    While even sand is relatively cheap, anyone doing more than a one-off should spend and might want to try to recycle the sand and save that $25-40 in sand cost. I built a sort of half-tent from cheap plastic drop cloths and spare pvc/2x4 inside an old kiddie wading pool which catches 90+% water and sand. Drilled a few holes in the wading pool, covered with cloth and cover it from rain and let it dry out as much as possible.
    Old screen tacked to a square of 2x4 and screed out the big stuff over a 55g steel drum, and I can run a camping stove or propane heater underneath it to really dry it out if I need it faster.
    Saving some money and not having tons of sand around is a win-win at the expense of a little time.

    You are missing a fundamental point: What sand size must be used??? I'm familiar with sandblasters and I Know the wrong stuff messes up the machine. OTHER people have asked this, and you haven't answered. ( & FYI, soda doesn't dissolve. Try it in a glass of water.)

    Hello gentlemen, yes, all the equipment and treatments that exist to eliminate corrosion in the metal are fine, but the big problem if they start to analyze is that these pressure accumulating systems such as compressors and storage tanks sometimes contain flammable liquids. ... if they present this aspect on the outside, imagine how they will be on the inside then I propose that the rules be regulated and all sealed pressure cylinders or accumulators that cannot be verified internally be labeled with dates ... of course if they do it with a probe perfect camera but we are falling into a dangerous practice that only recovers the external appearance of these containers or cylinders we leave them as new but dangerously we mislead their resistance or durability by lengthening or rather exceeding the durability of the metal remember that the humidity that many times is not eliminated completely in compressors plus internal pressure 80 to 120 and more psi further degrade the metal to yes ... these cylinders should be labeled and eliminated and in general all cylinders closed from time to time as a rule ... regards

      This is a variable which would depend on your PSI & GPM of the pressure washer. But, our tests show using a 5 gpm pressure washer we were able to completely remove well adhered paint from a steel surface at 1 square foot per minute and 10 lbs of blasting media was used in this time.

      It's never a bad call to wear PPE, but there's not a lot of dust with the wet sandblast kit. Plus, using a silica free blasting abrasive like coal slag or synthetic olivine makes things safer too.

    On the video, was the media valve open a little bit or a lot? I bought a cheaper version years ago and I could not get it to work right, I think I had the media valve open all the way and with 8gpm at 3000psi the media was coming out in bursts, not continuous like in your video. A helper lost it in a move so I was thinking about buying another if I could get it to work. I have 5.5gpm at 3000psi and 8gpm at 3000psi machines. Thanks.

    • @PowerEagleUSA
      @PowerEagleUSA  8 років тому +2

      +Superiorpowerwash Your pressure washers are ideal for the wet sandblast kit. I tried a very fine media one time and it came through in bursts like you describe. I switched to a courser media and it fed evenly. I recommend 20-40 Black Beauty or similar product.

    Any pointers on flash rusting. Water and blasting steel will flash rust. Using water on aluminum is easy with just normal blowing off or using the sun or a fan to dry it. Thanks

    • @PowerEagleUSA
      @PowerEagleUSA  9 років тому +1

      duke barron You can use a rust inhibitor like HoldTight to prevent flash rust on steel. I've always had excellent paint adhesion by simply doing a fresh water rinse then blowing off with compressed air. You'll get a slight haze of oxidation, but I've never had an issue with the final paint product. You can also better paint adhesion by using a phosphatizing product like our Polished Aluminum Cleaner after blasting. This will further etch the surface and remove contaminates, but you'll still want to do a fresh water rinse and blow dry.

      Matthew Devine That info will help guys a lot. I knew it already but they would not unless they did some research on this type of blasting. I have a water blast unit but not your and have never used it. Really never had a need for it yet. I have two blast cabinets and also a ALC blasting setup. I have even talked some guys into buying something like what you have and the main reason was they needed to blast outside and not have media effecting people next door because the water put the media right on the ground and not all over the place. But what guys also need to know and that is by chance they want to use soda and not other media then do not use it around grass or shrubs because it will destroy it. Have a great one and thanks for the fast reply.

      Use "hold tight 102" rust inhibitor. It neutralizes any potassium/salt that's left on the surface from nature and the water supply as well as it inhibits flash rust. You can use a garden hose with a weed n feed garden attachment on it with the 102 in it to rinse off your project after you've blasted it. It works well and the 102 is a very common inhibitor in the industry.

    What is your opinion on using this with a pressurized sandblaster, to assist with delivering the media to the nozzle? I have been thinking of connecting an old Harbor Freight sandblaster to it and adjusting the media flow at the sandblaster.

    • @PowerEagleUSA
      @PowerEagleUSA  6 років тому +1

      Hi Charles, our wet sandblast kit draws plenty of sand on it's own. All you'll need is a open top container to hold sand, the sand probe will sit down in the container and pull sand no problem. You will want 3000-4000 PSI and around 4 GPM for best results.

      I know this is an old vid and question, however there is a YT video where a guy is using a HF pressurized blasting tank to do what you're thinking and it seemed to work great. PE really should target the very large market of home DIY'ers who have 2800-3000psi 2.6-2.8gpm power washers. And some specs on how long your tips last and replacement cost is rather critical.

      +chris kenyon The sand suction is produced by the venturi effect inside the sandblast head. The force of the water through the head creates suction enough to pull sand through the 25' sand hose. It does not need a pressure pot. We do ship to the UK, please email for a specific quote info@powereagleusa.com. Here is the link to our website which includes details and pricing. www.powereagleusa.com/wet-sandblast-kit/

    can i use soda with this kit ?

    • @PowerEagleUSA
      @PowerEagleUSA  9 років тому +1

      +Mauricio Martinez I have never used soda, but I would imagine that a water soluble media like soda would not work with the wet sandblast kit. Best media I've used is Black Beauty (coal slag) or a synthetic olivine. I know you can purchase Black Beauty at stores like Tractor Supply or Harbor Freight. I would also try to find it in bulk (pallet quantity) from a local media blasting business in order to find it at the lowest price.

    • @komoru

      It can work but you will need 3/4 water hose and it will be considerably slower. I have a 4000 psi pressure and it is phenomenally quick and easy (and messy). Much quicker than dry sandblasting, but I have an industrial pressure washer.

      +Jakup Andreasen Ideally, you'll want aprox 3000 PSI @ 4 GPM or more. This is often seen on 13HP Honda (GX390) or on 8hp electric motor units.

      Both PSI and GPM are important. 3000 PSI @ 4 GPM was what we used in this video. Below 4 GPM and 3000 PSI you'll get slower work speed. The bigger, the better.

      Thanks for the question. There are a few reasons our kit costs more (sorry its long). First, it ships 100% plug-and-play and includes its own high quality American made gun/wand assy. When you place your order, we'll ask you the PSI & GPM ratings for your pressure washer. We do this in order to preconfigure the kit to your specific needs to ensure it works properly. In other words, we take all the guesswork out and guarantee it will work because of this. Other kits require you to either purchase separately, or reuse your own gun and wand (which is inconvenient) , most also don’t come with any internal nozzles or provide guidance on how to properly select which one to install. Many other kits come with sand hose that is made in China and has a very soft sidewall. During competitive testing we found this hose collapses on itself and inhibits sand flow. We use quality, American made hose with a more rigid sidewall to prevent this from happening. We also found hoses in other kits can kink at both the gun end and the sand hopper end, so we use American made stainless steel anti-kink guards to prevent this and ensure even sand flow. We use a 5 degree internal spray nozzle to provide better coverage, if others give you a nozzle (which many won’t) it will be a zero degree and provide less coverage. Our kits are assembled by hand here in America. They are 100% guaranteed to work and guaranteed not to clog. We back it will unlimited phone support and include free shipping. We understand our kit costs more. If you value better quality and peace of mind, this is the best solution available. If you have further questions, please call our office 800-422-2332

    It's too bad they did not show how to hook it up, show the sand barrel or bag and what type of sand and were you get it, and how it's drawn into the hose you know, a whole overview like the instructions may show...we can see it works but there is more to it than waving a hose around and spraying a old tank. Now, we may need to call AOC and see if she knows, but she's probably still too amazed by her garbage disposal encounter.

      It won't clog as long as the pressure washer being used meets or exceeds our recommended specs. 4 GPM or more and 3000-4000 PSI. With these specs met, you won't have an issue.
