Do you have a recommendation for a separate wired lav mic to go with the DJI2 if I want to use one so the transmitter isn’t so visible when recording? a few questions. 1. Can 32-bit sound be recorded into the camera? via a transmitter. when using Rode? When using DJi mic v2? 2. If I use the same lavalier microphone, will the Rode have an audio advantage? 3. Does noise canceling work with the lavalier microphone? ps. Don't forget that the Rode comes with two lavalier microphones and that's cool. Thanks for answers!

    • @MrPaulXavier
      @MrPaulXavier  4 місяці тому

      Both record 32 bit ONLY to the transmitter. It’s impossible to transmit the signal over Bluetooth at the current time.

    Did I miss it didn't you do any range test? Pretty important if you ask me

    • @MrPaulXavier
      @MrPaulXavier  4 місяці тому +1

      Yeah I feel like the range is important but realistically will you be recording 800+ feet from your camera? All of these are rock solid from standard range. The different in range between the two is negligible and to accurately test it you need to do it like 100 times. The basic “let me walk as far away as I can from the mic” test is completely useless if you only do it once in one certain environment.

    For my old ears, #3 Mic was the best sounding, with a far deeper bass response, for a warmer sound in your voice. But all of my audio goes into Audition to get tweaked, so in the long run, it does not matter. The Rode mics do fit into a really nice handheld contraption with a big ass windscreen.

    Just subbed.
    I’m using a single DJI Mic2 transmitter with a receiver connected to my Sony ZV-1.
    I have the transmitter with gain set to 0, it’s +9 on the receiver and +1 on the Sony ZV-1. Is that right?
    I did a test using my Audio-technica AT875R shotgun mic going through a GoXLR to Slobs and also on the DJI Mic2 at the same time.
    I recorded on the DJI Mic2 with the Lav mic and without it and also both again with noise cancelation and without it.
    My room is slightly reverb but when I listen to the comparisons, the audio from the DJI Mic2 sounds weak and like I’m speaking to someone through a window and the shotgun mic audio sounds full and powerful.
    Could you point me to some tutorials for how you adjust the wireless audio in post please?

      @@MrPaulXavier In other comparison videos the Rode does sound just... much much better, at least to my ears (and a lot of the commenters as well) but the creators seem not to acknowledge the sound quality for some reason sometimes :/ Feels a bit weird, like we're being gaslit by some creators since the quality difference is kind of significant.

      I agree I think the Rode sounds better using the built in mic. It's interesting with a lav mic attached to both I find them to be perfectly identical, unfortunately I didn't extensively test that in the video which is a mistake on my part.

    9:11 thank you for the comparison. One thing that was left out was how you were syncing the internal 32-bit on the DJI mic to your video track. On the Rode Wireless Pro, they have timecode which allows you to sync all the separate clips with the internally recorded 32-bit float. Does the DJI mic 2 have something similar, or are you having to manually sync or use waveforms? Thanks!

    • @MrPaulXavier
      @MrPaulXavier  4 місяці тому

      It doesn’t have time code - I usually sync using premiere pros built in sync feature

    Great video! The NTG 3 sonds the best! I wish I could get that sound quality out of the DJI. I'm sticking with my DJI Mic 1. I'm just not hearing the improvement in sound quality I was hoping for -- AND Mic 1 is more portable because it's smaller. The bluetooth feature is compelling because i hike a lot and shoot videos. But I also use my earbuds to listen to music and podcasts and audiobooks etc. -- so how would that wokr? Would I have to keep going back and forth into my bluetooth settings on my phone to change devices?

      Thats kind of a weird comment, features do matter most of us own multiple mics for different uses. I for example am adding the DJI MIC2 simply because it can hook up to things like the action cam 4 by in a wireless way. For others some of the other features or the rode and/or dji might be more important than sound differences that are personal and can be eq'ed in most cases.

    • @MrPaulXavier
      @MrPaulXavier  4 місяці тому

      @@scb2scb2 - they way I read the comment, it didn't sound like @techinhonest is saying features don't matter. It just seemed like he was saying the first and more relevant question is whether or not the sound quality is better than other wirless mics and he appreciated us tackling that first, then the other features based on what likely matters to most content creators.
      So it felt more like he was saying how he appreciated we covered the features in an understandable sequence.

    • @scb2scb2
      @scb2scb2 4 місяці тому

      @@MrPaulXavier i guess thats how you can read it but i would argue you pick mics for different use cases and then test if you can make the sound work. Also from known brands and within its price range the differences are not that huge these days and depend on personal taste and can be adjusted. Personally (not that i mind the order of review) i think people should? mostly point out what sets them apart from other options in this case it seems to be the direct bt linking to several devices esp. from their own brand. If you only get one mic at $99 to attach to your action cam 4 for example its a great option and probably only option that doesn't kill weather sealing as far as i know.

    Great video, thank you so much for that blind test. I want the feature set of the DJI 2, but the most important quality to me is quality of sound, and from what i can tell Rode Pro is the best to me. I am kind of surprised you picked the DJI mic 2 over the Rode Pro to carry. Do you think the Rode Pro, or any of these mics, would be suitable to record music? On my travel videos i bring a travel guitar with me and like to play/(attempt to) sing, do you think that could work? Really appreciate the video and any response!

    Fantastic comparison. Since upgrading from the Rode Wireless Go 2 to the Pro, i've noticed the Pro is significantly richer and deeper. That was obvious in this video also.
