Actually what made me think that zelink is cannon. Is when you go into Paya's room in botw and read her diary. A few pages in and the diary will say "I think Link is in love with princess Zelda". It also made Paya sad to think of it.
@fisherray1419 Nothing actually happens in that quest. None of paya’s or Impa’s dialogue remotely points to anything happening and the village was under attack. Paya also says she’d give Link and Zelda her full support. She’s also frankly such an irrelevant character that she doesn’t even show up in the totk post credits.

Yep! And Link canonically likes to and is good at cooking. I swear he started making spicy stuff for her to eat just before going into the waters and as she's getting out. Edit: it's not hard to see him also noticing that she's not sleeping on the road during these pilgrimages to the springs or just in general so he just let's her sleep in once she finally does fall asleep. And we all know that Link can take out a band of monsters quickly so he's watching her while thinking "You know we just heard about a infestations *insert kilometers here* from here. Link ALSO had his own weight on his shoulders when it came to defeating Ganon, but instead of staying, he ran with Zelda to safety! He made the RIGHT decision! But whether he was given direct orders from the king to run (like in AOC) or not, HE was in the lead here of keeping Zelda safe. But in the process of doing that, he ALSO left behind the kingdom HE had been preparing to defend and protect! Link is in just as much despair as Zelda in this moment. Looking up at the opened sky It has begun to rain. And as I was thinking about this, then the next meme played and I couldn’t help but laugh at how close it is to this thought 😹
I hate that the writing didn't include more about Link's life or what he'd lost in that moment as you so wonderfully put it. Because yes he lost everything too. But whenever I get too frustrated with it I have to remind myself that although we are seeing Link's memories we are seeing them in the third person. Yes so the player can see these gorgeous movie cutscenes but also if we take into consideration the fact that these are Link's originally first person memories that were left and framed by Zelda's first person memories who then had to choose what to leave on the slate for him from what they already had with the hope that these images would trigger something and then Link as an amnesiac has to find them all and have basically what seems to be an outer body experience in remembering... There really is something to be said for how he still chose her. No one would have really blamed him if he had left her at that point because she didn't have her powers. (Because look at how those outside of the Sheikah and the champions treated her.) But no. He still chose to stay with her. He still chose to give his life for hers despite her still not having her powers until the last second. It shows how much he's truly prioritized her beyond his duty.
Personally, probably because I was a romance-is-evil child, I've always seen them as just friends. I like the way the developers have left it openended for each player. That being said, this is a mighty fine video, and the visceral disgust in Zelda's face for the first five minutes is killing me.
The end?! No! Not if the third game is years out from totk. I want a wedding at that point. I want them being lovey dovey to an extreme. PDA from her that makes him flustered. I think it's funny that zelda has to activate her powers, and rarely can. Ganon is born with his strength, and i think the knowledge of his past, and link is born with the skill of every link before him, and an undying body that can never get tired, or waver from its duty Meanwhile, zelda failing to activate her powers of being a walking tower of babbel in most of the games until the end
The interpretation that Zelda's soul also reincarnated makes it even funnier. In Skyward Sword Zelda had to unlock memories and powers and Ocarina of Time Zelda had prophetic dreams but then send Link back in time so she didn't have the memories of that other life and it's like all Zeldas or Hylia herself wants so badly to "forget" that she constantly locks more and more of knowledge of herself away. Like she really just wants the human/hylian experience and can't catch a break. And it's painful. I mean this Zelda got the closest to what Hylia used to be twice. She was basically immortal in botw and totk for extremely long periods of time. Nothing but pure power and beyond human comprehension. And yet when she came out of her battle with Ganon in botw she still doesn't have all of the answers. At the end of totk she still doesn't have all of the answers. The girl/woman who is the embodiment of "wisdom" in this franchise has to accept that she doesn’t have it all figured out while consistently being fed just enough information about herself and her lineage to try something that ultimately goes wrong. For someone who is supposed to represent wisdom each Zelda has to learn basically the same lesson over and over to the point that it's the definition of insanity.

In Skyward Sword Zelda had to unlock memories and powers and Ocarina of Time Zelda had prophetic dreams but then send Link back in time so she didn't have the memories of that other life and it's like all Zeldas or Hylia herself wants so badly to "forget" that she constantly locks more and more of knowledge of herself away. Like she really just wants the human/hylian experience and can't catch a break. And it's painful. I mean this Zelda got the closest to what Hylia used to be twice. She was basically immortal in botw and totk for extremely long periods of time. Nothing but pure power and beyond human comprehension. And yet when she came out of her battle with Ganon in botw she still doesn't have all of the answers. At the end of totk she still doesn't have all of the answers. The girl/woman who is the embodiment of "wisdom" in this franchise has to accept that she doesn’t have it all figured out while consistently being fed just enough information about herself and her lineage to try something that ultimately goes wrong. For someone who is supposed to represent wisdom each Zelda has to learn basically the same lesson over and over to the point that it's the definition of insanity.

he was actually planning on finally going easy on zelda if she didn't succeed in awakening her powers that last time, he knew he was putting a lot of pressure on her and wanted to stop and let her relax
This hits weird after reading Rhoam's journal entries and realizing he's just as much at his wit's end as Zelda and was planning on apologizing and allowing her to pursue her desired methods of managing the calamity
A lot of people would disagree with this, I gotta say that him realizing his mistakes after 17 years does not make it ok, he caused her so much pain, he never once decided to check up on her and actually witnessed what she was doing, just assumed she wasn’t doing her job, that is low down.

in the midst of all that chaos he knew the stress was crushing zelda and finally decided to let her relax but like.... yeah.
