Just received my inserts, Totally worth it. Considerable noise reduction, I live on a very busy street. Some cars I no longer hear, other vehicles are muted. Maybe a 50-70% noise reduction. Has improved the Livability of my home.
If only there were a money back guarantee at least for the first order I would try them. The cost is too high to try them and find out they don’t work.
Hi, Nanette. Thank you for your questions. Production turnaround time is at about 2.5-3 weeks. We are up and running on a regular schedule, but we are getting into our busiest season, so give us a call at (503) 284-2260 so we can get a free estimate to you and started on your order soon!
While the inserts are designed to be lightweight and easy to remove/handle, we do get this question from time to time. We do not have a way to do what you say per se, as the compression seal our inserts create is the key to both energy savings and noise reduction. In some situations, we have provided options with a mullion bar that separates the window opening for use with multiple inserts. In this situation, only one smaller insert would need to be removed to ventilate. This could be an option for you. Feel free to reach out for more details: comfort@indowwindows.com or 503.284.2260.
If there is no room for installation inside the home, can these be installed in the exterior? If so, what kind of temperatures and climate can they withstand and for how long?
Hello, thanks engaging with us. Indow window inserts are interior storm windows made to press into your existing window frame. You can speak to an Indow representative about the options for installing Indow inserts into a shallow window frame. Feel free to reach out for more details: comfort@indowwindows.com or 503.284.2260.
Our acoustic inserts may be just the thing for your situation. We have had many happy customers who have looked to us to solve such train noise issues. As all sound situations are different, our fit specialists are prepared to assess your situation, ensure compatibility, and discuss the performance you should expect. Availability for local installers depends on your particular area. Feel free to give us a call at (503) 284-2260 or email comfort@indowwindows.com to get connected for a free quote.
Great question! The air gap that is created when an Indow insert is in place actually helps against condensation! Take a look at this page on the Indow website detailing condensation and how to address it: indowwindows.com/resources/blog/solve-condensation-on-windows/

Hi. This is a great question. In many cases, Indow inserts are compatible with blinds. If you decide to place the Indow insert behind the blinds (meaning between the blinds and the window), we will need at least 1'' of flat, unobstructed space for the insert to fit properly. If you place the insert in front of the blinds, we will need just 5/8'' of flat, unobstructed space. Give us a call at (503) 284-2260 so we can verify compatibility with your blinds!
I have this installed at home for 3 months. I realized that it does not help a lot on blocking traffic sound especially at night. The edge is made by rubber so I don't know if there is anything to do with the temperature.
We are sorry to hear that you are not experiencing the sound reduction as expected. While the seal created by our silicone surrounds are not affected by temperature changes as you suggest, we are happy to troubleshoot your situation to ensure that we are maximizing the sound reduction properties of your inserts. All sound situations are unique and sometime require additional soundproofing measures to fully deal with a noise situation. Feel free to reach out to us for assistance: comfort@indowwindows.com or 503.284.2260.
You're located in Oregon. Do you have service on the East Coast? How does this work? Do you do in-home estimate or do we measure windows ourselves and order online?
We indeed serve customers directly in the US and Canada through our guarantee-backed self measure program. We can walk you through the tape measurements necessary or send out a laser measuring kit. From these measurements, we make the custom inserts and then send them to you. They are designed to be easy to install without the need for hardware. We'd love to get you connected with one of our fit specialists. Feel free to contact us at comfort@indowwindows.com or 503.284.2260.
Our inserts weigh between 1 and 1.5 lbs per square foot, depending on the grade of insert. For a 3'x4' window, that would be 12 to 18 lbs. This lightweight design allows most to lift and handle our inserts with relative ease.
How well would these work reduce the amount of noise outside from sound that is generated inside? (I live with three musicians.) We already have replacement windows that are triple glazed.
Hi, Kelly. Thank you for connecting with Indow. Your Indow representative will be able to speak with you about your windows and how they can help reduce inside noise through your windows. They can also provide you with a free estimate for the project. Give us a call at (503) 284-2260 so we can connect you!
Hi Matt, currently we only ship Indow inserts to the United States and Canada. We are excited at the prospect of expanding across the globe and will provide updates as they are available.
Hi, you are correct in that your insert would occupy the interior of your window frame. However, our inserts are easy to remove and reinstallation is a simple process as well.
Hi. Thank you for connecting with Indow. Hi, daily use is possible though for larger windows it may be tricky due to size and weight concerns as larger inserts can be rather heavy and may require another person to assist with removal and reinstallation. However, as long as the insert is properly stored and cared for, they are highly durable and will hold up to frequent use.
Thanks for engaging with us. Often when cost comparisons are made, some of the true costs are overlooked. Here is a cost comparison that takes issues such as labor costs into effect: indowwindows.com/resources/storm-windows-guide/replacement/ I will also mention that many of our customers get inserts for newly installed windows to increase the comfort and quiet in their home. A new, low cost single pane window (which is often the prices comparers quote) provides similar R-value to the single pane window it replaces. Using our inserts with the existing window provides 94% of the energy efficiency of a double paned window at less cost, especially when considering our inserts are easily self-installed.
@@Indowwindows i appreciate the reply. Here’s my issue. I’m not denying this works well. It’s made of acrylic i can get a 48 x 96 1/8 sheet of acrylic from a local hardware store for around $140 and make my own for much cheaper. There’s nothing proprietary about acrylic unless you guys do something that is different that is fair. Eventually you have to replace your windows after 30 years of use that’s my opinion especially if no maintenance. I bought the more expensive laminated window for $850 plus installation. Not sure how much the normal double pane would be. The standard indow would be $450, $30/ sf. The top of the line indow would be $645. I don’t know for a sheet of acrylic it’s pretty expensive. However, if you’re not looking to replace your window and you’re looking for additional noise control this works and it would be worth the peace of mind.
They only use 1/4 inch plexiglass, which is not thick enough. They also take 16 weeks to arrive at your home. They also don’t return phone calls, only emails & texts - so if you don’t have a cell phone or computer, they don’t communicate with you. Very sad!
Thanks for engaging. Our design, and choice of materials, comes from an active R&D effort during our 11 years in business. The thickness and grade of our acrylic is carefully selected for performance, weight, and feasibility. Our customer service team actively engages on all platforms, including active phone service. While we are sorry you feel we have not been responsive on the phone, our track record over the years demonstrates our commitment to communication to our customers using any method they choose. We certainly appreciate all feedback and will use your engagement here to continue this commitment to service and thorough communication.
Way too expensive for what you are getting. Go buy your own acrylic and make them yourself. You can even get thicker acrylic and still save $$$$$. Very easy to do this yourself.
We love and encourage DIY solutions for insulating windows, especially in the interest of saving $$$, though we're always happy to assist if you're looking for a complete, simple-to-install solution. Our Fit Specialists can give a free estimate including all discounts we're offering and can give you an idea of what savings you can expect on your energy bills.

Hello, why the setup with double pane reduces less than single pane ? isnt double pane glass more insulated ?
Was is the average turn-around time for the inserts? Is the current pandemic impacting production and shipping?
Thanks for your time.

can your product be used for balcony doors too and still have the sliding door be functional? thanks!
Due the extended egress considerations, our inserts are not made for use with doors of any kind.
