If I had this block, I wouldn't be able to move it in a hundred years. The heartwood is beautiful. I'd love to find this species in the US. but these guys don't even know the name of it.
You would turn it into a sculpture that would be stupid. I'd make beautiful wood tables, conference tables, and sell them for thousands of dollars. Each A beautiful wood conference table today is worth anywhere from 15 to $20000. And that tree trunk is big enough and that would is cutting really nice. I mean, that's good.
Money isn’t everything dumbass… but go ahead, chase it…. Spend your entire life seeking that next big payout. You can’t take any of it with you when you die.
Love the strict safety code. No hard hats, no heavy work gloves, no eye protection no steel tipped work boots. They probably have a iron clad work disability policy. Yep when a worker gets a arm cut off they give him a cup to beg for money.
watching these huge pieces of wood being cut is all well and good but unless you see what the pieces are eventually turned into you can't get the total picture of why they were cut in the first place. I'm sure the tree huggers in the world just cringe when they see these types of videos but it might take some of the bite out of their barking(no pun intended) if they saw the final product. I know I'd love to see what these pieces eventually become.
I live in the Pacific Northwest and his big logs wash up on the beach and that’s what helps protect from Beach erosion right now the beaches are covered in wood from the heavy rains
All of you people complaining about cutting trees: Look more closely. That tree has been dead a LONG time. There is no bark on it and the very outside is starting to rot. They are using wood that would be left to rot otherwise.
logs are run thru a debarker before milling or bark is removed by hand so the log can cure.... This lumber has been sitting in a yard to air cure or dry before milling. Nice try though.
I know it is hard to reconcile the lack of worker safety with what we in developed countries know and practice. But not all countries are lucky to have prospered as we have. Safety was non-existant in the early days of tbe industrial revolution in tne US, too.
Only because we didn't know about it before the industrial revolution. It's been 170 years since then. No excuses. This is just companies being disgustingly cheap - even to the point of risking lives so outrageously. They could easily afford to provide helmets and boots, if nothing else.
