  • Reducing outside noise from traffic, barking dogs, neighbors, and the occasional lawn mower can be challenging when you have a home studio. This is what Indow specializes in. Treating your space with the proper acoustic treatment is important, but windows are usually overlooked. So what do you do when your goal is to keep outside noise out while keeping your music in so that your neighbors don't complain about you making too much noise? Well, I found the perfect solution in the form on Acoustic Grade Window Inserts from a company called Indow and I wanted to share my experiences with you as well as review the Indow Window Inserts that I'm now using.

Ooo this is interesting. I live maybe 50-80 feet away from a major highway, so I can literally see it from the window in my home studio. It's never really been a problem per se, even when recording vocals (compared to central air), the only issue is when its rush hour or when people are honking. That being said, it would be nice to reduce the noise.

After not getting a call back after 2 tries, we are going to do the plexiglass ourselves. They finally called, after publicly shaming them for not returning our calls and said it would take 4 months. Really? Never mind! They also only offer 1/4 inch, which will not work as well as a 3/8. You would think they would offer a variety of widths. It would have cost $1800 vs $400 to $600 to do it ourselves.

This is such a life saver. I don't hear w thing outside anymore. Unless I take my dog out otherwise its not an every waking moment thing issue anymore for me. Box fans are pretty affordable. Have you been able to test that (or could you) by having a loud car system perhaps parked in your driveway playing rap or pop/edm? The moment he said, "...I feel depressed, I know it can sound dramatic but - *shurbs shoulders* it's how I feel" not only did he show his aware, and emotionally strong but definitely got my support via subs and likes. For all it's worth.

Friend you should film this video again exactly but with LED light gloves on your hands and in a dark room. That would be cool to see the light show

It seems like they should have provided something along the lines of a window insert shoehorn to get that in quicker.

So you can never open your window again? Or at least not without having to uninstall the insert and then go through the install process again>

You can easily remove the inserts to then open your windows. The great thing is you still get natural light coming in and the huge sound reduction.

Yeah but the open window equals noise. Maybe get two pieces half size and install 2, top and bottom. Have a wood piece in the middle. That way when you can remove the bottom piece and open the window while still having some sound reduction. It's always best to look at solutions rather than problems.

Light is more important than people realize. I heard a statistic one time of how the suicide rate in Alaska was far higher than anywhere else in the US. 6 months of darkness will do that.
