All of you people complaining about cutting trees: Look more closely. That tree has been dead a LONG time. There is no bark on it and the very outside is starting to rot. They are using wood that would be left to rot otherwise.

logs are run thru a debarker before milling or bark is removed by hand so the log can cure.... This lumber has been sitting in a yard to air cure or dry before milling. Nice try though.

watching these huge pieces of wood being cut is all well and good but unless you see what the pieces are eventually turned into you can't get the total picture of why they were cut in the first place. I'm sure the tree huggers in the world just cringe when they see these types of videos but it might take some of the bite out of their barking(no pun intended) if they saw the final product. I know I'd love to see what these pieces eventually become.

Not sure what people you are referring to, but, the skill of sawing a log to gain the most lumber from it, goes back at least 150+yrs. in N.A.
And in todays modern sawmills, technology decides the most effient cuts to extract the most usable lumber to be used, from home/aparment building, to kids furniture, to toothpicks and then there's lead pencils.

Have you guys noticed something in this video? They didn't measure or gauge tention on That band saw blade, they don't know how Tight it is how loose it is. That's very, very dangerous. They have a digital device that measures tention on that band saw blade, and they did not do that. That's messed up. I wouldn't get near that freaking machine. Yes, it's a band saw tension gauge. It cost about $488.
And you should never run a band saw like this. Like They show in the beginning of this video without checking the tension on that blade. amateurs , I want to know How long they've been doing it for? And I wonder when they're luck is going to run out
