      I walked into my local Subaru to get a new fuel cap, stepping into the show room. I was surprised with a gorgeous blue S209 sitting in front of me.
      This car is beautiful. And sooooooooo out of my price range. I stood there for an hour combing over this car. Wishing I could buy it.

      Actually, you should be proud of your Type R. As an STI (regular) and Type R owner, I say the Type R is the much better car on dry road at least. It was actually cheaper for me to get a Type R as a second car rather than try to trade my STI in for an S209, the S209 was just WAY to expensive with the markups. One dealer wanted 85K and it just wasn't gonna happen.
      I would even say that on a dry track with equal drivers the Type R will beat or at least give an S209 a really hard time, Motortrend had better numbers from the Type R. In redline reviews a Type R (may have been tuned) put bus lengths on an S209 on the highway. Stock for stock the Type R should actually pull away, it is around 400 pounds less than the S209 and with fwd will have less drive train loss. I have been driving my STI and Type R back to back and the Type R is just a lighter better balanced car, I experience less understeer than I do in the STI. Seats are better in the Type R and I can corner harder becuase i'm not sliding into the door (like I do on my STI). The ride is also less bumpy in the Type R yet it still corners flat. The CTR also is an absolute rocket on the highway.
      Not taking anything away from the S209, I really really wanted one, but the CTR is something I wanted as well. With some minor modifications my STI can be just as potent as an S209.

    I spun out on black ice conditions, and hit a metal light pole, in front of left front wheel spun off the pole and ended back up in the middle of the road, in my old '02 SF5 Forester and walked away unharmed with no broken glass making it's way into the inside of my Forester, if this would have been a Ford or a Chevy who knows where I would be at right now, I looked far and wide to find another nice low km one owner Forester, and found one after driving 1200km, then taking a train on the same day I bought my car, then took the 14 hour back into the mountains to pick up my Forester then drive it 600 kms to it's new home. Out of The Woods now lives in the city.

    This car was very good and can only remain as a legend in history. Nowadays, even S209's performance is so inadequate comparing to all of its competitors. It gets so out-performed. The last things we need are new stickers, new wing and new vents. We need a STi to combat these latest cars: TTRS, RS3, and A-45.

      khvidtube1617 the S209 is not about straight line performance speed, they understand that it can’t keep up in the straight line, it’s a cornering car. The S209 is faster than the RS3 and TTRS at VIR so I would say it’s doing just fine at competing with them.

      Really? The GT-R increased about 25-ish HP each upgrade and has now reached nearly 600 HP. The STi has remained 305 HP for about 15 years.

      I agree about STi has better cornering. I have owned and modified a 2016 STi. It was very flat and stable around corners because of its low center of gravity. However, that is not good enough given the price of the car and number of years it has been "sitting" on the same platform. Even if excuses are allowed, they would have been long exhausted.

    Reliable performance.... not hating on the STI or their motors, but I'm currently on my 3rd motor.....
    1st one went due to the last owner being a dumbass
    Shit tons of upgrades( including a garret turbo)
    He thought the pistons on the sti were forged......
    But no tune..... yes, yes no tune and the motor only lasted 600 miles after that....
    2nd motor( I took off all the bs mods he had on it, so it was stock) went due oil pump failing and my oil pressure sensor was corroded and didnt work so I never knew, one moment I'm doing 130mph chasing a c6 z06 and a m4, next the turbo blows, then the motor blows.....
    3rd motor - I've put in a stage 2 iag block with forged pistons and am planning to push 450whp no problem. Except this time I'll be building it right.
    for my 04 sti and this time I decided to go with iag stage 2 block instead, for its forged pistons etc better power tolerance.
    All in all I'm in love with the car and always have been since I was 6 years old hearing this thing start up every morning in my neighbors driveway before I went to school. Im 21 now and When i bought it 1.6 years ago i damn near cried while sitting in it.
    1. Because I didnt even know how to drive stick so my mom had to do the test drive.
    2. Because after all these years I had finally been able to actually have one.
    3. Because my insurance was alot cheaper then I expected.....some tears of joy too.

    • @Mikey6048
      @Mikey6048 5 років тому +1

      To a degree yes. The S209 has forged internals, which isn't advertised for some reason. The reason these motors aren't as great as they used to is because of all the rediculous emissions policies, forcing Subarus to use certain internal components to make the EJ (Old Tech) EPA compliant. Which unfortunately means very high tolerances internally and poorer components to try and keep emissions down.
      I own a STI, so I understand what you mean regarding the EJ volatility.

      I do believe subies can be somewhat reliable when they r kept completely stock. However, that is rare in North America.

    • @EricdRealtor
      @EricdRealtor 5 років тому +1

      They are super reliable just most owners are 25 and do mods without doing the proper maintenance. I had a fully modded and tuned STI with 100k km on it and never had a problem

    • @caipaul4118
      @caipaul4118 5 років тому

      Eric Dietterle I 100%agree with you, ppl go full catless and run blow off valves instead of by pass valves and they wonder why their subies r getting knock.

    • @KyleDisney
      @KyleDisney 5 років тому +1

      Eric Dietterle I have a 2010, I am 18.
      No, my parents did not buy me it. I bought it myself. Thing was beat to hell by previous owner because months after I got it, Turbo blew, and Motor Spun bearing. and oil leaks everywhere. I fully rebuilt the motor myself and now it’s good as new, if not even better.

    • @EricdRealtor
      @EricdRealtor 5 років тому

      Cai Paul i actually ran both of those, knock just comes down to keeping the old ass engines topped with oil, and if you’re overboosting the stock turbo get a bigger one

    65 k is a lots of money for a Subaru, local dealer has one they have been sitting on for months. When they take it below 60, I’ll get it.

    • @KrisBecker-v6k
      @KrisBecker-v6k 5 років тому +1

      It wont go below 60. Im guessing the reason it hasnt already sold is that they are asking for an additional markup.

      M K, for that amount of cash...you can get a nice 997.2 911...which I’ve had two of. When it gets to 55k then it’s a good buy, but at 65 or 70....nope. In the end it’s a tarted up econobox. It’s value will drop as well just like the RA did.

    • @MK-df6li
      @MK-df6li 5 років тому +7

      @@robertsole9970 your right, the value will drop. Just like the 996 and 997 gt3 did. But theres only 209 of these examples. I own a s203 and am s204 here in Japan and they built over 500 of them each, still u can only find 6 or 7 examples on sale at any given time and they are priced over 35k for a goodie eventhough they were 40k new.
      RA models dont hold their values like the S series and RAR series. Unless theres a financial meltdown, you wont find one for 55k in the next 2 or 3 years.
      You might say its an econobox but try find anyother sedan based symmetrical 4wd that drives like these.

      Strange business model, people are graving for theses special editions in HK and Australia yet they only release the most basic version. Also if they really want to bump up the sales before the next gen comes out they need to reissue a 22b with modernisation - not just random black decal and small body kit upgrade appeared in the so called Kubo edition or some shit . No idea what the company wants to achieve. Is not rocket science but they just get it wrong so badly

    They are having a problem how to squeeze more power from the engine lol. Uh what about down sizing the car ? Less weight = faster .. Do subaru they realize that the new sti car itself is HUGE... the car is bigger than a toyota camry ,for god sake. Car is just getting bigger and bigger every year. Just bring back the 2004s design and add power. I think it will attract more sales tbh.
