One of Jasper Carrotts greatest stand ups was the insurance claim statements, great reaction Amanda 🤣. He also did a sitcom with Robert Powell called the Detectives.
Here's my own "Insurance Claim" from many years ago. - I was in the TA, back in the 60’s, and driving a Bedford 4 ton RL. In those days the A38, from Plymouth to Exeter, was more of a 45 mile long, very twisty, farm track, rather than the euphemistically re-named “Devon Expressway” that it is now. On one of the downhill “twistier” bits, just West of Drumbridges, I was, perhaps, a little bit too far to the right going into a tight bend, whilst unseen by me, coming up the hill was an RAF “Queen Mary”, also a bit out to its right, with a Hawker Hunter jet, with its wings removed, on the trailer, coming towards me. We both saw each other when it was far too late to do anything about it, and the starboard wing stub went just over the cab of my RL, and neatly removed the canvas tilt and framing from the back of my truck. We both stopped, and once our shaking had stopped, “pissed ourselves” laughing over the completely ludicrous FMT3 Accident/Insurance forms we sent in. Mine included a great sketch showing an aircraft taking off my canopy, and the RAF drivers showed the same aircraft hitting my lorry. No mention being made of it being on the trailer I never heard anything about it afterwards, although I did have a hard time explaining the damaged canopy, and I would dearly have loved to have seen the reaction of whoever received our reports over the next few days.
He had a number one record in the 70s called Funky Moped. He had to put that on it as the real reason it was number one, was Magic Roundabout on the B side, that was a dirty sketch based on the kids TV show and he wasn’t allowed to have that in the charts 😁
If you haven't already, I think he is known in the US, watch some Billy Connolly. Same era as Jasper and regarded by many as one of, if not the, best stand up Britain has produced. It's long but his 'An Audience With ...' is well worth a viewing.
He was always on TV when I grew up in the 70s, and through 80s and 90s. Parents loved him and I always have too. His observational humour is brilliant.
I’m so happy to see this - I have to say I have not seen any jasper in years and it was really so nice to see him again. I had forgotten how amazing he was.
My parents had all of the records of Jasper Carrott's shows which were listened to frequently, and had me in stitches for hours. His daughter Lucy has starred in many british sitcoms and films, like the office and shaun of the dead
Made his money out of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire when he sold his share in the production company that owned the show. Probably why we didn't see him in later years. Great to see him again. The 'nutter on the bus' skit is a particular fave
I suggest you check out his "Magic Roundabout" I you are not familiar with it The Magic Roundabout was a children's cartoon series on TV but after his take on it you'll never think about it the same way ever again
Ah, Jasper (Robert Davis), from my home town. Had the pleasure of dealing with him in my official capacity within aviation, and seeing him perform at the Boggery Folk club. I’m sure he will not mind me saying this, but he was once regarded as Birmingham’s answer to the superior Billy Connolly (Who has no equals). If you ever come across Jasper asking about why MG Midget drivers are over 6ft tall, that was based on me. As for the ‘Mole’ sketch, I concur with previous posts. Amanda, you must check that out for yourself. It will put your infectious giggling and snorting into overdrive.....trust me.
Same here, my home town too. Do you remember him talking about the time he drove "Masons Grocers" van to Lady Byron Lane or the "Nutter" on the bus in Small Heath. Used to see him times in Knowle on a Friday collecting his curry ..... I think he lives in Devon now?
Lucy Davies, who plays Dawn the Receptionist in the original British The Office, is Jasper's daughter. An interviewer once asked her "Why did you change your name?" She just shook her head and replied "At what point did you think 'Davies' was the made up name?"
Comedy about every day things is the best Jasper, Peter Kay, and the late Dave Allen and you have watched all 3 were 3 of the best, keep making these great clips Amanda.
I saw Jasper live a year or two before lockdown. It was the same routines I’d seen him do on programme after programme after programme on TV - including the insurance claim forms - to the point that I knew word for word what he was going to say before he said it. But it was still as hilariously funny as the first time I’d heard it. It was a brilliant night out. The show had been postponed as he had to have urgent heart surgery. He looked like he’d been ill, but he was still fantastic! My favourite routine is the one he does about the dog and the Chinese restaurant. I haven’t heard him do that one for a long time.
As mentioned the detectives was brilliant wish they would air it again, but as you have seen his stand up comedy is great too ,one of the few standup comedienne I like as I am very picky
Well done Amanda! My favourite `old school` comedian. Used to crack me up when i was a kid, still does. Still love that cute little snort you do when youre laughing.😂
He was on tour a few years ago with his childhood mate, Bev Bevan the drummer from ELO, a fantastic rock & comedy tour! It was absolutely brilliant but unfortunately I think he had a heart attack halfway around and had to postpone a bunch of it. He still came back and finished it off but I'm guessing there won't be much more of those :( Also saw him at the Albert Hall back in the late 80's, always been a comedy hero of mine.
He made a lot of money from the sale of Celador (to Sony Television), the production company he helped set up and yes it is named after Cellar Door. They created many popular shows like Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, which ironically made him a millionaire.
Little bit of Trivia. Jasper was the first comic to do a live performance on UK TV. To prove it, he brought a TV onto stage and showed himself. He also told people the ending of the film on ITV and said that there's no point in watching it now. The show was titled "Unrecorded", which later appeared on a vinyl record with the "Un" crossed out. Two part that I remember vividly are "I've got this mole" and "Do you know you can set light to a fart". I also think it had the nutter on the bus sketch.
Carrot was one of the first wave of observation comedians. He and Billy Connolly were pretty unique in the early to mid 70s. Someone else has mentioned the "mole" routine but his "I've got a dog" routine is fabulous too.
He did a bit about when he was out in Hong Kong. Having lived there for three years, I was nearly wetting myself with laughter as I could picture and relate to it. My wife though, sat there and didn’t understand what was so funny.
As I recall that was the sketch about authentic street food, with the restaurant owner chasing the chicken round the street with a meat cleaver -I've still got that one on tape!
Jasper is one of our funniest comedians and one of the first to push the boundaries of comedy, he used to be a big star and had his own TV show and also was a quiz show presenter for years but i haven't seen him for years now, i recommend the "Magic Roundabout", this was one of the first rude comedy routines i ever heard and it's still funny now.
Jasper's reference to a stairlift remined me of his joke: Stannah has brought out a new stairlift. It's called The Rapide. It gets you to the top of the stairs before you've forgotten what you are going there for.
I know this is 2 years old but when you think that Jimmy Carr is so over the top. He did have inspirations and I'm sure our jasper was one of them. This really took me back to when i was a kid. Thanks Amanda.
I saw Jasper Carrott Live in 1977, in the outdoors Amphitheatre in Episkopi, Cyprus. He was part of the show that included a guy called Wally Whyton, a Musician, Songwriter, TV & Radio personality. May he R.I. P. I'll never forget one of them saying "I was going to do an impression of a Prat but that guy beat me to it" while pointing to the Prat in the audience who was mouthing off. Amanda, if you liked Jasper Carrott you are not the first US lady to do so - he once dated Condoleezza Rice. "They met in 1975 in Rice's birthplace, Birmingham, Alabama, during a "twinning weekend" in which citizens from other Birminghams were welcomed and invited to set up cultural exchanges. Midlands-born Carrott, 30, had just released his first single Funky Moped and was touring the southern states. Rice was 21, and recently graduated in political science from the University of Denver. At their first meeting, Rice introduced herself with the words, "I'm Condoleezza," to which Carrott reportedly replied "My condolences." Their friendship grew through music (he played guitar, she the piano) and a shared interest in politics. They renewed their acquaintance in 1976 when Rice travelled to Carrott's Birmingham. Together they appeared together in a production of The Mikado in Wolverhampton. The response was mixed, and racist ill-feeling was held to blame for some poor reviews. Carrott defused the situation by commenting: "This isn't a race issue, folks. It's just a Rice issue!" In his autobiography, 24 Carrott Gold, he paid tribute to his former girlfriend: "I'd never met anybody like her - so fiery, ambitious and gung-ho, but with a sweet, sensitive, artistic nature underneath it all. And believe me, she was a ferocious kisser." "
I was a big fan of Jasper Carrott in the early 1990s, along with Billy Connolly. My first real experience of stand up comedians. But if you want to see Carrott at his best, you need to watch The Detectives. Such an underrated comedy series!
@@LADYRAEUK The TV series were all 30-ish minute episodes, but if you want a good short clip, the best one I can think of is the "Drugs sketch" they did as part of one of Carrott's shows.

Hi Amanda, my family always loved watching Jasper`s comedy. Lookout for Canned Carrott where he made fun of our adverts. Also as mentioned by Marshal Palmer, The Detectives, which was a sitcom where he acted alongside Robert Powell & they were aided by George Sewell. The latter gave weight to his part, as he had played a similar role but in the tv drama Series, Special Branch 20yrs earlier. He also played a "heavy" in the great 1971 film Get Carter & was in other tv Series, I enjoyed. As well as this comedy, I particularly liked Robert`s earlier work in the (remarkably on point) Sci-fi drama Doomwatch in the early `70`s & in the thriller/mystery film Harlequin in 1980.
I remember watching this when I was quite young! A lot funner now I understand the jokes better 😂 A great reaction video would be The Two Ronnies Mastermind clip. It's the Ronnies at their best! Looking forward to your next video x
Amanda, I'm so pleased you found Carrot, I've been watching him from the outset. Dig out his early gear, The Magic Roundabout, The Mole in fact anything from his early years, Thoroughly thoroughly enjoyable.
I used to love watching his "Commercial Breakdowns" where he showed, and commented on, some of the funniest TV adverts from around the globe, and loved listening to him quoting Insurance Claim forms. This routine had me collapsing in my chair. The bit about his daughter bringing home a yoyo damned near killed me.
I was fortunate to see Jasper Carrott live...he did a set that was well over 2 hours long, and my sides were sore with laughing! He has some records out - yes, i got them on vinyl - well worth listening to!
Fab reaction, thank you! Funnily enough, we're going to see Jasper Carrott live on Sunday ... this has really got me excited! My favourite routine of his is 'The Nutter on the Bus', closely followed by 'There's only one way to get rid of a mole'. Brilliant 😂
Haha you finally got round to watching one of Jasper Carrot’s clips! I know I was one of those who recommended him. He can be quite funny but as you rightly noticed it’s also his facial expressions and hand gestures that can make every day things even funnier 😂 I loved watching him back then. Also as I think someone else pointed out he was in a sitcom with Robert Powell called the detectives which was good, and also another called ‘all about me’ which was a comedy sitcom and was pretty good! Great vid Amanda! Hope you’re well! 💙
Jasper was the first to do the accident claim form routine. It's been copied by several comedians since... "24 Carat Gold" was 30 years ago, and it's still as relevant today...
Superb Carrott, one of the very best... you need to watch the story about the Mole very funny... and mick miller's story about the radio presenter doin NODDY very funny... Amanda
I think his accent helps too being from the Midlands. One of my favourite comedian's. I hope your not just watching comedy. England has some pretty amazing buildings and countryside not to mention the jurassic coast! Maybe a reaction to a old 1000 + year old church.
Victoria Wood is almost a female version of Jasper. She was an "observational" comedian but not as harsh on those she observed. There are many of her shows on fb, you would probably like her "Dinner Ladies" now that you understand our humour. Still find Jasper laugh out loud funny.
Hi Amanda I am a Brit I love this guy seen it before but I still have tears rolling down my cheeks JC is brilliant try and watch some of his shows when he was younger 😎👍🇬🇧
"Coming home I drove into the wrong driveway and collided with a tree I haven't got", "I thought the side window was down but it was up, and I found out when I put my head through it", "I used the horn to warn the bloke but it would not work as it was stolen", all more variations from carrott.
The "I've got a mole" sketch used to have me in tears, as did a lot of his stuff.

You are correct, I was just about to make the same comment.
@@LADYRAEUK he is right she is , the receptionist
Lucy Davis also starred in the first Wonder Woman film from a few years back.
Amanda, I love your reactions.
thank you so much :))
I was lucky enough to watch Jasper live when I was younger and his delivery is still funny
I remember watching this when I was quite young! A lot funner now I understand the jokes better 😂 A great reaction video would be The Two Ronnies Mastermind clip. It's the Ronnies at their best! Looking forward to your next video x
Thanks, you just took me back a few years!…..hadn’t see him for ages.
😊🙌
Magic roundabout brilliant
👍🏻
Amanda, I'm so pleased you found Carrot, I've been watching him from the outset. Dig out his early gear, The Magic Roundabout, The Mole in fact anything from his early years, Thoroughly thoroughly enjoyable.
Also "The nutter on the bus"
I will check it out! Hope you're well :)
One of my favourites is Lollipop the dog, Hilarious
I used to love watching his "Commercial Breakdowns" where he showed, and commented on, some of the funniest TV adverts from around the globe, and loved listening to him quoting Insurance Claim forms.
This routine had me collapsing in my chair. The bit about his daughter bringing home a yoyo damned near killed me.
I was fortunate to see Jasper Carrott live...he did a set that was well over 2 hours long, and my sides were sore with laughing! He has some records out - yes, i got them on vinyl - well worth listening to!
Just a really funny man. Grew up watching him. Glad you've discovered him at last, Amanda. 😊
:)
Look at the cartoon version about trying to get rid of moles
I’ve watched your channel for a while, thank you for making me happy, I hope your dad is very proud of you
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that 😊
You might like a look at Mike Harding... Also a bit crazier Kenny Everret. The Goon show was a good one, Spike Milligan comic genius.
I’ll have a look 😊👍🏻
the comedy is funny - your reactions are priceless
Thank you 😊
Legend. Funny Fella. Not many comedians make me laugh so much. Helps to have a comedy face. There's many more sketches he's made that are funnier.
Agreed 👍🏻👍🏻
One of the very best. Needs to be heard more.
Jasper doing Wiggy the DIY man is great too.
You did miss the bit right at the end when he talks about what modern Love Hearts say "I'm gagging for it" 😂😂😂😂
I love your reactions Rae
He always had great observational humour and stories I always thought he was brilliant, and he still is.
:)) agreed!
Fab reaction, thank you! Funnily enough, we're going to see Jasper Carrott live on Sunday ... this has really got me excited! My favourite routine of his is 'The Nutter on the Bus', closely followed by 'There's only one way to get rid of a mole'. Brilliant 😂
Jasper Carrott is one of the all-time greats, I've not seen him in years, thanks for that, Amanda. 👍
Haha you finally got round to watching one of Jasper Carrot’s clips! I know I was one of those who recommended him. He can be quite funny but as you rightly noticed it’s also his facial expressions and hand gestures that can make every day things even funnier 😂
I loved watching him back then.
Really enjoying watching all these amanda
Love your videos and your laugh, big love from Scotland ❤️
Thank you 😊
Superb Carrott, one of the very best... you need to watch the story about the Mole very funny... and mick miller's story about the radio presenter doin NODDY very funny... Amanda
Jasper carrots the magic roundabout is a must aswell
True classic brummie comic
I’ll check it out 👍🏻
I think his accent helps too being from the Midlands. One of my favourite comedian's. I hope your not just watching comedy. England has some pretty amazing buildings and countryside not to mention the jurassic coast! Maybe a reaction to a old 1000 + year old church.
We always looked forward to Jasper's TV shows, no foul language just brilliant humour.
Victoria Wood is almost a female version of Jasper. She was an "observational" comedian but not as harsh on those she observed. There are many of her shows on fb, you would probably like her "Dinner Ladies" now that you understand our humour. Still find Jasper laugh out loud funny.
The first stand up comedian to have his own show on Tv, even before Dave Allen,
That made me chuckle! I'd forgotten how good he is! I wanted more!
🤣😊
Jasper tells a wonderful story about his Labrador dog it’s worth watching
What a talented comedian he was wow i was in tears watching that 😢 amazing need more comedy like these days
And thank you for all your videos, just thank you
Hi Amanda I am a Brit I love this guy seen it before but I still have tears rolling down my cheeks
JC is brilliant try and watch some of his shows when he was younger 😎👍🇬🇧
🙌
Jasper's earlier stuff was hilarious - try "I've got this Mole" - there's even an animated version.
A work of genius
👍👍
Amanda.x you do pull out the classics.. when growing up he was one of men I could laugh with! Beautiful reaction. Cheer's Gorgeous 🇬🇧
Was one of the greats. Truly overlooked.
"Coming home I drove into the wrong driveway and collided with a tree I haven't got", "I thought the side window was down but it was up, and I found out when I put my head through it", "I used the horn to warn the bloke but it would not work as it was stolen", all more variations from carrott.
