Love this! Sigrid is like a spring creek from the icy Norwegian mountains. She doesn’t have the insane vocal qualities of Angelina Jordan or the enchanting quirkiness of Aurora - fellow Norwegians - but is a lovely artist in her own right. Very capable, and very much doing her own thing , the industry be damned. Commercially, Sigrid might be Norway’s number one artist in the years to come.
[what took so long comment here] :) I think the only thing “missing” in this beautiful performance is her trademark “hey!” (left out for obvious reasons, and I’m kidding about missing of course). “ _Her vocals had a distinctive natural rasp, but a voice coach encouraged her to embrace it rather than soften it._ ” Now that’s a good coach, the Sigrid rasp is fantastic. “ _During Sigrid’s childhood, she was inspired by Adele, Joni Mitchell, and Neil Young._ ” I can only say, enjoy another journey with a new artist. And I strongly recommend doing both studio and live/acoustic (double) reactions to her songs. The Burning Bridges music video, for instance, and afterwards the Up Close, Acoustic one. Agree sooo much concerning doble reactions from "dancing vibe" to acoustic. Sigrid says she makes music to the stage in front of the crowds. But at the same time they have to be done just with the piano! Listeners can be fooled about her as an artist if just listening to her powerful dancing vibe.

Those are some of the most interesting reactions, too. I believe Sigrid has said that a song _has_ to work acoustically before even bothering to go any further or add production to it. Which seems like an obvious observation/mission statement, but well, not sure if everyone follows it. I think we’re referring to the same Sigrid quote. This is i.m.h.o. the best version of my favourite song by her. I like the purity of the performance with the power of her voice and the emotions she is showing so clearly.

I KNEW you would love this, so no surprise there :-) I was one of those pushing for you to react to this like 7-8 months back. But now you're in. And that's what counts. This is a bit outside of the stuff that she is most famous for, but she gets to show us her voice for real. It's absolutely beautiful, and one that you will instantly recognize, much like Eivör, Aurora and Angelina. Sigrid's live performances is something to behold, because her stage presence is second only to Aurora :-) but still very different in nature. I think I reccomended it a couple of month ago, too, so nice to hear it now. this is a sad song, but generally her music is more positive, more pop and not much of nordic noir. it's a song of getting back on tracks after a toxic relation, of strength and stubbornness. don't underestimate the force of women, treat them wrong and you create something explosive

This is a very insightful review of the lyrics unlike most reviews / reactions where the reactor says , "oh , i really like her " because the lyrics probably went over their head .
My take on the mountain vs dynamite picture, is that her lover is steady as a mountain, which she loves. But she has some dark sides or can have a temper that can rock their fundation. But it can also shape them into something she wants them to be, like many women want to do with their lovers. So she wants to make them aware of that posibility, and to make them prepared to stand even stronger against the dynamite.
Altough this is a beautiful performance and a perfect demonstration of her vocals it does not reflect her musical style. So be sure to listen to more of her. Most is much more up beat I love Sigrid because she is so down to earth. You could see her living next door BTW SLAP SLAP Next Marketa Irglova For old times sake
Hi Adam, yes very interesting, you have a habit of finding these great female singers. Sigrid, like Aurora and Morissette are all 25 years old and now seasoned in their craft and at the top of their game. We should not forget the age difference between these and the likes of Angelina Jordan and Daneliya Tuleshova who are both still 15 years old and wonder how good these two will become in 10 years time.

Great reaction Adam! Love this performence. Before going into her more recent stuff, I suggest her song Don't Kill My Wibe. It was her debut single for her record company (Island). The MV + the Vevo dscvr (live) version, would be a good choice:)
RIGHT TO THE CORE. The connection from me to her was immediate and deep. I guess I prefer deeper voices, or at least voices that are comfortable singing the lower notes. I am not a big fan of Aurora's singing. I think she is a first rate songwriter. But her friend has more shit to her voice, I mean Sigrid's voice is full of grit and determination. It's her saying, 'I'm not going to let this break me'. Again Adam you have brought me someone worth the following. That huskiness absolutely grabs me. I have only heard 4-5 of her songs, but I like them. I have been listening a lot to Burning Bridges. I wouldn't put her in the Aurora or Eivor category, their musical range are much broader with Sigrid being more focused on a specific style. If anything I would put her in the Adele category, for the acoustic versions at least. She just did some live performances on a rooftop (Mirror, Burning Bridges and Dynamite). And since it was filmed by NRK you know the quality is good and great for reactions, if you want some more.

My take on the mountain vs dynamite picture, is that her lover is steady as a mountain, which she loves. But she has some dark sides or can have a temper that can rock their fundation. But it can also shape them into something she wants them to be, like many women want to do with their lovers.
So she wants to make them aware of that posibility, and to make them prepared to stand even stronger against the dynamite.
Altough this is a beautiful performance and a perfect demonstration of her vocals it does not reflect her musical style. So be sure to listen to more of her. Most is much more up beat
I love Sigrid because she is so down to earth. You could see her living next door

Hi Adam, yes very interesting, you have a habit of finding these great female singers. Sigrid, like Aurora and Morissette are all 25 years old and now seasoned in their craft and at the top of their game. We should not forget the age difference between these and the likes of Angelina Jordan and Daneliya Tuleshova who are both still 15 years old and wonder how good these two will become in 10 years time.

Gotta say, I absolutely love Sigrid's voice, but you gotta wonder what it is that they're putting in the water up there in Norway. Such a rich crop of talent coming out of the country, especially from around Bergen.
I love that there's this little group of musical friends from Bergen that all support each other. Aurora, Sigrid, Askjell, etc.

Great reaction Adam! Love this performence. Before going into her more recent stuff, I suggest her song Don't Kill My Wibe. It was her debut single for her record company (Island). The MV + the Vevo dscvr (live) version, would be a good choice:)

RIGHT TO THE CORE. The connection from me to her was immediate and deep. I guess I prefer deeper voices, or at least voices that are comfortable singing the lower notes. I am not a big fan of Aurora's singing. I think she is a first rate songwriter. But her friend has more shit to her voice, I mean Sigrid's voice is full of grit and determination. It's her saying, 'I'm not going to let this break me'.
Again Adam you have brought me someone worth the following. That huskiness absolutely grabs me. Thank you Adam for the work you put into bringing these videos to us.

New to me too, thanks. She has the type of voice that needs a minimal backing or it will be drowned. Delicate is the word and it is best appreciated when handled with delicate care.
check out some of Sigrid’s live performances, her voice more than holds its own. even with a band and the usual (loud) backing tracks behind it.

I have only heard 4-5 of her songs, but I like them. I have been listening a lot to Burning Bridges. I wouldn't put her in the Aurora or Eivor category, their musical range are much broader with Sigrid being more focused on a specific style. If anything I would put her in the Adele category, for the acoustic versions at least. She just did some live performances on a rooftop (Mirror, Burning Bridges and Dynamite). And since it was filmed by NRK you know the quality is good and great for reactions, if you want some more.
In this performance, she didn’t hit me the way Angelina or Aurora can. An excellent interpretation of the lyrics by you.
