Video cameras do not film. That would be Moviemaking. If you want to educate at least know the difference between film and video. Digital Video and film require different skill sets. Having DIFFERENT historical and TECHNOLOGICAL timelines spanning 150 years. :-) Educate by having pride in the gear we use including the words that describe what we do. Our tools are Digital Video, Non-linear, and CGI. We are moviemakers, not filmmakers. Videographers and/or cinematographers. We video, we do not film. :-) That's the other professionals who know how to use film and film cameras, like an ARRIFLEX 435 Panavision R-200 and Steenbeck flatbed film editors. Know the difference and be better at your craft. You will also stand out in an industry polluted with point-and-shoot "pros". Respect to you.
Use a counter balance weight for the filters it works fine.

You can place small counterweights on the gimbal so it can be balanced with the filter.

With the Mimo app, you can't shoot Raw/ProRes? (on iPhone 14 Pro)
what do you think of insta360 flow?
Get a Universal Clip-on that is of smaller thread of 37mm. Brands like K&F, you can easily get 37mm CPL, ND, VND, Black Mist and etc. Lighter than using step-up ring and bigger heavier filters plus if you use too many step up, more likely to get lens flare due to the glass on the filter being too far away from the outer glass of your phone camera. There is a reason why many will prefer to get specialized but more expensive clip-on for phones like iPhones or Galaxy has because the filters are essentially millimeters away the outer glass of the phone camera.
How does Osmo gimble compare to Hohem range?

Great video I’m looking for a gimbal and that’s gonna allow me to zoom in and out while filming with either the native iPhone app or a live streaming app called GameChanger. I am trying to film baseball games and be able to get into the action by zooming in and out.
I have it for a few months, use it on a iPhone 14 pro with quite a heavy case. Even with a mic transmitter connected to it, still not too heavy so pretty happy with it

They're two different tools in my eyes. I'd prefer a better phone than a bad phone + a gopro in most situations since the phone is always in your pocket.

Did you test how far away the tracker works. Also I do speeches and I'm far away can I zoom it in and it stays?
I haven't done a test myself but I've seen people use this to track birds flying in the sky from super far away so I bet it would work for speeches
Hey Anthony! I bought this gimbal recently myself and am glad to see your review of it here! I had recently watched your tutorial for DJI OM5 in the 14 Day Smartphone Filmmaker edition. You said here that there is a brand new training on the DJI OM6 in the course, but I don't see it. Can you provide info on where to look for it? Also, this may be a dumb question, but I just want to clarify... when using a DJI gimbal, you are using the DJI Mimo app instead of Beast Cam.
It looks like the upload in the course failed so I'm re-uploading it now! Most of the time I'm actually just using the native app on my iphone, but if I want to use one of the built in smart features of the gimbal then I'll use the app. If I'm shooting a controlled scene where I really want to control the settings even more than I'll use beastcam.
@@MrPaulXavier Thanks! So, can you use the gimball with Beastcam? What controls are available in Beastcam that aren't available in the DJI Mimo app?
Yup the gimbal will work no matter what app you're using. The mimo apps just connects to it via bluetooth and then allows you to use some of the smart features like the motion lapse. But you could literally have your phone turned off attached to the gimbal and it will still keep the phone stable. That is the primary purpose of the tool. The app is just extra add ons. Overall when it comes to controlling the exposure settings I just prefer the beastcam layout. Nothing other than that.
Cool one, my DJI OSMO 2 is missing, this one will be good choice to buy a new one.

It seems there are a LOT of quality issues / failures with the M6 online.
The m6 is my favorite pro gimbal and DJI is my favorite for travel

This might be a little stupid of me, but I’ve had this gimbal for months and could never get the hang of it. The head where my phone is attached to is constantly moving and the camera gets upside down or moves too much. I have the iPhone 14max and use it without a case. I have your course and have watched the previous osmo video you have there. But again, couldn’t get it to be stable. I know it’s a little vague, but any idea what I could be doing wrong?
Hmmm... not sure exactly what you mean. Could you post a video of it in the student facebook group? Then I can look at it and diagnose what's happening
mine is the exact same. the app also will not connect period. Ive been so frustrated with it all, I havent seen if it works on my iphone 15
I have an iphone 15 pro max, should i disable the enhanced stabilization? And also what about the action mode low light? Should it be off or on?

I just use my Osmo for 10 days straight with the brand new 15 pro max and absolutely loved it! I found myself using very little of the app and used it with the built-in camera plus another camera application.

I love ProMovie+ for just my phone around home with my very athletic dog or our football games on the sidelines. It’s an amazing app for that. I’m NOT a photographer, so please don’t shoot technical jargon at me & tell why it sucks! Haha it is a gorgeous result for 3-5 min shots

Hard to quantify but it’s definitely an upgrade. Yours still works great for smooth shots though
@@MrPaulXavier hi there...I tried my OM3 and it works but the weigh capacity is lower than the OM6...OM3 is 230grms and the OM6 is 290grms...My 15 promax with case is probably a bit over 230grms.I prefer to use a case with my phones...I confess I'm also deciding whether a Insta 360 Flow would be better...about the same I think..I may just try the phone with a mini tripod/handle and use the maximum stabilization it's capable of...I don't want a complicated gimbal for this C camera. For my main cameras-Sony FX30s-I use Ronin S and that is great. a bit heavy but strong
2:10 into the video - I don`t find the resolution option 4K on mine, max is 1080p. Is my phone the problem?
Yes it’s likely the phone you’re using. What model is it?
If you delete a bunch of old videos and pictures in your phone, will that help lighten the payload for the gimbal

the Hohem M6 is more expensive but has more features than this Osmo 6. I have Osmo 3 right now and planning to upgrade because I can't film very low close to the ground with Osmo 3 just like you showed in this video, I can't put additional lenses due to exceeded payload which I wanted to do. So I think the Hohem M6 is my best choice for now because it can hold up to 400 grams. Meaning I can throw in some lenses and it will still work just fine.

Yes all of the settings that the MIMO app controls you can usually control within the built in android camera app or download another 3rd party. It varies phone to phone so I can't give an exact answer

Yes I would. They're both very similar though.
Hi you can cure the unbalance if you add the counterbalance you can add to the threaded hole in the head at the back.

that gimbal is made for steady shot while walk and hand shot..but I cant find a test for this . nobody dont making this test in their previews about gimbals. why ?..weird..

The phone does yes! Depending on the mic you might have an issue with the gimbals weight capacity though

I would Velcro the SSD to the handle of the gimbal and just connect it to the camera via usb C

Nope, my phone can't use this gimbal because the on/of button will get in the way of the phone clamp. DJI should have thought of this because Huawei / Vivo and Oppo which is another huge brands have the on off button right underneath the clamp position.

I have a DJI gimbal and it's great for smooth footage but I do find the app, especially when working outdoors, very difficult to follow and see. I feel they could make the text bigger and have less sub menus. It does have great functions though.
That's solid feedback! Hopefully as phone screens continue to get bigger and brighter that will help as well.

I have one and hate it
You left out the biggest drawback of this gimbal - the small tilt range of -25 to +40 degrees. If you want to do a shot where you raise the gimbal from the ground, you have to do it laterally because it can roll 90 degrees easily, but not tilt. Also I've had mine for about a year, and it needs to be recalibrated almost every time I power it up.
and after the last update I have to turn on the grid every restart in the DJI app

Shooting vertically should not be an option. It's amateurish.
If you're a purist sure that's one way to look at it, but if you're trying to create content that gets views and accomplishes goals in 2024, vertical is a great strategy.

What makes you say that?
DJI has limited payload compared to Hohem;
Smoothness and stability they are similar;
Tracking features, Hohem is winner with its AI technology;
About modes, both have pretty much the same features but DJI is limited to use their own app, on Hohem you can use any app.
DJI is more compact and can be better for travelers, but overall Hohem has more capabilities.
Don’t take it personal, it’s just my opinion, I have both.

DJI Osmo Mobile 7 comes out this year. so for me this review is obsolete.

Yeah the payload issue is a bummer. I have a regular gimbal for my mirrorless but was wanting a smaller one just for my phone but I have a case and probably will have some attachments to it.

Not being able to use filters with this is an absolute deal breaker. How are you going to shoot at the correct settings on a sunny day with no ND filter on your phone? Worthless gimbal.
