This is awesome! Every beginner video I've seen, goes too fast, gives you the wrong information, lectures you about breathing.. She simply teaches you how to play, and addresses the issues we actually run into, like finger placement, and air leakage! I am so glad I found this channel!! Better than any one I found!

I just got a tin whistle because i figured it could be a simple instrument to learn for my bard character in dungeons and dragons. I have been playing music for the last 20 years. The squeak tip was already the most helpful. My friends, even when you are a seasoned musician you still must go back to basics. Never think you are too good for the basics. Mastering something means you understand the basics and can call upon them at any time.

Hi, and thank you for this valuable lesson!
I am from Serbia, I play our national type of flute called "frula" for about 8-9 years now, (not very active, though) and I am a self-learner. This lesson showed me several things I learned wrong, like holding the flute, and parts of the fingers we should close the holes with.
A lot of work for me now to correct these mistakes.
I can't wait to see what you show in the next lessons.
Thank you for your noble and generous effort on this channel.
    God bless you!

I bought a nickle C Feadog two weeks ago and love it. It has a mellow tone, is easy to play and never squeaks. It is a quality instrument for the nine dollars I paid for it on line. I received it in about three days here in the U.S.. For these lessons though, you need a soprano D whistle. The D Feadog is also an excellent choice. Trying to follow in another key is very frustrating. Collecting these things is addictive. I wouldn't advise starting with anything but a soprano D whistle.

Great tutorial, bought myself one of these purely for fun (i'm a bassist) and i have to say it's completely different from stringed instruments yet oddly entertaining

The "F" is technically an F#. Very instructional, thankfully I'm not an absolute beginner, but this is still educational. Thank you for creating and sharing these videos.

Thank you very much for the lessons funny enough I came here because of a Korean Drama where an actor plays a Tin Whistle to the Latvian pop song 'Million Roses'!! And besides me playing the Ukulele I'm looking to learn this lovely instrument, keep up the great work....

Thank you - so I take it that you are researching which whistles and books/cds to buy, and which YT channels of instruction are worth watching for maximum effect with a minimum expenditure of time - is that how you're "fixing"?

Hi my dream is to play along in the same musical as you one day in a tin whistle bonanza. I hope so. I'm in Australia and play around the fire and just love the whistle very much. I am a bit rough and give up. But it's your lessons that have me on the right track. Your teaching has helped and still does.

Hi Aniruddha - perhaps it's your whistle? Try soaking the fipple (top part) in warm soapy water (if it is tin). There may be an obstruction. Also try to blow gently - too much air flow can sometimes cause a shrill sound.

Hello I'm a newbie very happy tin whistle new owner for three cents of cheap cash! I absolutely never knew how much your teaching got me awake. Thankyou. Its so beutifull to play along with you. Its been good I'm pretty stressed out. So much great lessons changed my outlook. Love you very much but I am very shy. Gay. I want a man to teach me. Sad I know but that's how nature is! Now letsbwhatch the media capitalise and try and push for me to hate men and have tin whistle playing in there adds.
