I really love how there's no cutscene when you get outside of the starting area in the sky, until after you jump. It gives you time to take in the scenery and how high you are

That bit at the end of the shrine is just so magical and mysterious and I thought it was really cool to hear someone call that out! I became a game programmer because of Zelda, Donkey Kong Country, and smash bros! I needed something to watch while working on a current project sop this is perfect.
This is such a great start to a playthough! All of the other people playing it for the first time have read all of the spoilers and are just like "okay, is this when X happens? when am I going to get Y? can we get Z yet?" and there's no surprise to anything for them

No wonderment, no awe, just pure mechanical interest. They didn't take in the environment at all, but you do! ❤ Which I knew you would since I first started watching your Hollow Knight play through. I have tried Breath of the Wild once (but have now bought this game) and since I'm new to it I very often stop to smell the flowers (not to mention how often I make mistakes due to not being used to the controller, haha). I’ve been playing a bit of this whenever I have time since I got it and my “unsolicited advice” like that one construct said was to follow the quest marker religiously until you get the paraglider, the game feels like it makes you so much weaker until you get it. This game is huge and I can’t wait for more, to play myself but also videos from you!

You should get into the universe, bro or sis. :) It's extremely good. I grew up on Zelda. My very first Zelda was Ocarina of Time on the N64. I got it as a Christmas present and I was hooked on the series from there. I've played almost all of them, even the super old games.
There are few things in life more joyous than seeing someone experience joy. The adoration, wonder, emotion, and genuine love of the series and its world that shines through this video really puts a smile on the face.
idk what it is about the Steward's "allow me to offer unsolicited advice" but I love it and chuckled out loud when I first read it. so up front and direct with intention, it really does sound like a robot trying to offer advice regardless of your input because it doesn't see your input as necessary but is also respectful enough to ask for some level of permission and also calls it's advice unsolicited. Very cool I love these little dudes and the cute noises they make. I hope they all individually live happy lives :)

There aren't many playthroughs of this yet from the perspective of a newcomer to the series. I figured I'd check this one out since you seem fresh off experiencing some of the classics but I'm probably going to stay for the others because your commentary and investment in the setting is just right. Takes me back to the earlier days of lets plays where people actually enjoyed the games they played instead of just rushing for engagement.

It's always the best when people really enjoy the game they are playing; this nice start of the series was not an exception. Don't worry too much about cutting or skipping things for pleasing the public, you have a knack to balance things in the edits anyway. Just take your time, explore, enjoy, and most of all - be yourself and play for yourself. Fan-service never did anything good in the long-term (neither for movies and books nor game play-throughs). It's impossible to satisfy everyone, so the best way is to stay true to yourself, and we'll be happy to see you happy.
the Zonai were referenced frequently in Breath of the Wild btw, and they were the main point of theorycrafting for the past several years, but yeah, this is this first time we've actually seen them. and if you don't remember, Rauru was the first sage in Ocarina of Time. it's obviously not him in this game, it's a new character with the same name, and the sky island lore is all different from Skyward Sword, so they're establishing this as separate from older titles, but incorporating similar themes and ideas in a new way. i like their approach here, referencing old lore, but still keeping this game distinct and separate
Excited for this play through. I played for 5 hours last night, so the game is already causing lack of sleep. The last time game honestly made me lose sleep like that was on N64

Just in case anyone was wondering about realism at the beginning of the game let’s not forget that in breath of the wild the Shiekah slate was Zelda’s Shiekah slate, that she left to Link so that he could use it on his journey to defeat Ganon, but since Zelda’s now safe, or was safe, she got her Shiekah slate back and Purah “upgraded it”. Hence, why link has no Shiekah slate abilities.
What a fun video! The game looks fantastic! Loved the new abilities, and that intro was really dark! Kinda hoping the game keeps that vibe in its big dramatic bits!
Breath of the wild has been out since 2017 and I'm still shocked and amazed no words on how incredible the game is and tears of the kingdom adding back everything that made me a fan of Zelda is great to see. 14:30 This moment endeared me to Zelda so, so much! You hit it spot on, she has this really adorable "Nancy Drew" energy that feels like it fits so well with her character. It made me that much angrier when she got IMMEDIATELY shelved for what is likely the entire rest of the game 😥 (I haven't gotten too far in the game myself so I could be wrong, but I'm doubtful.)
Well to be fair, Zelda doesn’t really have a lot of screen time in most of the games. And yes, I don’t miss the irony in that considering her name is in the title of the series.

14:30 This moment endeared me to Zelda so, so much! You hit it spot on, she has this really adorable "Nancy Drew" energy that feels like it fits so well with her character.
It made me that much angrier when she got IMMEDIATELY shelved for what is likely the entire rest of the game 😥 (I haven't gotten too far in the game myself so I could be wrong, but I'm doubtful.)
Well to be fair, Zelda doesn’t really have a lot of screen time in most of the games. And yes, I don’t miss the irony in that considering her name is in the title of the series.
@@darkstorm2579 Believe me, I know, I've been playing these games for 30 years lol. And that's what bothers me, because every time you DO get to see Zelda in the games she's wonderful! She's literally my favorite Nintendo character and the only thing they ever do with her is lock her up 😢
