    About the Key thingy. The Basslines are most of the times in Dominant Phrygian, e.g. 1,2b,3,4,5,6b,7b or normal phrygian 1,2b,3b,4,5,6b,7b. Staying close the root/root chord is what gives it this consinsten feeling, combined with the many close movements/movements to the fith of the chord, which adds this evil feeling.       @@volttheunknown A Chord is a collection of notes that are played at the same time creating a chord. You can look it up and find examples there are some bery complex chords that contain a lot more than just 3 at a time.

    Taking a minor key and diminishing the 2nd note makes it "phrygian," I think. This is very common for mid-tempo stuff.

    The TB-303 was actually quite good at being a bass guitar, if you followed like a 12-step tutorial they put in the manual. The "acid" sound just came from some producers trying something different with the machine.

    2:24 If you wanted a kind-of 80's snare, you could use JP-ME1 reverb plugin (which is free btw). It has a great gated reverb sound in it.

      This name could make sense if the genre was straight ofshoot of Synthwave, but it isn't, there's a lot more influence of EBM/Industrial and French House.

    Cyberpunk is the best thing that happened to EBM. The snare is usually gated snare not a ... long one. The reverb on it is just to glue it to the modern-er vibes.

    Tried this on my modular today, it went quite well, I messed up the toms by making them a bit to punchy instead of making them sing.
    And since I don’t have drive I tried to make the bass very saturated. Didn’t quite get there. But it was a fun first try.
