I was one of the first that sprayed this color back in early 2017 before they released the tech sheet. The color does change from model to model(cx-5, cx-9, etc) and from year to year(2017-2018). I never based it in black. I shoot it directly over 1200 prepared sealer.Gun pressure at 25psi and 1.2 tip HVLP for cover coats and controls(double control x 2).
This color is tough! I have painted 3 of them. And of them have been a different alt. Pain in the ass. 72500 one of the best clears I have ever shot! Period
Thanks for the videos keep them coming. I spray Sikkens autowave, they have no formula for 46g so I had to order a fac pack from ppg and it was similar steps in application it sucked but it came out nice . Again thanks for sharing your experience.
I have some stone chips on my bonnet, does the whole bonnet have to be sprayed to fix this or can it be patched, tried touch up paint but as you know there is no match for this colour
Since I made this video, there have been many new formulations to come out. I just did a bumper job on a CX-9 earlier this week actually that matched great with a new formula from Axalta. If stone chips are thst bad, repair them, paint the hood and blend the fenders.
every gun is different on setup. I use Satas, and have for years. On this, I used a 1.2 5000 RP, base PSI was around 25 psi. Clear was a 1.3 5000 RP, around 27 PSI
I am getting some tiny clusters of pinholes in my clear. What what psi would you use for sata minijet 3000 1.0 tip? I dont know whats causing the issue.
BoothTalk I don’t have Instagram. Is there any way I could spray this color without all the process. Perhaps I could use the camera? Please tell me what formula u used and how to tinted.
Omar Creed sorry, but there’s no way to shortcut it. The problem is that the unique flake needs to go over such a smooth surface. ANY shortcutting will make the flake lay down wrong, and can lead to a redo. Yes it sucks to do all of these steps, but it’s better than having to redo it. When you see one come in, make sure you have enough time on your sheet, usually a quad coat is available as a manual entry in your estimating software. Good luck, it sucks, but it’s doable.
Matches great in Sikkens’s solvent lighter formula. Just a base coat clear coat😊keep up the Great videos👍🏾watching from AZ 🌞
