As I mentioned in one of your past videos we saw on "House Hunters International" that quite often the homes are stripped of their kitchens when sold. Seem's a little strange to us but it does let you create a beautiful one just like you did! Love it, Debbie and Stign. Thanks for the tour.
Oh yes, it's very common here in Italy and I believe a couple of other countries as well. Even if its just a rental it may not have a kitchen. I have a friend here who just rents and here house had no kitchen so she had a kitchen installed and said she will definitely take it with her if she ever moves. Crazy! I reckon the kitchen is the most personal room, where you spend most of the time.. It reflects the owners' taste, needs.. Therefore it should always be taken with you when you move

I'm like, why would I want to have something else to move? 😜 But it's what they do here. We were kind of glad there was no kitchen because then we could design one the way we wanted. Thank you, we really love the cabinet lighting as well.

Looking great! The green is perfect. The green in our house is sage to match the sagebrush around us, so I get where you're coming from! Interesting that IKEA is the more expensive option there.

I love your kitchen. It truly is the heart of your home. You fell in love with your stone sink which inspired the design you chose for your kitchen.The shade of green paint color is perfect, and really brings out the rustic and cozy vibe in your kitchen and dining area.
I miss the corner cabinets that we had in our Florida home that we built, that swung out like yours do. For not speaking Italian that well Stijn was able to be the project manager which cut that expense out of your design budget for your kitchen renovation. Good job you two!!

Beautiful space and colors. Looks very calming and bright. I love it. And YES I’m very jealous of that corner near the sink. Great idea for sure. Will keep that door in mind next time I encounter a challenging kitchen corner like that. Nice to know also that local craftsmanship is more affordable than IKEA. Local is almost always better. Hello lovelies! What a gorgeous kitchen! Great choice of materials (particularly that awesome sink! )and lovely colours. I knew about the kitchen being taken away as it’s a legal process in Italy and even France as well. Most home owners will take out the entire kitchen unless you negotiate for them to leave it in or parts of it. I negotiated the kitchen sink, small refrigerator and a couple of other items to be left so that we could move straight in then make changes in our own time. We have bought cabinets, sight unseen (just like the house 😂) how could we go wrong? 😁🤪😂😂😂 can’t wait to see what we will end up with! Not as glamorous as yours, I’m sure! Negotiating the kitchen would have been great except the house had been empty for almost 3 years and the kitchen was long gone! 😂 The owners did leave us some pieces of furniture so that was helpful until we could shop around and find what we wanted. Can't wait to see your transformation Marisa, love all your inspirations that you shared in your video. 💞🇮🇹

We used a custom shop called Salime4Cucina in the town of Chiusi, which is actually in neighboring Tuscany. They make them right there on their property!
Just found your channel! We had a very interesting and similar experience buying in Abruzzo. Closed in July this year. I saw your road bike in your office. How is the cycling in Umbria? Are you getting out much on the bike with the local clubs? Umbria is beautiful and we really vacillated between there and Abruzzo. Your house is beaituful!

I love your kitchen, you guys did a great job. I had a kitchen made in Germany once and it had the same type of features, I remember on of the cabnites pull out all the way out from the wall and you would have access from both sides and it has like 4 shelves , it was pretty cool, it had a corner shelving like yours, but with a lazy Suzie that swiveled in either direction. Anyway, I love watching what you guys are doing with the house. Are you guys going to have an Airbnb section at all, is there another room access to a private room or anything like that for the future?

Generally speaking renovating a home here is cheaper but it all depends on the finishes etc. The biggest difference exists in the hourly rates for professionals.

I believe it was 13,000 euros. That also included the dishwasher, fridge and sink as well as installation and taxes.
Not a fan of the olive green but if you like it that’s all that matters.
It's not everyone's choice but it does go well with the forest that surrounds us💞🇮🇹
We are renovating in Italy currently and chose Travertine countertops - hoping that wasn't a mistake - have you been happy with yours? Also, still trying to figure out the best system for recycling/organico bins - can you share your organization for this?
I love my travertine counters! We have a compost bin for our organics, that works well for us.
Adorable kitchen! How do you like the travertine overtime? Do you have to be careful with it? I’ve also wondered how people in Italy treat their marble because here in the United States, people won’t even buy it because it etches, stains, and chips. I’m considering it though. Maybe I’ll consider travertine. Wishing you lots of love and success in Italy!
Thank you! I'm loving the travertine so far. Apparently you do have to treat it, and ours was before it was installed. It's my understanding we'll have to have it treated again, I think in a couple of years. But I'm loving it!
