioned in that same panel, so it doesn't mean anything.
2) A Sun god might be the most basic concept for a deity, it doesn't mean that Nika was planed since Skypiea.
Hey Morj, what song did you use at 7:15-8:00? Nice track.
I wonder how Oda will expand upon these things.
the people with d are most probably the soldiers or crewmates of nika now
@@RaffyDGoat i mean think about it the false god who are putting up a act would def treat the real god/warrior of liberation as their enemy and i think D. clan members are the descendants of ancient kingdom
Bro it’s been hyped asf since finding out luffy was the sun god nika I just can’t wait to see who has the other 3 god fruits and how robust their awakened abilities are bro this final war/saga finna be some different 😊
Im very curious how the life action will handle the nika lore
Yep. I think a clear indication or even bringing him early on would be good
Excellent video Morj, keep up the great work 👍🏿
1:10 …but with surfshark only for 4,99$ a month , you can…
I just know a certain subreddit will be mad asf about this video lmaoo
Who’s that?
Clash of clans reddit?
Fishmen didn't know, because Oda decide d add nika later
Do you guys think somehow the iron giant tipped off the rest of the giants of Nika's presence? And when they heard about it maybe Shanks explained how that was in fact Luffy? Idk I'm not one for providing hypotheses lol it was just a passing thought
Doom-Dut-Da-Da! Doom-Dut-Da-Da!
Ready for the race war 🥵
nika is mentioned first time in fishman island
The only thing that confuses me about Nika is that nobody at all said his name in the impel down arc. Just the whisper back then would’ve had the fanbase dying for years
Kuma is the only one to say everything about nika even about him giving freedom/liberation etc...even rubber powers/can do anything he imagine etc...even said he believes luffy is the one so i doubt oda will have another race know that much about nika outside the gorosei if someone knows i hope it's about joyboy like the fisherman/minks/wano/lunarians etc....only the buccaneers/giants ever said sun god
Will you talk about the Wit Studio The One Piece anime adaptation?
Not sure how many people share this opinion already, but I believe that Pudding’s fruit was likely used to erase people’s memory of the sun god Nika
Nika was born after the raid will not fail theory failed
It’s true that Jim didn’t react to Lupe’s gear five but I think the freshman might know something about nika because when who’s who brought it up in their fight Jimbei got extremely angry and beat the shit out of bro low-key😭
No oni joyboy candidate kaido or ancient giant Oars with strawhats an luffy possessed with joyboy nika moves
Reality = Fiction
Fiction = Reality
Saturn’s raid is gonna fail
Every race's connection to 'Nika' 💀
In NIKA we trust 2024 😂🤑
Bc it was fucking retconned it wasnt foreshadowed it was shoehorned into the story
Luffy x Nami at the end GGWP :)
The true mystery is the prisoner who told whos who about nika, who are they? How do they know about nika?
Luffy doesn't want to be a hero. What makes anyone think he wants to be a God?
No one is saying Luffy wants to be a God
@@RaffyDGoat " no one" because two giants didnt come for their god.
I don't think he gets a choice. Look at how the Grand Fleet joined him.
sure, he doesn't want to be a hero but the fact of the matter is that he always ends up being one for every island he visits
What Luffy wants or doesnt want is completely irrelevant, he is sun God Nika, wether he likes it or not
Why do you keep deleting ur chapter videos 😔😭
What about Kaido race?
The WG just said “nuh-uh” a lot until people stopped believing in Nika.
Why did we never hear about Nika before wano ? Because was an ass pull by oda
One Piece is beautiful.
Did Roger even know Nika?
