  • The 1965 Chevy C20 Barn Find Rescue. We follow up on a tip about an old farm truck that has been sitting for 40 years! This C20 Farm Find was Chevrolet's 3/4-ton workhorse in 1965. A lumber company parked this beauty when it closed up shop in 1980. The remote, 100-plus acre property is loaded with junk. Tractors, dump trucks, a 1960 Ford pickup, and many other hidden gems. We bought the truck and Keith Lively hauled his own tractor and bush hog into the property to cut a road large enough for Junkyard Life to haul the old truck out.
    What will we do with it next? Suggestions welcome in the comments. I'd like to see the straight six, 4-speed put back in working order. Only 103k miles. Plenty of potential for the 8-foot bed to do more work. It is mostly rust-free, except for the rot in the hood and tail gate. Note, the wood in the bed is long gone. A sheet of tin is the bed flooring now.
    Those are not big problems. A fuel system, clutch, engine, tires and brakes are the only upgrades necessary to put this old girl back on the road.
    Stay tuned!
    Thanks for watching! Get to know the three-legged Junkyard dog that comprises Junkyard Life, Keith Lively, Ron Kidd and Jody Potter.

    Word of advice for someone watching that may not know these trucks have split rims so inspect them before adding air they can be dangerous. Oh and those hub caps are gold, extremely hard to come by. Great Video.

    Sad to see it parked in the elements where it will rust away in no time after being sheltered all these years. Hope someone gets it quick & stores it inside...and REALLY hope it stays original. There is probably still a build sheet in the seat springs. Cool truck.

      We been stewing on this comment. We will move her under a roof soon, then decide what's next. In the meantime, we're checking under the seat. Good ideas!

    We are restoring a 65 Chevy c20 too we just got the cab back all restored and tires on yesterday, we lowered the back 2 inches and the front is going to be lowered 1 inch. New bed wood and stainless steel bed runners, edelbrock fuel cell under the bed. Now it’s onto taking the engine out building it and restoring the front

    Awsome find. My uncle had some old trucks in his woods from the 60s till 2012 when they were all sold. We noticed a 50s chevy truck was missing about 2011 last seen 2007 complete truck sitting in a old barn since 1961. Who ever stole it had to of pulled it out with a ATV then down a old logging road maybe a mile no other way it could have been taken

    I would keep this trucks patina and just fix it up, make it a cool old truck. As far as the hood, id just put a black one on it I guess, or try and find a patina hood that matches the truck alright. Its really good to see an old car or truck get rescued and brought back to life.

    Amazing find! What baffles me is how the hood is rusted out and the rest of the body is totally fine! What do you think caused only the hood to rust out like that...?

    • @Junkyardlife
      @Junkyardlife  4 роки тому

      The way the hood curves under around the edges could hold moisture? Rust is like a cancer, it spreads. I've seen old batteries leak and eat metal but this was not what happened here.

    Is the engine a six? 230 or 292? A three speed is rare in a C/20!

    Hey Guy’s, there was an FC170 out there in the woods with you, and was wondering if the owner would get rid of that old truck also. Eight one five-719- two zero 66

      I believe that's a big Ford Cab Over.
      Blue, 1960s to 1970s-ish. In video here:?

    Why do you keep saying 40 years if it's got a 1990 tag on it that's 30 years

    • @Junkyardlife
      @Junkyardlife  4 роки тому

      Story is that the owners kept paying for stuff long after they quit using it. Tags, etc. Like keeping the power on in an old house you haven't lived in for 10+ years. Some people do strange things. I don't think this things been driven 30 miles in last 40 years. We'll check the date code on the tires.
