Dear Cas, Please don't use red-dyed hummingbird nectar because it can be harmful. Most feeders have red on them to attract the hummers. You can buy clear or make your own: Combine a ratio of 4 parts water to 1 part table sugar. (Never use honey, molasses, or artificial sweeteners or dyes). Bring the water to a boil to break down the sugar completely. Once the mixture is cool, fill the feeders. Refrigerate what you don’t use between fillings.
@@minimaladjacent - How often should I empty and clean the feeder? The National Audubon Society recommends: ANSWER: In hot weather, the feeder should be emptied and cleaned twice per week. In cooler weather, once per week is enough. If your hummingbirds empty the feeder with greater frequency, clean it every time it’s empty. Cleaning with hot tap water works fine, or use a weak vinegar solution. Avoid using dish soaps, as this can leave harmful residue in the feeder.
Boiling sugar water in the microwave has 2 downsides...it boils over easily and makes a sticky mess & moving a hot glass is tricky ...An easier way to make hummingbird nectar is to fill a quart/ glass jar about 1/4 full of sugar then top with boiling water and stir... especially easy if you have a kettle that boils water...I can make 4 at a time and leave them to cool out of the way... also...tap your feeders often to remove bubbles and let more sugar water drop... and if your water turns cloudy it needs to be changed
Can we give parchment paper an honourable mention? I never heard of it until a few years back and now ALL my baking sheets and pans are virtually clean as they come out of the oven, It saves SO much time and energy.
For real! "You're not as impressed as I am" she says, while my eyes are glued to the screen with a grin on my face. Hadn't heard of that before, and it's brilliant! :D
When I had 3 kids in the house, I color coded their hangers! Pink for oldest, turquoise for middle, purple for youngest, white for me, black for husband. I would hang as I took out of the dryer, then the kids could come and grab their hangers and put away their clothes by themselves!
The automatic nightlights…cats realized they could turn them on all by themselves and now we have Zoomies in the middle of the night and not just at breakfast (when they race us to the kitchen). The collapsible pail…I was more impressed with how she closed it back up than I was about the bucket itself. 😂😂

We LOVE our coded lock. Each kid has their own code. We get notifications on when the door is unlocked and locked so we know when our older homes get home from school or a friends etc. we can set codes to expire in 24 hours (or whatever time) to share with contractors/cleaners. Amazing!
We had one but we live pretty far north and I always worried the cold would freeze it and I would be stranded. Guess what?! YES. That is exactly what happened. My husband ripped it out and we very thankfully use keys and fumble around and run back and forth with the age old 'where are my keys?, do you have your keys? Oh! We should give so and so a key' etc. But at least then I know if I'm stranded it's my own fault;)
Cas I get so tickled when you showed these new hacks. You make your audience feel at home. I'm so sorry for your loss. My grandmother was awesome. She was my rock!
So what the first comment meant was that you need food on them to use them. Don’t just leave them in there with no food on them for the next time you use the air fryer because usually you forget they are in there and then hit preheat and it can start a fire. They work great. I love them! But you just need to only put them in the air fryer when you are about to put food on them…..and when the food is done cooking, be sure to throw the liner away (if not a reusable one). And don't put a new empty one in until you are ready to cook more food again. Hope that made sense.😂
Before cell phones and doors with key core locks, I know of some parents who used to have latchkey kids that either kept loosing the house key or the parents didn't want them to loose the house key when they were at school, so the parents used to have the house key on their (large) dog's collar! Lol After all, the large dog wouldn't let anyone else get that close to the dog in his own backyard to GET the key, and then the kids didn't have to worry about where it was during the day!!! ;)
I absolutely adore you and your videos. My grandmother passed tonight, and your joy and excitement over the tiniest things brought me joy on a dark day. Thank you and keep up the good work. And no, you're definitely not ugly by any means. I really hope you don't believe that at all
First of all, the out-takes were hilarious. Secondly, I would SO go "carp rescuing" with you, Cas! That would be amazing to do in your own backyard. Lastly, it might stink, but the rotting carcasses of the fish are actually really good fertilizer for your trees & plant life.
For your outdoor kitty…a hack to keep ants away from their food! Go to DT, grab a large plastic dog bowl, fill it 1/4-1/3 w/water..then fill your cat bowl with her food and place in center of dog bowl w/water. Ants can not cross the water and no more kitty food, or dog food getting swarmed with ants!💕
I use Dawn Powerwash. I spray it on my shower walls and leave it to do it’s thing for 30 minutes and then come back and use my dish wand that has Dawn soap in it and just scrub away. I find soap scum melts like butter. And then just rinse. But be careful if it gets on the tub floor can be slippery.
Yeah, it does. But it contains petroleum, which I get more & more sensitive to as the years go on. So if it irritates my nose & lungs, I can only imagine how it affects birds & other pets. When I had a shower, I used Calgon water softener (found next to bleach & borax) to clean. Has the lightest, cleanest, most pleasant smell ever.
Yes, be VERY careful with ANY soft soap cleaners in the tub/shower. My friends and family(young and old from 16 to 68) have slipped in the tub after they were cleaned with "dish soaps". I was guilty of one of those cleanings. Same goes for use of chlorine bleach. It is slippery stuff...literally!!! Just be careful!

My cat kept tipping over that fountain. I now have an Elfin fountain-easier to clean and works semi-similar in keeping water clean. And Justin hasn’t tipped it over yet.
Cas, I love you! You're so funny that I forget to cry over my frustration from endless clutter 😂 Thank you so much for making these inspirational videos! You are heaven-sent!! 🙏🏼
great ideas. Just wanted to share this info....The Cornell Lab of Ornithology strongly recommends against using red dye in feeders: "There is no research that proves red dye is safe for hummingbirds, and very compelling anecdotal information from experienced, licensed rehabbers that hummers who have been fed dyed food have higher mortality and suffer tumors of the bill and liver."
The sugar is good for them. It supplements the nectar they get from flowers. Make your own nectar: 1/4 cup sugar per 1 cup water. Boil water, stir in sugar til dissolved. Let cool
I discovered an amazing window washing hack: I usually clean my windows (at least some of them, because it seemed easier) with a squeegee using a product called Squeegee Off. When doing spring cleaning this year, I discovered I could just dip my regular old terry cloth washcloth in the bucket, wash the window, and them dry it with a regular old terry cloth washcloth! It worked great: It was super fast and left no streaks whatever. I did my double patio doors in about 2 minutes!
I do it this way too except i use a sponge. I use a very tiny amount of soap on the sponge and wash the window then dry. They sparkle. No equipment needed. Usually i don’t even use a bucket. I just wet the sponge in the sink once per window. Works fantastic.
You are fun to watch, I am a nurse and remember coming across a book at a clients home called "How to simplify your life" I new my father would love it! (I was young... not alot of responsibilty) things like bird feeders, house plants, high maintance gardens, too many pets...just add more work more money and more stress.
Cas your energy level is goals !! I seriously love you and all your content. It’s nice to get a few laughs and feel good about everyday life and take a break from heavy issues we all face !!❤❤❤
I love the side of the knife smash method for garlic, but I have to say the BEST option is not having to peel garlic at all. Which is why I like to buy the pre-peeled garlic from Costco. I put it all in the freezer, only taking out what I need. It's so easy to slice when it's frozen too!
For cleaning my air fryer, I just recently got a wok brush, which has a bunch of thin wooden bristles. It's much studier than the nylon cleaning brushes, but won't scrape off non stick coating like metal scrapers. I'm really loving it
You are not ugly at ALL and I'm sorry that you lost your Grandmother. I know the ADHD thing so well and most of my family runs on invisible steam! It's so hard to stay focused and organized but crafting and typing help. All these tips are so useful and I'll need to replay this and other videos of yours to recall all these wonders. Thank you!!
The hack about spraying yr plants with a weakened dish soap solution? Having grown up on a farm, some smart apples in the family knew this way back or figured it out from an older product IDK like borax or something, but since we had lots and LOTS of crops but not like for industrial size machinery .. we had several pump sprayers that were on backpacks and we'd use those for our large veggie / flower patches. Also, the comb you're using on yr cats is called by what it does, an undercoat rake. 😀👍 Just found yr channel today and already a fan. Thanks! Aszneth
It's always the little things that hold a big improvement. It's about minimizing the friction in your life(yes I saw your video on that). I need that collapsible bucket. When bought my air-fryer I got the baskets along with it. So worth it. Cas, I'm dreaming of a RoboRock myself.

@@Clutterbug My indoor-outdoor cats refuse to use the litterbox too, they just prefer going outside so much better. (although if I were to lock them inside for a day, they would use it thankfully).
There are so many kinds of litter now, a lot of cats won’t use just any. Also, the box has to be larger than you might think.
I truly love your channel. You tell the real truth. You have helped me so much!! I put off dirty chores too long. Now I stay on top of chores much better, using your tips and tricks. You are beautiful to me!!!!
I love your colapsable bucket enthusiasm!
They have some marketed for camping, that are also cutting bords and 5 other things while still being a colapsable bucket
My cat kept tipping over that fountain. I now have an Elfin fountain-easier to clean and works semi-similar in keeping water clean. And Justin hasn’t tipped it over yet.
I knew about the first 2 items.
My husband bought me a few pairs of those silicone oven gloves.
Relax, I'm impressed.
Cas, I love you! You're so funny that I forget to cry over my frustration from endless clutter 😂 Thank you so much for making these inspirational videos! You are heaven-sent!! 🙏🏼
Totally IMPRESSED from the beginning! Love that you're not only informative but so fun! ❤🎉 The garlic hack TOTALLY is life changing 😊
Hey Cas, so I have to say it…Carpe diem girl…Carpe diem!😊💕
I see what you did there!! Lol
@@juanitaglenn9042 😊
great ideas.
I came on here to say this!
Cutting board covers and garlic tip. Amazeballs! 😂
You are fun to watch, I am a nurse and remember coming across a book at a clients home called "How to simplify your life" I new my father would love it! (I was young... not alot of responsibilty) things like bird feeders, house plants, high maintance gardens, too many pets...just add more work more money and more stress.
I just started watching this but your excitement for the garlic is killing me. So funny. You are like an infomercial. In the best way! ❤❤❤
Cas your energy level is goals !! I seriously love you and all your content. It’s nice to get a few laughs and feel good about everyday life and take a break from heavy issues we all face !!❤❤❤
My mom's 2nd husband, Lloyd, passed, and he was buried when Hurricane Floyd came through. That's how I remember when he passed, lol.
I love the side of the knife smash method for garlic, but I have to say the BEST option is not having to peel garlic at all. Which is why I like to buy the pre-peeled garlic from Costco. I put it all in the freezer, only taking out what I need. It's so easy to slice when it's frozen too!
Love this video. One of your best. So very sorry you lost your grandmother.
For cleaning my air fryer, I just recently got a wok brush, which has a bunch of thin wooden bristles. It's much studier than the nylon cleaning brushes, but won't scrape off non stick coating like metal scrapers. I'm really loving it
Sorry about your grandma passing. I lost my last grandparent last year and it’s so ya it’s tuff for sure.
You are so much fun! Also, you are NOT really ugly. You are an hilarious bright light full of helpful information!!
You have just the best sense of humor! I love watching you and your great ideas because I laugh right along with you the whole time 😅
Only thing about the key is to make sure you don't forget to replace the battery when needed. Amazed by some of these ideas. Thank you!
I love your enthusiasm and your made up words.
Thank you!!
The organization tool/tray inside the door where the collapsible bucket was - now that caught my attention!

🌸🌺🌸Emily not old enough to be impressed 😂😂😂
I've been keeping hangers in my laundry room the past couple months and it really helps!
Ok the bucket impressed the heck out of me. 😂
I have one!
😀👍
Just found yr channel today and already a fan.
Thanks!

It's always the little things that hold a big improvement. It's about minimizing the friction in your life(yes I saw your video on that). I need that collapsible bucket. When bought my air-fryer I got the baskets along with it. So worth it.
Cas, I'm dreaming of a RoboRock myself.
