The Hilltop guy does a lot of nub deletes for people. I just got my Shaman... It's a beast. Love it.
Just ordered my YoJumbo. I love Michael Janich and Im definitely a Spyderco fan boy so this was a no brainer for me.
I have a Shaman... and I love it's nub!
I have a black on black Yojumbo on order...
I will love her nub too! Thx MC👍
I do I do I do! It just got here after a 7 month preorder! LOVE IT!💌
MC! Bone to pick here! As an at height worker, rope access tech, and tree climber, lanyard holes are needed !!! I hang upside down and do a lot of bouncing in my daily life!
Also... I took my Shaman, and my Jumbo to a belt sander to remove the bumps. Had to do it.
I love my blacked out yojimbo 2. I can't wait to get this one. I'm waiting for the blacked out version to be released though. I carry large spydercos for self defense. Thanks for the review buddy
Spyderco still kind of has better prices than Benchmade at this point though. The new bugouts are $180. Looking at the bugout compared to the para 3lw $115 vs $180 is a massive difference for the tiny difference in the knives
Para 3 is undoubtedly better than the bug out. Build quality on spyderco knives are just on another level
What's up !! Good video! I've helped a couple friends buy these and you're right, cool factor for DAYS. But it's the Yojimbo for me and my small-ish hands. This guy's a bit of a truck for me lol.
GREAT vid M.C... Just ordered my Jumbo. Had to wait and get Christmas 💸💸 outta the way. I wanted to refresh my memory on it and came to check you out. 👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸
This knife is growing on me (look and style). I’m thinking I’m going to have to save up and get one.
The criminals don't care about the law. This makes law abiding citizens vulnerable. This is a paradox in our society. Carry your YoJumbo. The police aren't going to save you. ;p
facts
Glock 19.
Yojumbo and a Glock 19, all day every day
Regarding the nub thing, I already had the style with my first PM2. It's a non-issue. My Shaman is my favorite folding knife however; I'm about to purchase a Canis and I'm also thinking of getting a Yojumbo. I really am into bigger knives but I also go for medium size and small knives at times. I guess that's the definition of 'knife guy'.
Just bought one today (05/27/2023) along with a Canis. Mine has the DLC coated blade. Really looks mean. Drop-shut action out of the box. Same goes for my Canis.
I have the black coated version...it looks like Batman's pocketknife, lol. I love it!
Man I've been wanting this knife for sooo long.... there's alot of aftermarket scales for it also
The smooth g10 on the shaman looks and feels great. Wish it was more common.
Great video! I like your sense of humor 😄
Even pm2 will catch your fingertip if you leave your finger there. I legitimately never knew that was the nub people were referring to
As to the aggressive G-10, I kinda like it. I'm a firefighter/paramedic and knowing that my knife isn't going to slip is reassuring to me.
Love my Jumbo! Makes me feel like I want someone to jump me. Lol. Kidding!
😂😂
I love my Jimbo, and my Jumbo. Can't wait for folks to start making aftermarket scales.
It was the yojumbo or the canis going to be my next purchase. I am praying I will be able to find work soon.
If I would have known I would have sent you a yo2 sprint run for size comparison. It's quite a bit bigger than the yo2 is.
Really dig mine, stock. Good one for Friday the 13th!
😉
Yojimbo was/is one of the greatest samurai dramas of all time
No compression lock has worked as well as the PM2s.
nice looking knife weird but nice. bet it's a great slicer. awesome video thanks
Would it be possible to take it apart and sand down the g10? To smooth it out a little?
Again your so right I move my finger out of the way without thinking
Will be picking up a BJ Hill moded YoJumbo very soon. Also adding a deep carry clip...factory clip is not for me.
Yeah, you're right. The nub is a complete nit that gets overpicked (ahem, me). Also, satin finishes and OMG deep carry hahah. Preference is such a pain. Keep 'em comin'. 🤘😁🤘
Finally MC hammer😂⚔⚔⚔ Been waiting for that yojumbo vid lol. Love you man!😎🇺🇸
LMAO!! You were cracking me up with the whole Shaman nub rant.
😅
Great knife AND video!
The guy who complains about the nub is probably just made that he has a small nub 🤣
The shaman complaint is weak. Lol I love that safety spot.
Im asumming its the same as the Japanese word yojinbo which is most definitely pronounced Ji not Hi
Honestly, I just don't care about the pronunciation. I know that's gonna rub some people the wrong way, but it just isn't something I care about.
@@metal_complex c'mon, yeah you do..
😄LOL! "There's no way it's goin' anywhere, right? Unless . . you plan on doing a lot of hanging upside down and bouncing . . .if that's" not part of your daily life, then it's probably going to be just fine." 😄
Wow you definitely weren’t yourself on this video sounded kinda agitated 😡 must have been a little extra caffeine lol however still a great review as always 👌🏻
You're underestimating how bad the Shaman nub.. I absolutely hated it, but once I ground it off, my Shaman hasn't left my pocket. I was gonna buy a YoJumbo tomorrow but the nub might be a deal breaker..
I've been carrying my Shaman for almost 3 years. The nub doesn't even register.
@@metal_complex you made it abundantly clear it didn't bother you LOL, but it really does bother other people. Maybe we have bigger fingers or different deployment styles, idk? I deploy the blade using the compression lock, so the nub was truly a pain.. I do agree the shaman is an amazing knife and hasn't left my EDC lineup in 8 months (which is rare)
If the law says you can't carry it don't be stupid and you're good 😎
The nub dont bother me, and i like bigger knifes , but this and the canis i think are epicly ugly mind you they may be great knifes to use.
By the way carving up your enemy is a simple cutting task too🤣
That thing is just too much for me too..
I have a Yojimbo but even that does not even get carried..Almost all my knives are 3.5” blades and below. Most big knives are a pain to carry.
The few bigger knives I own are either thin, light, good blade/handle ratio or I wouldn’t carry them. MT Socom Elites (manuals), Spyderco Military, Steel Will Gekko, ZT 0640 etc
I
Need better knife pants
Love your videos. I am new to the knife enthusiasts world... but...
Shaman is a native spiritual elder pronounced as Shaw-min. Not Shah-min. Brutal to hear over and over lol.
Yikes
Love da vids!!
Literally every review on the yojumbo mentions the nub hitting their finger, I’ve watched almost every video I could find on it in the last few weeks and every single one including yours mentions the fact that this annoys them, I just ordered a yojumbo so I don’t care, but literally all the reviews mention this so maybe watch some other videos lmao
The nub argument is mostly nonsense
First and awesome vid I love the knife
Just get a dremel stone and get rid of it and while apart grind away nub in scales (two dollars)🤔🤔🙄
Or just leave it there. It isn't a big deal.
WOW, REALLY condescending to the urban combat Bushcraft community with that “flint” jab.
Why do they do a screw in stop pin and not a floating one? I feel like it adds to the centering variables on some spydercos
I agree. Doesnt need a screw
I need this with micarta scales.
Or Ti!
This is specifically designed for self defence, you should come and visit South Africa.
Designed for self defense, sure. But what is it more often used for? Regular stuff. And I don't mean 50/50. I mean literally 99.999999+% of the time, it's just being used to cut open cardboard boxes and stuff. I'd rather talk about what it's really being used for by the vast majority of people who buy it.
@@metal_complexeven among people who buy it as a self defence weapon and train in self defence it still is probably used for regular stuff 99.999% of the time
@@andyhayward1261 exactly
Samurais said: if you need a blade only once in your life, you need to carry it with you all the time, every day.
If you use the knife for regular stuff 99.99%, and then it comes to that 0.01% situation - you would want that aggressive handle, and blade sharp as a razor. In that situation you'll understand that all those 99.99 cases before mean nothing.
Pronounced SHAW-man, or Shay-men. Not SHAM-en.
Too big. Jail for sure with this one . My yojimbo will get the job done, and legally, too
that is bbbiiiiigggggg
Embrace the nub
It's a good blade for stabbing.
