    Setting 2 is my go to. Three if I go more than 3 days. It's an amazing shave. Mild yet so efficient. The knurling is magical too.

    I like your channel over big name channels because you actually go over the details of the products for the shave. Many many big channels briefly show the products & jabber away about life & hardly mention how the products actually work. Small talk is fine but I’m here for the reviews.
    I prefer synthetic brushes. Super soft & don’t irritate my neck. No pre soak, no smell & I’ll put my 28mm beehive up to the lather challenge any day of the week!
    The Rex razors are beautiful but I would have to borrow a buddies and just love it to consider them. No way I could buy one & hope I like it at the price point! I have too many $30-$60 razors I love to justify the Rex $$$

    Thank you for talking about alum block concerns. I don’t use my alum block anymore. I did when I 1st started. They dry my face & I question the health concerns of using them daily as so many do. I know they claim the molecule is too large to get absorbed but I find that hard to believe.

    REX have just released the non-adjustable slant, The Sentry (which is a good name). USD$189.
    Having just bought an Ambassador (second-hand, and at much reduced price), I can't justify the personal cost, but the Sentry is definitely tempting, given Heiko's experiences with the Konsul.
    Perhaps in a couple of Christmases.

    The Konsul (mine is the XL- Rhodium Plated) and its matching stand is a work of art…a fantastic addition to my shave den. It delivers an extremely smooth and efficient shave every time I pick it up. It adjusts on the fly so it’s easy to dial in the right setting depending upon skin type, days of growth, coarseness, etc. My personal blades of choice are, in order: AccuForge, Gillette Platinum, and Kai. I rank it right alongside my Rockwell T2 SS. While pricey, both are legacy razors that check all the boxes.

      Would you pick the Rex Konsul or the Rockwell T2 if you could only have one given the cost and satisfaction each razor provides?

    • @donaldlyons7143
      @donaldlyons7143 3 місяці тому +1

      @musashi4856 ….tough call but the T2SS probably would get the nod. Both are adjustable on the fly and perform exceedingly well. Build quality goes slightly to the Konsul. The T2SS seems the slightly smoother of the two. The Konsul (and the stand) is beautiful…stunning really, and would grace any shave den. So it’s kind of a draw. Tossing in cost, the T2SS definitely has the edge. $250.00 vs $400.00 or so. I’m glad I don’t have to make that choice. Both are outstanding!

      @@musashi4856 I have the regular T2 and the Konsul. I would pick the Konsul. The head of the T2 is too bulky for my liking and at least on the regular T2 the setting 1 and 2 are pretty much unusable (too mild/inefficient).

    Great shave Heiko. The Rex Konsul seems like a very interesting razor. First time I see an adjustable slant. Rex really makes interesting and high quality products. I have yet to try their soaps whether the Razor Emporium line or the Rex Supply Co line with 1955 and 1966 but they are intriguing. If I ever splurge and get myself an adjustable it will be the Ambassador.
    Keep making your great videos, always look forward to watching them.

    Nice review shave🤟When I load my blades I put them on the top cap alignment pins first and then drop the bottom plate down on top. I understand the controversy about Alum but I still use Alum after many of my shaves but wash it off after 30 secs, not sure if that helps preventing absorption though! Take care Buddy🤟🤠👍

    Great shave and review Heiko. I have all the PAA brushes and the 24 mm work great for me when doing a bowl lather. For face lathering their 26mm work great. I have the Konsul and find that for me it has too much blade feel. Maybe later on I will give it another try. I agree with you, i tried the Rex Ambassador and even on setting 1 it was too aggressive.
    So i got the Konsul.
    If i have really long stubble, i can max go to setting 3 and still be comfortable-ish, but usually i start at 2.5-ish for the 1st pass, and then go down in settings.

      if you want a cheap, yet still effective and mild Slant razor, i'd go for a Parker Semi-Slant or the Merkur 37C.
      Or if you want a cheap, very effective AND aggressive slant, go for PAA's Phantom Blue or any of their other Open Comb Double Monster Slant ABS plastic razors.@@Heiko-shaves

    I definitely prefer the awesome knurling on the Ambassador over the Konsul. I wish they’d offer an option to have the other handle on the Konsul. Is this your favorite razor so far? If not, what is?

    • @Heiko-shaves
      @Heiko-shaves  9 місяців тому

      Options are always good. Tough question. I don't really have one favorite. I guess when it comes to pride of ownership the Konsul would be great but there are other razors that shave just as well or even better (consider my mission statement, I am on the hunt for the best mild razors out there).

    Did you read an ingredient name from the Proraso Alum Gel list, "Hydrochloric Acid"? Difficult to imagine what THAT! If it is for formulation pH control, I would guess some organic acid should be a better choice.

      @@Heiko-shaves I could only imagine for pH control, but being a post shave balm(?) I cannot imagine such a need. I would wonder why not use some more natural-related organic acid instead. Maybe, this is important for the understanding of the included "Alum".
