haha, recently I've seen some of these discreet wrappers being used in art Journaling. It was fun and energizing to see the pages done by friends and be open and laugh and joke about this whole woman adventure. xo
We need to release the taboos and shame of menstruation and recognise that menstruation isn't the same as other bodily fluids, as some people in the comments are trying to argue. Seminal Fluid, pee, faces etc are not cycler, waxing and waning as the moon does. I think this needs to be understood and differentiated. The power of a women's menstruation was once understood (and still is by a few). Tribes held it in high regard and knew that when a women bled she also had insight and her powers of intuition were much sharper. The shame needs addressing so that this wisdom can be restored.
Can anyone watching this think of: An aspect of any genitalia that isn't stigmatized out of day to day conversations especially with the opposite sex? Any situation of any visible leakage of any bodily fluid that wouldn't be embarrassing? Any time you've seen piss colored fluid in a nappy advert? It's an interesting discussion but why hijack it for on particular bodily fluid?
There's a bigger stigma associated with periods than any other bodily fluid. www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/features/we-need-to-talk-about-periods-9638267.html
Good point but I think there's more shame surrounding periods than other bodily functions- for instance, people aren't encouraged to hide the fact that they use loo roll. I think women are encouraged to feel embarrassed about the fact that they have periods at all and this is harmful- periods are an everyday part of life for nearly half the population and we should be able to talk frankly about them when necessary.
Ellen Murray Thinking back to how I used to act around girls hand bags at school I think your probably right. I guess there is also a problem because periods last longer than other bodily functions, long enough that people need to do stuff while they are going on. It's possible that I made my mind up then watched the video.
How does this discussion advance the goals of Feminism? If Feminism is attempting to liberate women and achieve equal social standing to men how does "unshaming" menstruation going to do that? This is ridiculous and pointless.
Bob Joe so you think that anything that doesn’t advance the goals of feminism is ridiculous and pointless? It’s a bit of a weird viewpoint (I mean, cake probably doesn’t advance the goals of feminism, but I still like it) but kind of cool nonetheless! Thanks for being so committed to feminism.
You are AMAZING!!!!!!
Really loved it!!

Or we could point out the fact that periods are just as "shamed" as seminal fluid, pee, feces, blood, or any other bodily fluid.
