    My parents just cancelled their Foxtel and switched to Hubbl - I think this is where the market is. Older customers wanting to ditch Foxtel - the integration of live channels from binge/kayo with FTA channels is the best part of Hubbl in my opinion. Even the channel numbers are the same as a Foxtel IQ box. So it’s an easy transition for people ditching Foxtel. It is the closest “Foxtel” experience you can get without having Foxtel. My parents are saving close to $100 a month by cancelling Foxtel and switching to Hubbl

    Personally, I think this might be the best thing for my elderly in-laws who predominantly watch free to air. They are not the most tech savvy folks, so limited choice would be best not to overwhelm them. Thanks for the review, I'll be picking one up for them.

    If it has prime video, that is the access for paramount plus on PS4 . So may be the same here 🤔

    • @AlexKidman
      @AlexKidman  2 місяці тому +1

      That may work -- I've not tested -- though I would imagine once Paramount+ is properly on the platform it would also be integrated into wider Hubbl search, where it might not be through Prime. Again, though, supposition on my part.

      Hubbl is not an 'apps machine', and never will be. Think of it as more as an 'apps aggregator', where you can see shows/movies from multiple apps and just view them without opening the individual apps. More apps are coming beyond the yet to be integrated Optus Sport/Paramount+/Stan apparently.

    I thought it was meant to have free to air over wifi apart of it

    • @AlexKidman
      @AlexKidman  4 місяці тому

      It does -- to the extent that's feasible. All of the free to air catchup apps have local retransmission as a feature, so you can access them that way -- but some content may be blacked out if they don't have online streaming rights for that content (mostly, to my understanding, some sports), whereas if you tuned in via an antenna, you'd be able to watch that content.

  • @ChrisJones-sw9il

    So u saying I don’t need to use an areal and I can stream free to air channels like all the 10 9 and 7 and all other channels just over the wifi the same as if I was using areal? Our areal is broken here this is what i need if it works like that?

    • @AlexKidman
      @AlexKidman  3 місяці тому

      It would be an option, though the same streaming channels can be accessed through cheaper devices like the Google Chromecast with Google TV or Android Fire TV sticks as well. One factor to be aware of here is that some (it's pretty limited these days, but not unheard of) tv broadcasts aren't covered by their streaming channel due to rights issues; this is most typically seen with sports.

    Hi mate, with the habbl set up can I watch like 9 go 7 mate ect with out a cable connected to tv to the wall to the outside antenna? Ps Love you reviews. Cheers Brett

    • @AlexKidman
      @AlexKidman  2 місяці тому +1

      Pretty much yes -- all the free to air channels offer a "live stream" version of their programming these days, though this is table stakes -- you can do the same thing with a Chromecast with Google TV, Amazon Fire TV stick, etc. The only caveat there is that a very small proportion of content (mostly sporting events) might not go on those live streams due to rights issues (the channels have the rights to broadcast TV, not internet broadcast in some situations).

    • @brett5728
      @brett5728 2 місяці тому

      Thanks mate, that’s great knowing I can get all the free to air channels with connection to a roof antenna. Just needed to know if once set up I can get all the free to air channels because I haven’t got an antenna cable in the wall of the spare room. Thank you again keep those great videos coming👍

    So I've just been gifted one of these and I'm trying to figure out how it differs from Google TV (I don't have chromecast) because besides the stacking subscriptions amd saving a bit of money I don't understand what it does the google TV that I ready doesn't do?

    • @AlexKidman
      @AlexKidman  4 місяці тому

      There's a few things -- it's a more controlled experience (no installing apps if that's a problem for the user) and the inclusion of a FTA antenna are the big ones. For many though, the Chromecast w/Google TV will cover their streaming needs nicely. I've written more about that here: alexreviewstech.com/which-smart-tv-set-top-box-should-i-buy-google-chromecast-vs-amazon-fire-tv-vs-apple-tv-vs-nvidia-shield-vs-fetch-mini/

    Hi I was wondering how if I would need any batteries for the remote and how would I open the back of the remote to store batteries because the remote isn’t working for me for the initial set up thanks!

    • @AlexKidman

    You can’t add a Bluetooth keyboard? It advertises that it has Bluetooth 🤔

    • @AlexKidman
      @AlexKidman  2 місяці тому

      Bluetooth is just a connection standard; it's up to the device to decide what it will communicate with. In this case it appears they've locked it down to only the remote control. I mean, I guess it might get jailbroken at some point if someone is so inclined, but I suspect that would probably be more in an attempt to crack into subscriptions more than to get bluetooth keyboards working, if that were to happen.

    Hubbl or Chromecast? Which is best?

    • @AlexKidman
      @AlexKidman  5 місяців тому

      Slightly different markets -- as I cover in the video -- so if you needed free to air reception then the Chromecast wouldn't suit; for general streaming I'd say the Chromecast was the better option (or at least the newer Chromecast w/remote; the older models are serving a different market again!)
