The “I’ll bury it alive “ joke often gets missed.
Missed the visual 'Mole Flanders' gag as well
Also at the start when he says "I've got this mole" I think a lot of people thought he meant a mole on the body which is why he got a loud laugh when he said it was making a hell of a mess of his garden! Have always loved Jasper C.
Takes me back to my childhood in the 70’s listening to Jasper telling this tale.

This sketch is an absolute classic , first heard this back in the late 70s . His book , 'A little zit on the side' is a great read .
Another good bit by Jasper is his tale of a driving trip with the mother in law. Worth a watch.

Aww childhood memories! My parents had the LP and I always remember putting the record on and laughing crazily about the lighthouse bit 🤣
If you can find them, my favourite audio clips from Carrot were “ The visit to the posh girlfriend” and best of all his Hong Kong visit routine. He was one of the crop of comic raconteurs (Mike Harding & Billy Connolly were others) popular in the 60’s & 70’s who all put out LPs. Another was Blaster Bates, who wasn’t a comic but a genuine explosives expert who took his stories on the road & managed to sell out theatres all over the UK. Genuine Gold.

Love this tale. The same clip you used was on the juke box of a local pub I used to visit in the 80s.

Jasper Carrot- a real different style of British comedy. Gentler but still just as funny. Great stuff

My parents started renting a VHS video recorder in 1982 for the first showing of Star Wars. After that they taped various things and this was one of them, so this was a real trip down memory lane. It was a lot of fun to revisit and hear your reactions to. It had been decades since I last saw this and I never expected to it to come up in an American reaction series!
I love the Money Pit too! There was a big thing in the 80s of buying a 'unique fixer upper opportunity' to sell for profit later. It seems obvious now after forty years of this sort of nonsense, but 'unique fixer upper opportunity' was estate agent language for 'worthless and should be condemned'. So we lived through the plot of the Money Pit and loved that film when it came out. It's not much exaggerated. I used to get to my bedroom as a child of about ten by walking a plank over a ten foot drop. And then there was the time we just had to evacuate and spent a great summer in a real house with friends after they dislodged 100 years of soot..

I forgotten how funny Jasper Carrot is, he was on of my favourite stand up comedians, very funny guy and he doesn’t use any swear words in his act

One of favourite sketches from Jasper but it is better told in his standup shows. I had moles in my Garden in a previous house and the poison did work, did feel a bit mean afterwards , but I had a family of them and they were very destructive. We live right next to Windsor Great Park in the UK and they have lots of moles over there but they are allowed to live as its a very big park and they bother no one. Jasper does a good sketch about Biff his dog ( a Golden Labrador) which is worth listen too. He is a story teller. Another on eis about is mother in law trying to learn to drive
He used to have prime time live shows on BBC1 on Saturday night. I was looking for one of his where he gives his mother-in-law a driving lesson. He also used to talk about Reliant Robins which were a three wheeled car.

It’s interesting that you say Jasper Carrot is different from other comedians you’ve heard. He’s from the late-60s and 70s.
In the early 1980s there was a wave of “alternative comedy” that upended British comedy in general and changed almost everything (for the better) traditional comedy acts became very unfashionable - Shaggy dog stories, mother-in-law jokes and casual racism was out, and social commentary and surrealism was in.
Jasper Carrot was one of the very few “old style” comedians to survive, mainly because his material avoided sexism and bigotry (but also because he hired Punt and Dennis of the new wave to write new jokes for him in the 80s).
Money Pit is a very underrated movie.
Birmingham City going to Old Trafford with his mate was also hysterical. Probably a little ' local ' for outside the UK football scene .. references that may not travel well.
My Dad has a mole and he loves it. Any time he wants really fine soil, he just uses a mole hill.

Being from ths same town as Jasper and support the same football (soccer team) as him, he has always been a favorite of mine I remeber as a young child in the late 70s Inused to sneak listening to Jasper on cassette along with Billy Connolly an Derek and Clive (Peter Cook and Dudley Moore's alter egos) it was exciting as we were not supposed to listen to them as they were adult themes and often cussing and swearing. Anyway some more greta Jasper Carrott sketeches are Loopy Labrador, Terribly Posh and Mother In Laws Driving all great sketches
Moles are a pain in the backside. My daddy couldn’t work out how the mole had got into our garden across a road from the field. I didn’t tell him I caught it from the field, brought it over, got bored and let it go ! I think he sussed it as next day i waited by a mole hill in the field for over two hours for another one ! 😹

I have had a mole in my garden, Jasper is not exaggerating, though I didn't go as far as using a shotgun, just the trap and mole fuse, They didn't work for me either, at best they may have annoyed it enough to go somewhere else.
Once, I rescued one from the River Lea, the power of their front legs and the speed at which they can disappear underground is amazing.
Jasper can also sing, I recommend Bantam Cock, it's hilarious
Best film, where Bill Murrays character had a similar problem, but with goffers instead of moles. Caddyshack. 😂😂😂

I remember finding Jasper Carrott funny in 1973…then again Lenny Henry was considered funny in 1973 we were quite unsophisticated back then. We have had some true comedy greats since then which has made all the difference

Back in the early nineties I was in the military and working at a location that had a massive mole problem. Because of security we used to have to escort the mole catcher when he visited. Watching that man work was amazing. All he had was a shovel….we would wait quietly near some fresh molehills and look for movement. As soon as he spotted something he’d leap into action with his spade and in one deft flick he’d spin the mole out of the mound and smack it on the head to kill it. I remember being astonished at how proficient he was and most times he’d leave the site with a handful of animals. Apparently he would skin them and sell the pelts.
i knew a lot of farmers.years ago i went for dinner with one he had a 4 year old daughter who was playing with this toy mole i said nice toy mole she said it was not a toy its real, it was a real dead mole when she passed it to me i

Yeah video spoils the opening joke. "I've got this mole y'know" as you're supposed to think it's on his body, not the animal.

Some humour makes it across the pond and other bits don't. These made me laugh - "The Two Ronnies" - "Four Candles", "Mike Harding" - "The Crumpsall Cream Cracker Corned Beef Kamikaze Cubs Go To Camp" and "Blaster Bates" - "The Shower Of Sh*t Over Cheshire"! Maybe you'll like them or maybe you won't but I'd be interested to see your reaction 🥰
I had a mole in the garden, so I flushed him out with a hose, picked him, (her?) up with the BBQ tongs, and took him at least 2 miles away in the country to leave it there. (It only took him two days to get back!)
I'm mot sure if you guys have checked out Sean Lock. He was legendary on 8 oit of 10 cats does countdown.

Simple answer to mole have a she siamiease cat natures answer they love moles. But they sound like a banshee when there in heat. Boy it's while since I saw this clip he did a few of these you just have to find them I think magic roundabout was one not shore you be able to broadcast that one though
The solution... A ferret or small dog - natural ratters.
They are not Rodents buddy. And I reckon a dog would have a bit of a problem finding them and cause a lot of damage to your lawn

You're going through my childhood. Loved Jasper, but he seemed to drift into deep unpopularity (uncoolness) after a while.
I wouldn’t mind a mole in my garden. They eat worms and slugs which I absolutely hate. And I wouldn’t care about the mole hills as long as there were no slugs and snails in my path 😊
Another great animated comic story is Eddie Izzard's Star Wars canteen bit. If you haven't seen it, it's well worth the watch.
Gotta admit, I never liked the animation for this. It's unnecessary. Much better to just watch Jasper doing the story in front of the audience.
