    I use mine on a daily basis for everything (food prep, opening packages, cutting boxes, zip ties) except for tactical purposes. (No need for me).
    Its a well built knife, very utilitarian and very versatile. Perfect EDC for me, along with my buck 112. Both in my EDC rotation.

    Thanks for a unique perspective, as well as a great example of what growing up looks like. 👍🏻 I had to get one after watching a lot of vids on what makes a wharncliffe good for self-defense. I snagged a Cruwear Yojimbo 2 and immediately swapped the scales for Raindrop CF. I intend to learn how to use it properly for that purpose, but it’s great to know it works so well as an edc, too. :)

    Great review, Lost my beloved yojimbo a few years back, and been hoping it find me would turn up again. Hated the way the pocket clip would grab on my seat belt and strip it out of my left front pocket (I'm left handed). I need to just suck it up and get the yojimbo 2

    For a SD knife, I wish they kind of added a wave or something similar. I know there are plenty that use a "ghetto" wave on it when used as a SD knife/backup. The nice thing is, its a pretty great edc even if its not used for SD use.

      There are some cool ones out there. 5x5 combat makes a metal one. Plenty of chinese rip offs on ebay for like 8$
      I have the the kydex ripple off ebay on mine. That guy seems to have dropped off the map n im buying my 5th yo2 this week so im prob going to start making them myself. Plus colors were so limited. N 20$ is a lot for something you can make for 25cents.

    I have the s30v version in g 10. It's one of two knives that will clip a hair with the factory edge. It fits my hand well is ergonomic for me. What I especially like is the thick blade that is deeply hollow ground. The distal taper is what I expect from this self defense tool. Enjoyed hearing about your growth.

    Your Yojimbo 2 review was pretty darn good. I've been in the hobby for less than a year so I wasn't familiar with it. What I don't understand is why it's good for tactical. Perhaps you can to review for that particular purpose. I'll look into it for EDC use.

    • @RedwolfEDC
      @RedwolfEDC  2 роки тому +1

      It's because of the lines and edge geometry of the knife, you can achieve a great deal of force in close quarters qnd that edge cuts through meat particularly well.

  • @holdernewtshesrearin5471
    @holdernewtshesrearin5471 2 роки тому +1

    I love my yojimbo-2. Youre right. It can CUT!
    But i dont get a lot of confidence from the handle. The original yojimbo looks to have a much more substantial handle and one that likely has a more secure grip.
    Now that we have the new yojumbo available i think im gonna have to have one.
    Or maybe they new canis. It looks to have a solid grip and well, that blade!
    If im ever going to have to defend myself with a knife i want the longest blade i can get.

      Brother I have a bad temper even now but back then I would go at anyone, anywhere and anytime for basically no reason just because I liked the adrenaline spike. I’m honestly amazed no one just executed my ass back then for some of the shit I pulled. I have met MJ multiple times since that point at shows and such, but he either doesn’t remember me or doesn’t think it’s worthy of a response and until now I just let it fade into the background cause I’m ashamed of that shit. But I always preach about honesty and transparency on my channel so I figured I should practice what I preach and speak about it finally.

    Is this blade style just better at slashing?
    Or is it also better at penetration compared to a clip point/ drop point/ spearpoint and Bowie?

    • @TC-fe7ng
      @TC-fe7ng 3 місяці тому

      From what the designer has stated the point continues to cut and the spine pushes the cut downward and the point continues to cut. The straight edge delivers all force to the cut instead of where the belly on a knife spread out the energy. Which is good for a larger blade but not so much for a knife.

      I really don't use blades for self defense unless I am just training. I carry a sap in my right pocket that can knock someone out in one hit very easily and if I am going somewhere I think I will have trouble I carry my glock 19 and a esp expendable baton.
      Knives are not effective at ending an altercation quickly unless you are looking to kill the person attacking you and even then a million things can go wrong. I love training with them but I do not believe them ideal for actual self-defense unless you have no other options. Just my two cents

It deploys so quick with that loud snap and it immediately has a psychological effect on anyone you draw it on, on top of that the karambit is a the Swiss army knife of edged weaponry, it's hard to learn but once you do it's a incredible weapon.

      Started off doing karate as a kid and then fell in love with muay thai and eskrima thanks to my friend, from there started doing BJJ when the Gracie hype was at a fever pitch, then went to vist my girlfriend at the time's family in Petah Tikva and met an IDF vet who showed me some Krav Maga in exchange for helping him repair his truck and we have been friends for the last decade and I have loved it and trained in it since, Krav Maga and BJJ are what I am best at but in terms of sheer technique I'm not particularly great at either to be honest, I'm just big, strong and move way faster then anyone expects so I do well but beyond the training I just think it's straight up fun and I love it.
      I have played around with about another dozen martial arts but nothing I really stuck with, judo in particular I really liked but I'm so big that getting thrown to the ground even in training was causing some injuries so that had to stop, another one I liked but was causing serious damage was Gorkha but i still use what i learned there for my warm ups and some of the conditioning exercises using the Gada I still incorporate into my workouts.
      I've been fortunate enough to travel a lot and experience a lot, if I am going to be anywhere for longer then a few weeks I also seek out places of training and humble myself completely to learn something new.
