- Happy Halloween two weeks later, everyone! Sorry about the long hiatus. I've been working on a ton of projects at once between my day job and school work, so it took a second to bunker down and throw this together. I have the review for Batman Arkham Knight still in the works and I'm editing another video about sewing. So look out for those I guess. I bet no one will watch this because it's not about Spider-Man games!

First of all: IMO more like ghost rider AND the prowler, the reason is that ghost rider is weak to holy weapons and speaking of weapons, he can also SPAWN any weapon he wants (no wonder I have no friends) and also prowler because, well... look at him, he looks like the prowler except they color swapped him with red, whit, and green eyes
And second: you kinda are right on saying venom, I mean have you seen his suit for MK11? Wooooooo it’s amazing, my personal favorites are the armored suits and the classic like suits

ComicWriter 2020 actually Image now has tons of phenomenal titles. Sex Criminals, Sex, Bitch Planet, Deadly Class, Black Science, Low, The Bounce, and Chew are some of my favs. There’s definitely more.

I love how he says this like it’s a bad thing while simultaneously deriding Todd’s ability to tell a story. It mirrors OPs inability to make a point.
The story doesn’t revolve around Al Simmons, he’s just a part of it. The whole point is Al doesn’t really know what he’s supposed to do and often times in trying to do the right things he plays right into Malebolgia’s hands.
Supposedly, this may be along the lines of how Judge Dredd: Mega City One will go.

I had made a Rorschach costume for my friend as I take commissions every now and then for my buddies (I made the mask with heat activated ink so when he breathes it moves). When we were walking we didn't notice Todd's booth but he literally came up to us as said wow that Rorschach costume is badass can I take a picture with you and we got pics with him for free. He then asked my friend where he got the costume and pointed at me and he just went "That is so badass, you have talent!" I geeked out so hard bruh.
Huh, that's a fun coincidence. I made a Rorschach costume for my friend to wear to Comic Con in 2014. It was the only comic he had ever read by that point and he really wanted to cosplay as the character, but didn't know anything about throwing together clothes for it. So him and I drove around town all day looking for clothes at Good Will's and thrift stores until we got him all these really authentic pieces. Luckily no one noticed the buttons were on the wrong side of the jacket because we could only find a women's in his size.
***** Awesome and yeah I had made the costume from the ground uo and came out pretty well with the highlight being the mask lol. And I guess great minds think alike 😂

Todd was involved in the production of the show and if you watch the portion where Todd himself discusses it you will see the evolution of the character was deliberate: it
served to prevent animators in Korea from making too many mistakes but simultaneously it showed Spawn's progression (or regression?) as a character! In the first season, Spawn started out as more of a traditional super hero fighting criminals, whereas in the second and third seasons, he became an urban legend, one of a "vampire" prowling around near the scene of some brutal killings and incidents; an angry specter striking from the shadows, dishing out justice while helping the weak victims of evil forces.
The show is about a former "Special Ops" agent. who became a Hell-Spawn, one very familiar with "the evil that men do" but who chose to bring the fight to them, while still struggling to regain his own humanity! To say this series is EXCELLENT is an under- statement!
Pulsar Stargrave I think when Spawn finally gets out of the standard superhero stage he becomes far more interesting. A bit like an Othello or MacBeth type character imo.

I’m happy Ed Boon and Nether Realm realized that Keith David is THE voice of Spawn as Kevin Conroy is THE voice of Batman.
Twitch was one of my most favourite characters in the show, he’s a smart, fearless and a badass character where he can’t be relatable but instead a guy where he slowly comes to the conclusion in identifying Spawn. That one part where he got shot in the head was really surprising, thank god he’s still alive and now shows off his badassery.
CIDES Agreed! Twitch is my favorite character in the show. I like Twitch because I personally find smart, calm, genius, patient, and humble characters like L and Itachi relatable. That’s just me. I find it awesome to see a little guy like Twitch kick some ass. I really liked the parts when Twitch didn’t flinch at Chapel and talked calmly to Spawn.

Image Comics was huge in the 90s & Spawn was arguably the greatest character that came out of it. While I liked the cartoon as a kid, it was too slow paced & it just ended abruptly (just as the story was finally going somewhere). We really need a reboot of this series on a platform like Netflix.
It was supposed to get a 4th season but hbo didnt like the numbers it was getting soo it pulled the plug on it
If only they would give this a Blue Ray Remaster or something. Truly one of the best shows from the 90s

I just binged this series and I really liked it, but it had the issue of introducing plot elements and never doing anything with them.
* Overtkill is killed offscreen
* Overtkill is never repaired despite claims that he could be
* Spawn gets a bunch of guns and never uses them, despite them becoming a major plot point
* Angela is introduced and then never does anything
* Violator appears in every episode, but doesn't do much more than whisper after the first season
* Violator claims "this isn't over", but never actually comes back to do anything
* Spawn's spawn is never born
* We never even get to see Malbogia (Malborgia?)
* The cliff hanger really left the series on a note of "We just gettin' started!"
You hit so many of the points I had. Especially killing off Overkill offscreen. This has to he one of the only comic based anythings I can think of that would show shadowy phone calls over a demon fighting a cyborg. Nope, not like I'd wanna see that...

I just watched the series in lk 3 days and I don’t mind plot holes but this shit was like so obviously capped on time that they shouldn’t have done so much lol.. it was very fun to watch tho

For some reason, Todd McFarlane has some weird fascination with having Spawn media not really having Spawn. This show, and the Spawn reboot, which he wants to star Sam and Max-I mean Twitch, with Spawn only having an appearance.
DarkHero Gamer I guess he thinks Spawn's too silly to be at the forefront? Even though this interpretation of Spawn is pretty complex and interesting.

@Jeshex I disagree. I think he's the best character ever. I want media outside the comics to actually focus on him as much as the comics do. That's one of the main reasons I hate his media outside the comics.
You could do a video on the MTV Spider-Man show. Not a lot of people know about it, and from what I've seen fan opinion is very mixed. It's just this weird corner of the Spider-Man mythos where it's kind of a continuation of the first Sam Rami film, but also trying to tell it's own story with unique characters. I don't know, I think it's fascinating.
Rory Baker I watched that when I was maybe 13, I watched the first few episodes when they premiered but i wasn't able to watch it weekly cause I had a short attention span and forgot to catch it. and I didn't have a TiVo or anything to record it at the time. I thought it was a pretty cool show. I liked the art style, and I liked the few episodes I got to watch, but it was on MTV, and from what I remember it had some cringe worthy romantic scenes. but I never remember it for anything it did good or great.
I remember seeing an episode of it when I was 7. It was the Electro episode. I honestly kinda liked it.

I was always REALLY impressed with the audio mixing in this show. Everyone sounded like they were in the room with me.
Don't forget that the people who made Spawn _DID_ go on to create heavy metal album covers. The guys behind this series did animated music videos for Disturbed.
i have watched this channel grow from 50 subs to nearly 7,000 and i still love it so keep it up

Calling this show a hidden gem is an understatement. This show is like a hidden diamond that shines brighter than a fucking star when you finally find it.

Did you know the reason for Angela being with Marvel now is because she was created by McFarlane, but by NEIL GAIMAN? And McFarlane has a bit of a bad history when it comes to paying royalty to creators of characters e used.
Which, by the way, if you know anything about why Image was founded and the crossover issue Spawn had with Cerebus the Aardvark the issue immediately following Angela’s appearance, is one of the most disgusting and hypocritical bits of irony in the entire comic book industry.

History has shown us that Todd McFarlane really is a terrible person. That doesn't take away from what he accomplished, but he's done A LOT of horrible things.

Spawns design is super detailed in the comics, but he’ll always be the coolest when he’s just the shadow with the cape
despite owning almost only manga, my girlfriend has The Complete Collection of Hell Spawn on our bookshelf, and I have yet to read it. I remember watching the live action Spawn movie on late night television, and I remember thinking how dumb it all was.

Batman and Spawn came out in dark times in world history. Operation Just Cause and Operation Desert Shield/Storm were very fresh in people's minds. Operation Gothic Serpent (Black Hawk Down) and the Waco Seige showed dead and injured men on national television. The Yugoslavia had fallen apart and the images of armed troops and destitute folk had been broadcasted across the globe. The Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma was demolished. Before the millenia closed out, U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were attacked by Al Qaeda.
Dark television shows for dark times. These shows came out during the perfect storm of worldwide politics. Sorry if that sounds bad.

I think the colors of the costume thing is pretty nittpicky, considering how badass he looks in those shadows. For example, spawn perched on the cross with just his eyes and cloak being super colored. it gives him an ominous feel, and the glowing green is meant to be the truly bright color, as it gives him an inhuman feel.

I always liked how every episode opened with Todd McFarland asking questions and telling us stuff about spawn
To be fair to Todd Mcfarlane, Stan Lee did that exact samething when creating Spider-Man. He was told that people don't like spiders, and a poor teenager down on his luck, and Spider-man would never sell.
I tried to draw Spawn once, it went actually pretty good.

I stumbled onto this show awhile ago and was always amazed with the design of Spawn. It’s a shame this series was never completed.
Loved this cartoon growing up.. and basically cartoons like this was hard to see at this time. The only adult cartoon with this language and nudity was Japanese anime and you had to rent or buy that stuff at the time. So to have this cartoon on HBO I thought it was amazing.

9:20 especially weird considering Spawn isn’t a marvel character. Last i looked he was still just an Image comics publication.
Todd was partnered with Neil Gaiman, who created Angela for Image. Todd and Neil had a falling out so Neil took Angela to Marvel
as "lazy" as coloring Spawn all black and red might be, you have to admit it is a very cost-effective way to make him look cool/scary, sometimes the best scenes/aspects of a product are the creative ways the studio finds to cut angles, Todd might be a questionable writer but he knew how to make things look cool.
Most superhero costumes are simple color wise. He’s actually more detailed than most

I like how it's a way to make Spawn more like a ghost or phantom. Even in the comics he can hide in darkness and appear out of nowhere

Is Spawn a ghost or a demon, because I noticed you called him both?
Even though you were clowning on Todd Mcfarlane for how ridiculous and apparently lazy it is that Spawn is kept in shadow most of the time, I do see where he’s coming from. When you can barely make Spawn out in the darkness and the only things you see are his glowing green eyes, there’s a fear to that. Something that could easily kill you is something you can’t see or understand.
It’s the equivalent to saying that some of Batman’s writers are lazy for putting him in the shadows. He’s a symbol of fear for the criminals

I started this Show, It's on Prime Instant Streaming, in prep for his MK11 appearance. it's way better than I ever expected.
Surprised nobody mentioned this and I'm way late, but there were actually two notable people from Batman The Animated Series working on this show.
The first is Eric Radomski, who left BTAS to work on this. This actually mattered a lot because he was the one who did the iconic title cards for all the episodes, and that's why they aren't there for Superman The Animated Series or The New Batman Adventures.
The second is, much to my surprise, Shirley Walker, aka the composer who did all the music for BTAS and STAS. There isn't much in the way of the memorable leitmotifs that made her work on BTAS so strong, the soundscape of the show is a lot more subdued and atmospheric.
Man I wish this show would get a new season! I wanna see malebolgia in this dark version!
The reason why Angela was in Guardians of the Galaxy was because she was created by another guy named Neil Gaiman (he created the Coraline book and DC's The Sandman ) and I think Neil had beef with Todd because Todd used Angela in the series and toys without permission or giving him money. I think Neil won a lawsuit to get Angela back and he put her in Marvel to piss off Todd cuz Todd hated Marvel which was why he quit.
Also since Chapel was created and owned by Rob Liefeld, Rob also didn't like Chapel being used in the series so Rob quitted Image Comics and took Chapel, this is why Chapel wasn't in the movie and was replaced by Jessica Priest AND Spawn's death was retconed in the comics since it was written that Chapel killed him.
In my headcanon it was always Chapel who torched Al

The Man From Krypton (don’t take this too seriously) except ya know one brutally kills people (with guns no less) and is a monster trying to be a man. The other (sometimes) has a no killing rule that’s a man trying to a “monster”/ symbol of fear. Lol All jokes aside you forgot the to mention the fact that the both of them have clown issues.
Keith rules as Spawn. I'm glad he is back as his voice in Mk11.
Underrated Masterpiece!
10:26 I like Spawn in the shadows it makes him look ghostly and other worldly. Plus when your stuck looking like Hot Topic Prowler then maybe you can understand him staying in the shadows.
Excellent adult animation series and its Heavy Metal, CSI, The Crow and Batman TAS in one and loved it since 15 when it came out.
So many comedies in adult animation as we need more adult animation like this
