Nice one. Not to take anything away from this great video. I used to do this in an A300 flying into Salzburg, Austria. I have just retired, and miss doing it still. This is a great video, and it reminded me very much. Thank you so much. Keep the video's coming.
Great video guys! I'm flying a Lear 31A into EGE tomorrow for the first time! Looking forward to it. Thanks for sharing; it was good to get a preview of what I can expect.
Beautiful! Was there ever a time there was a small r/w 9/27 @ KEGE in addition to r/w 7/25? The whole place was heavily upgraded around 2008-2009, it is definitely (as seen) not there now, but was it ever?
+g10bus If you look at the EGE airport diagram it show a shorter 9/27 runway on the north side that has been turned into a taxiway for the National Guard ramp. I think only the taxiway portion of it is maintained now.
Hey guys. Just a little info since I live here... at 7:14 in the video when it says "Vail Ski Slopes," Beaver Creek (BC) is on the left, starting under the "v" in Vail, and all the way to the "e" in slopes. Then you have Bachelor's Gulch to the right of that, and Arrowhead Mountain to the right of that. It isn't Europe, but all three are connected, so we can ski from one "end" to the other in an afternoon and cover lots of ground. I trained and got my PPL at KEGE with Alpine Flight Training. I can't say enough good things about the flight school! www.alpineflighttraining.com ... Cheers, Tom W in Edwards, CO
Pretty fast landing, but very very smooth - must be nice to fly with you :) Don't you make a decision together like 'continue' from the PF on minimum altitude? :)
Hi David, thanks. This was a flight from St. Louis to Eagle Colorado. The routing we flew into Eagle was the same route the airlines use. You were viewing the same thing they would see.
Better late then never, but yes. Saw a 757 do it on left traffic quite a few years back when they were the common aircraft into this airport. Tight turn over Gypsum but doable.
It has a LDA/DME approach with a glide slope but, the lowest minimum we can use only takes us down to 1,800 ft. The airlines are able to use a SAAR (Special Aircraft Authorization Required) approach that takes them much lower.
+BossaNossa1 fortunately, I just happen to have the MAXIMUM GLIDE - EMERGENCY LANDING checklist right here. At our maximum takeoff weight it's 136 knots and at what would be our lowest weight with zero fuel, 111 knots.
Sujper Work as Usual!!!!!!! Is the I Phone doing the audio,,, next on Learning Is How to Make GOOOODDDDDD Vids. Tha nks,, Sorry for cast,,, Jack... PS Also agree with Cleve Johnson !!!!!!!!!!! Thank Him ALSO!! SO TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!
You probably get this question a lot I don't know I have flown quite a bit but not the last 10 years but I always wondered when you take off and the back wheels leave the ground why does it feel like you have slowed down but yet the engines are still winding as loud as they were during take off everything seems to be in slow motion at that point then they throttle back and you can tell you slow down cuz you kind of sink a little bit even though you're still going higher in altitude but what is that feeling from the ground to the air that makes it feel like it you've slowed down you're probably up about a hundred feet maybe little bit more or feels like you've slowed down it's weird I always wondered about that if I would have known that this job existed I might not be in the shape I'm in today and I broke my neck and tore both shoulders work-related I wished I would have gone on your route I truly do but I went to work for the phone company and fiber optics it messed me up bad body-wise cuz I had the ability to focus on staying fit and trim just one little accident on the job damn near put me in a convalescent home back in 2002 I'm suffering for it so bad today I used to do airport lights right out of high school in the late 80s early 90s when the government matched dollar-for-dollar upgrades to the airports I put in many Runway lights taxiway signs a vassy Systems happy systems sorry about if new words show up in the text I have no feeling in my hands I did page Airport and a bunch of gold mining airports in Nevada Cherry Point North Carolina military base quite a few military bases to but mostly small little unmanned airports to fly gold silver out of Nevada I used to have a big old Searchlight that I got from one of the jobs I don't know what I did with it it was just too big to keep had a lot of fun doing that oh I also did Globe Arizona has a small little airport on the reservation up in Globe Arizona I can't think of the name of it now cuz it's been so many years and a gentleman that used to run that airport used to take us up at dusk and fly us around all the mountains in planes that the airport picked up from drug runners so they didn't have very many seats in them the Pilot's seat was really the only seat in the plane saw a lot of wrecks in the mountains of globe where Plaines had crashed into the walls of the mountains but that gentleman never mentioned this could be a job to any of us and every airport I worked at somebody in a private plane would take us up flying around at the end of the night but nobody said this could be a career well kept secret I guess LOL but yes I was wondering about that stall feeling you get at take off when the tires leave the ground
Hi Joseph. Sorry to hear you were in a bad accident. I think it must be a visual perspective type of thing. the closer you are to objects on the ground the more evident the speed is. It isn't that it's a secret, I think it's moire that were kind of in the background all the time working all over the country flying out of lots of small airports.
Are you flying to Eagle during the World, Sir? We are team of G+ enthusiasts to support Eagle Co businesses get on Google map and be found by tourists, attending #Vail2015. Tha's how we searched Eagle Airport and found your great video. Would you mind if we share it through our EagleCO Vail2015 page?
Excellent approach and very nice landing!

Thanks 5BASSIP. I bet you saw some fantastic scenery on those legs. If you made any videos you should consider putting them up.
Didn't give it a thought. But yes, very beautiful sights.Keep em coming.
Cheers!!
Another great video.
thanks.
Great video gotta love it.
Thanks Mr. Easy Money

hola cap. gracias esta muy bien saludos
I'm surprised they didn't squeeze out that departure before you landed.
You should have your videos run until you taxi to the gate. It's always interesting to see the FBO.
+MerksX209A thanks for the input.
Smokin good!
nice sighseens

O.k. @5:13 are you looking for the runway...? Thanks!
+BossaNossa1 Hi Bossa. I think so. the runway should have beeen at about 45 degrees to the right at that point in time.
Pretty fast landing, but very very smooth - must be nice to fly with you :)
Don't you make a decision together like 'continue' from the PF on minimum altitude? :)
Great video! Where were you guys flying from? I'm a Denver native, and I 'd love to take a flight from DEN to EGE with United.
Hi David, thanks. This was a flight from St. Louis to Eagle Colorado. The routing we flew into Eagle was the same route the airlines use. You were viewing the same thing they would see.
That's Beaver Creek, not Vail.
It is Eagle County Airport. Beaver Creek is 30 or so miles to the east on I-70.
It's possible to land a jet aircraft in the RWY 07? I've tried in the flight simulator and it's really hard.
Better late then never, but yes. Saw a 757 do it on left traffic quite a few years back when they were the common aircraft into this airport. Tight turn over Gypsum but doable.
Well, I was wondering why you deactivate the autopilot so early, is this runway not equipped with ILS?
It has a LDA/DME approach with a glide slope but, the lowest minimum we can use only takes us down to 1,800 ft. The airlines are able to use a SAAR (Special Aircraft Authorization Required) approach that takes them much lower.
What time of year was this? What month? Planning a cross country there next week. Thanks.
+RamadiTaxiDriver60M Hey, have fun on that cross country. I'm not sure exactly but, I think it was towards the end of the ski season. Fly Safe.
+captmoonbeam Roger that! I've never flown in icing before so...lol! I'll be in a Blackhawk so if things get weird I'll just find a field!
What's minimum glide speed for this aircraft..? Thanks!
+BossaNossa1 fortunately, I just happen to have the MAXIMUM GLIDE - EMERGENCY LANDING checklist right here. At our maximum takeoff weight it's 136 knots and at what would be our lowest weight with zero fuel, 111 knots.
To me, landing in snowcapped mountains is like landing on another planet. ✈🏔

Jack Connors Thanks Jack. It's a combination of a digital recorder plugged into the intercom and the iPhone recording the background sounds.

Those who clicked dislike are afraid of flying!
pretty suprised that he didn't let that other citation go.
+Sean Dunn Eagle is pretty limited in the number of aircraft operations per hour they can handle. I think it's only 20
could've at least ended it after he left the runway instead of right after landing
Having flown into Eagle Airport three times on big jet airliners, I agree with you.

EagleCO Vail2015 Thanks, Please feel free to link to the video.
Shoot an ILS approach to mins here......... Never have liked that.
+RD S Neither have I. I much prefer Eagle to be Severe clear.
captmoonbeam Yep...stray off that localizer just a hair and problems......this approach is nasty.....especially in crosswind situation.
:)
