Whenever OSU plays the opposing teams fight song, that’s the best it’s ever been played. My Dad was in M-Row back in the 90’s and now I am in M-Row at my highschool band. TBDBITL against the world 👑
As a Chicago free-lancer who picked up the trombone to play in TBDBITL (then went to a different music school-but that's another story) I APPROVE! those 8Hs sound GREAT! They were Bach 36 back in my day. BTW, as a precocious 16 year old in 1980, I had the temerity to recommend to Dr Droste that The Band really should have a rank of bass trombones! I LOVE their addition, they sound great on the broadcasts when they occasionally poke out when you guys play from the stands!
Really nice job on the trombone. Also, it was good to the band from the field. The platform band was a real distraction and they were not in tune with the marching band. The show was hard to watch from the video from the stands. The platform band and the marching band did not seem to be together. It could have been the echo from the stadium. Anyway, you did a great job! Thanks for the video from the field.
Is there a moment (off camera) when you guys tuned up together? Your collective pitch is so good. A quick search gives tuning procedures for concert bands, but how do marching bands establish the ensemble pitch?
i wish i could join tbdbitl, but im just a mere saxophonist in my local high school marching band :( i was thinking about taking up baritone or french horn, but i have a feeling i wouldnt be a great mello player with barely any brass experience XD p.s our band went to the 2022 buckeye invitational AND got a 1, so i probably saw you there =:)
Many (most?) of the mellophones in the band were woodwinds in HS! When May comes around, search "Ohio State Band Summer Sessions" and you should be be able to find a link to sign up for band practices. They happen throughout the summer and they even allow you to check out instruments! Alternatively, my band director was an oboe in HS and became a section leader on the cymbals in TBDBITL. There are many ways to make it, and the first step is to go to summer sessions!
i wish i was in this band i was able to meet a Ohio state trombonist named Ben who went to Medina and took pictures together with the Medina trombones it was fun.
I'm just in awe watching you guys over there in the states do this. Do you think think your band would play football better then the football team would do this? You should have a swap one week and see what happens.
As a fellow trombonist and a member of the marching band that won the 2022 OSU invitational I enjoy these videos greatly
You should join F Row 👀👀👀
@@benprochaska8118 what’s that? I’ve been looking for something new and our band won best in music at the invitational.
@@colespangler8267 that's the trombone row!
@@benprochaska8118 I’d do anything for that in a few years. Still got a little more time to put in for grove city high school
@@colespangler8267 I thought you guys did great and it was a blast to be there

I love how y’all always play the opposing teams fight song after halt-kick down rest 1,2,3
I'll never figure out how you don't run into each other during Script Ohio. Always amazes me.

Wow. Turn your corners square and drive, drive, drive. This F-Row member has some nice OH snap...and nice tone too. Great to see.

It was hard to tune due to the cold! It was very fun to perform, this was one of my favorite shows!

Very early in the morning. For a noon game, we tune at about 7. We start from the basses and go up!

@@benprochaska8118 this is very encouraging as a high school woodwind player
1964-1968 h.s. marching, concert, pit band, and county band alum. Miss it all these years later.
