I was sent to Oakland a few months ago to view a property in which my company wanted to open a branch. I went to neighboring businesses and inquired about the area and its problems. One of the managers pointed to a group of young scholars across the street and told me that they were the gang that controlled their area of the city and by the time I left, I got to see a drug deal take place. On the rare occasion that the perp doesn’t accept the plea the charges are usually dropped. On the insanely rare case it goes to trial the defense is almost always able to make the jury black people and white women which leads to innocent verdicts. But I promise you the system is run by DAs that are desperate to look like they are down with BLM. I’m told by the old timers that DAs used to boast of high charging and conviction rates. My aunt lives in Oakland and talks about crime like it’s totally normal (way worse since 2020). Can’t park your car on the street, your windows will be smashed or rims missing. People walk by every day testing door handles. She had her purse stolen from her in 2022 while leaving a supermarket and her car was subsequently stolen from the lot. She’s a little frail old white lady and I’ll leave the ethnicity of the people who stole her purse and car to your imagination. California is huge, mostly rural and conservative with farm owners and suburban families, but these crime-pockets of SF Bay Area (where Oakland is) and Los Angeles are roughly 16 million voters combined concentrated to lefty bubbles propagating insane policies while their chosen politicians live in seven-figure gated communities. People immigrating to California for work bring lower living expectations and resultant quality of life is steadily on the decrease. I loathe paying taxes.
The cities being in control needs a remedy. How about 10 votes from a city district is worth one vote from a rural district. Something like that. Nut cases in the city have been ruining things for far too long.
I see similar attitudes here in St. Louis. Media and entertainment has done a great job of convincing most people that we humans are just screwed up and somehow we deserve this kind of life. Thankfully that is changing fast.
That's sad about your aunt. I'm just glad she wasn't hurt or worse. We can guess who the culprits were without any descriptios...... SMH. This degradation around the country began on January 20, 2009. It has continued almost unabated since that time. My father, who passed in 1994 would not believe what much of the country has become. Had I seen the videos of Oakland, San Francisco, Philadelphia, LA and more only 15 years ago, I would have thought that they were taken in Africa. Many places in the US now resemble 3rd world countries. About 50 % of the country approves of this destruction because they keep voting Democrat.
I have already had to flee one city that got overrun. Now I fear I will have to leave the one city I actually care about. The D's keep ruining everything they touch.
It’s actually not 50% of the country. It’s just that the population centers often outvote the larger and less urban areas by virtue of density and district zoning which has given them all the advantages when it comes to political control/power.
My Dad passed away at age 53 on June 21st, 2001 and I always think about what he’d say about the world we live in and the way democrats have destroyed almost every major city. Fun true story: In 1986, my wife and I at the time were waiting in line at the Oakland coliseum a day in advance, to see U2 in concert. While we were waiting in line at least two people near us in line had their cars stolen.😮
The closure of the Oakland Airport In & Out Burger is the telling story for Oakland's plight. The criminal laws in California and Alameda County have given criminals a "free pass" to loot as much as they can without punishment. And it happens in more California cities than just Oakland.
You should report on how Oakland International Airport is changing its name. They're taking the word "Oakland" out of their name, because it's too embarrassing.
@@JohnBrown-vn2qw They're planning to call it "San Francisco Bay International Airport." San Francisco International Airport (the real one) has already filed a trademark suit against them. It would be hilarious if they did get to call themselves that, because thousands of travelers would get stranded in the wrong airport on the wrong side of the bay every year, having booked the wrong ticket.
If the city was so good, two of their billion dollar sport franchises wouldn’t have left. They were willing to go play IN THE DESERT to be able to leave.
It's the people who make a place bad, not the location. Vegas can be hot but there's this thing called AC. Likely the new A's stadium will be indoor/outdoor with closing roof during hot weather.
Buddy of mine was out there for a wedding. They all decided to go see the Golden Gate. While they were standing there, a group of hoodies ran thru the lot & smashed/grabbed every car in the lot. The cops would not even dispatch for report. They told him they get so many "of those" he had to go to the station if he "really wanted" a report. When he returned the rental, they did not even blink. They said, "they all come back that way".
The mayor has done something, she increased the number of "community ambassadors" to fight crime. Doesn't seem to be working, but in her recent "I'm not a crook" speech she doubled down on the ambassadors thing.
Oakland, St. Louis, Memphis, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Baltimore, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Milwaukee, etc., were all great cities and were all decimated by the same thing.
Oakland, San Francisco, Detroit, Chicago, all examples of '3rd world' cities that are going downhill beyond saving. Extremely high crime, normalized theft and drug usage, light on crime.
This type of behavior affects everyone, many popular stores like Walmart and Target are now locking up many products behind glass making shopping very annoying and harder to do for everyday regular people. It increases costs which are passed on to paying people that don't steal to account for the theft. It makes everyone's lives harder.
C I v I l w a r is probably coming. We can’t just let cities go. We are as a country little more than a collection of cities. Things haven’t been this bad for at least 45 years. This has to be the biggest decline in our history actually. Just 4 years. And it was voluntary. Big step backwards to cater to the imaginary innocent minorities in our feeble minds.
So, what are the ways we can avoid this "civil war" between multiple groups of people? Better cities, better laws? Making sure every person in each city makes thier opinion known?
My friend dated this crazy Oakland girl when she got pissed serious business went down she would break furniture , put holes in walls with chairs , this back door got broke , she was totally hot though that's all that matters.
The other situation compounding the problem is that the A's left Oakland. A lot of travelers would fly into OAK to see the games. Now, without that, travel to the OAK airport is down. They even changed the name recently to boost travel. But yes, the lazy mayor can be blamed for much of this because she has done nothing since being elected.
Oakland is losing everything from professional sports franchises to fast food restaurants. Oakland is going to look like Chernobyl give it another 20 to 30 years
I did a little digging to see if passenger traffic was down too, and it's not. It really is the high crime, and crime without legal consequences for the criminals causing this, with many large businesses closing in the airport corridor in recent years. City leaders blamed some companies (e.g. Walmart) leaving due to "a recent minimum wage increase" ...talk about narrative shifting!
@bjkarana Why are they so averse to the idea that bad people exist? Not everyone has an american idol tragic backstory that excuses every dumb decision they've made, some people are just born bad and you have to lock them away so the rest of us can have nice things
I was born in Oakland 1951. I should go back a visit. Rent a car. Walk around in shorts and t shirt with a wallet full of spending money. Watta ya think?
I live in the SF Bay Area. A geographic correction here; what is called "Silicon Valley" is not San Francisco. Silicon Valley is 40+ miles to the south of San Francisco down in the Santa Clara Valley. Even the people trying to include the city of San Jose as Silicon Valley are incorrect. Silicon Valley was born out of Moffet Field in Mt. View, and only consists of the northwestern portion of the Santa Clara Valley, which is the cites of Mt. View, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, and Cupertino. Arguably you can include the city of Santa Clara in to that mix, but that is debatable.
When police cannot do anything and when the mayor does not do anything with regards to crime, this city will deteriorate. Who would want to stay in a hotel that criminals can just enter and who would be comfortable eating at a restaurant worrying your car will get broken or thieves can just go inside and get your wallet?

20 years ago I was headed on a flight from Newark New Jersey airport to Orlando, Florida. When my boyfriend and I, at the time, got to the airport in Newark, they asked us if we were willing to give up our seats in coach to take a first class seat the following morning… we would get free vouchers for food and a hotel room to sleep in for the night at the local Hilton. I realized that the hotels that are in very close proximity to the airports work with each other in situations like these, which means the hotel is making a ton of money from the airport alone. To hear that a hotel right next to an airport is shutting down… It couldn’t be more obvious why. Not to mention we’re talking about Oakland here lol.

“Diversion” whereby they go to some program and not kill anyone, then after a year they get their case dismissed goes on his/her merry way and the victim may have lingering injuries but SO SORRY IT SUCKS TO BE YOU.
MSNBC just said the other day that crime is the lowest on record. They were boasting about Bidens accomplishments. 😂😂
It’s easy when you remove some places, and reclassify crimes as not crime..lol
The blue cities stopped sending in data. They also stopped arresting people.
I have scumbag friends and taboos having grown up in the hood. Now in a CO going on 20 years.
Everything that would be rape in the 90’s is now SA. 90% of what was murder is now pled down to manslaughter.
Battery is plead down to assault.
On the rare occasion that the perp doesn’t accept the plea the charges are usually dropped. On the insanely rare case it goes to trial the defense is almost always able to make the jury black people and white women which leads to innocent verdicts. White men serve on juries around half the amount they should based on them being around 1/3rd the country.
I have no idea how bad crime is compared to the past. But I promise you the system is run by DAs that are desperate to look like they are down with BLM.
I’m told by the old timers that DAs used to boast of high charging and conviction rates. Now they boast the reverse
Also majority is just going unreported
So they stopped charging people for many of the crimes they commit and letting them go. This way the leftist media can say look crime is down.

SMH.
You are absolutely right about the politicians living in wealthy and gated communities. My guess is that they will fix the crime issue only WHEN (not if) it hits their neighborhoods.
Air China Flight 006 Beijing/ Oakland...."Ladies and gentleman this is your captain speaking. We will be landing in Oakland in twenty minutes. Maybe you think twice about coming to Oakland. Sayonara!
Libby Schaff was bad enough but Sheng Thao is the coup de grace to Oakland
SF also won’t permit conferences from states that have laws they disagree with.
Read something a few days ago that said SF had about 200 conferences cancel and relocate last year. They may project that but the truth is that business are abandoning it.

I was just there attending a wedding and doing some hiking. The trailheads are filled with signs telling you to remove everything from your car to avoid your windows being broken. Lovely.
San Francisco has those same signs....Actually I think most of the Bay Area does. Fantastic place. Signs solve crime! Everyone knows that.
It doesn't matter what you take or leave in your car. Thieves smash your windows just to take a look, whether something is there or not
This degradation around the country began on January 20, 2009.
Be going on for a long time!!!
I truly believe democrats are demons in flesh suits and destruction brings them joy. There’s no other way to explain what’s going on

The closure of the Oakland Airport In & Out Burger is the telling story for Oakland's plight. The criminal laws in California and Alameda County have given criminals a "free pass" to loot as much as they can without punishment. And it happens in more California cities than just Oakland.
Couldn't have happened to a better group of people

Well... I'm sure the Krassensteins will have a perfectly good excuse for why this is just a giant coincidence.
You should report on how Oakland International Airport is changing its name. They're taking the word "Oakland" out of their name, because it's too embarrassing.
what is it called? just international airport😂
Little Mexico Airport?

The cancer is spreading.
The mayor has done something, she increased the number of "community ambassadors" to fight crime. Doesn't seem to be working, but in her recent "I'm not a crook" speech she doubled down on the ambassadors thing.

Add Albuquerque.
Baltimore.

is probably coming.
@@AntiKira20 There is another type instead of civil.

The other situation compounding the problem is that the A's left Oakland. A lot of travelers would fly into OAK to see the games. Now, without that, travel to the OAK airport is down.
