Your MiniME makes me think back to ALL the times my dad worked on his cars and i watched and helped as a wee little kid. I never had kids and now that my fathers no longer with us, watching other fathers with their kids is interesting. It makes me think back to when I was that little boy running to grab the wrench. What I wouldn't give to be able to do that for my father one last time. Life's short tell your loved ones that you love them TODAY.
Yep, my father used to work on his cars when I was a wee lad, too. They were mainly late 60's and early 70's cars back then he had owned throughout the 70's and early 80's. The '71 Fiat 124 he owned and drove for a few years was a regular father & son get together gathering spot when I was age from 4 to 7. Then he also had an oil burning '71 Chevy fullsize wagon (not sure if it had the 400 small block or 402 big block, but I distinctly remember that she had the fender tag designating 400), the plugs had to be cleaned monthly! Then it was on to a '73 Torino Squire wagon-she leaked coolant alot and I remember adding gallons, and gallons, and gallons of coolant to it over a period of 6 months or so. Dad never fixed the leak, as the car needed extra time before it'd start moving the car each morning and he figured the trans would die any day, but it never did. He instead lost his patience with it, and so it was parked in the yard until around 5 years later as I was working as a teen and replaced the waterpump in it myself, and then she was my ride while in high school! Ah, to relive those happy, happy days of yore!
Dad's been gone for years, but I remember hating having to help him in the garage, esp when friends came by asking if I could go play and he'd say no, I was busy. Always on the weekends too.

Well, in 2001 I bought a brand new s10 to use as a commuter truck to keep the miles off my diesel. I put over 300k on that truck and it still ran good when I sold it in 2018. So I can say it was definitely good enough. Besides normal wear and tear items it never gave me problems. True story, in winter I put 400lbs of sand bags in the back over the rear axle and I was passing 4x4's in the snow without chains. Since new I always used Royale Purple synthetic oil and changed it about every 5000 miles. It was a great little truck. Oh, when I ordered the truck, I asked for an absolute base model. It was a 5 speed manual, no AC, AM/FM radio only, crank down windows, no electronics, etc. The dealership thought I was crazy. But, all I wanted was a commuter truck just for going to work and back. Something new but cheap. I paid $7000 for it, and ran it for 17 years......

I had a 1986 S-10 it was blue like that. Little 4 cylinder it had was blown so I went to the junk yard because the rearend was locked up, told the trans slipped so bad it ran in the red line and blown the motor from that. So got a 4 link 9” ford, 6 speed manual and start a 350ci SBC build that ended up at 383ci SBC. I had two double pumpers and it was stupid fast. Miss my old truck it was my first. Got it at 13 years old and built it up. Learned welding, wiring, how to do almost all of it. The next owner almost killed himself in it but the roll cage saved him motor and trans were ripped apart truck was almost all crushed up very sad but he lived so I guess my teenage self did good all in all. Looking forward to watching another ‘86 build

Why apologize?
That's the best "last time I was this early" I've seen yet
Those old iron dukes will run forever, had one with close to 500,000 miles on the clock before she finally got tired, great little trucks, gotta Luv the S-10's!!!!
Love seeing the boys there learning and having fun....also great to see you making him wear safety glasses you only get one set of eyes
11:40 when he said this I got really excited and was hoping he was going to pull out a blowtorch. Better, he pulled out the ol' aerosol can and lighter! Yes Yes Yes!!!!!
I love seeing the little guys earning their keep! Best dad ever💯%. Bless you & yours bro👌🏾😎
Love the old S10's
Love how your boy doesn’t react at all to your humor lol
I didn't listen to my parents until at least 15
He's immune to it by now haha
We are definitely in the same boat about never having brakes on an old car. It's a curse, I swear it is!
Same here man...LOL
When going through old junk I bring home, im on the lookout for my wife finding out what I just brought home!!
Coming back to this one 3 years later... My stars the amount of progress you made in Independence. A feller misses that rig.
"Poor thing had a fram in her" probably caused that tick.
fram is a roll of toilet paper in a can !!!!
Poor Rocky, hope whoever got him. Brought it back around.
Very handy that you installed a multi connector battree in the old girl. Don’t forget to install one of those fancy Kraco decks with amp, which will mount right up to the top post for power.
"gonna have to do another wasp delete"
Okay...Immediately bust out laughing.
The best wasp delete is some WD40... (aka Wasp Delete 40) They start droppin' immediately....and you don't risk burning down your shop.
I lost it at: Sorry I burnt your house, dudes.
This guy when it comes to colorful use of the English language would give AvE a run for his money but do it clean which is kind of a lost art.
@@jimmycricket5366 But that doesn't make content! :P

I'm happy to see that Derek is teaching his kids to work on cars on their own I wished my dad knew how to work on cars but he knew construction unfortunately he died of lung cancer when I was 14 so it was very hard to grow up without a dad though out my teenage years
Such a magical combination of AvE and American corn farmer, I'm subbed for life!
Your going to have to look up zip ties and bias plies
