The woman he’s singing about is blind and a sculptor. It’s really a beautiful story. You really need to see the video that goes with the song.
I think you mean that she was a *sculptor*.
Kelly Brown Yeah, it was sounding like Pygmalion for a minute there...
You need to see the video to get the story is about
I had never watched the video.
I don't know why.
Its great.
I was saying that from the beginning. They need to watch the actual video.
The COMMODORES were big in the late 70's and Lionel Ritchie was their lead singer. You would really groove to their song BRICK HOUSE.
Fred Fletcher YES!!
Brick House is a must!
My favorite COMMODORES song was, 3 Time a Lady.
Ooof yes!
How did I live 37 years on this earth and make it to the year of our Lord 2020 and not know Lionel was the lead in The Commodores?!?!
*crazy phenomenon, but most of us here have heard these songs a thousand times over the years, but watching you guys experience the songs for the first time somehow makes the song new again for us, or appreciate it in a new light.
Anyway, as weird as it sounds, THANK YOU guys for your channel/work of literally *just listening to new music! Your wonder and willingness to do this brings light, love, and joy to the world! Stay curious! ❤️
“Pride” by U2 😍🥰
Well said ♥️
Agreed and you took my exact thoughts about these two and typed them out. Such a blessing these young men.
So very true! The twins are bringing new life and interest to classic songs from back in the day!
He was in the group The Commodores. Listen to "Easy Like Sunday Morning." You won't regret it.
When Tim said it sounds like elevator music, I almost choked on my drink laughing!! We all know we’ve heard this in the elevator a time or two! 🤣🤣
It became elevator music because it was so popular and elevating although emotionally heart-rending.
Listen to ALL NIGHT LONG... you will be dancing in no time!!!
Loved loved loved dancing to that song. "Everyone dancing their troubles away"...
@Linda Hardy totally! All Night Long...is one of a few songs that were super popular in the early 80s that I just will never be sick of and it always makes the day a little better. The video is so great too! I was actually glad that they didn’t watch the official video version of this song, with the blind woman and the bust sculpture of him. It’s just too cheesy IMO.
Jenny C
I have to agree to all of that. All Night Long is still one of my favorite tunes. It makes me want to jump up and dance... and even if I can’t, it makes me happy just listening.
Another vote for "All Night Long"
YESSSS!!
Lionel Richie is well known for having some of the best heavy love songs of all time. This man has a long string of hit after hit. Check out *ALL NIGHT LONG.*
Otis Redding - Dock of the Bay. The best soul singer of all time.
Yes please
They already do this song
@@Klgray7373 This post was done before they did the song
My hubby's favorite song. He talks about Dock of the Bay every time we talk about music.🥰
Omg that song takes me way back, i was a young kid but very good memories
Gladys knight and The Pips...Midnight train To Georgia....
Another vote for "Midnight Train to Georgia"
liz K yesssss love that song!!!
Oh, yes!!! Awesome suggestion!!!
Absolutely a must!!!!! You will LOVE it!!!
"Endless Love" duet with him and Diana Ross. And "Say You Say Me" won him an Oscar
Oh, Say You Say Me beautiful ❤
Grammy not oscar
Endless love was my wedding song
Theresa Di Scipio Verified on the Oscar website and he did win for Say You Say Me since I remember watching it.
@@daciadurham4468 I stand corrected .. he indeed won an oscar for this song...my apologies
"Let's hear if he (Lionel Ritchie) can sing" - that had me chuckling.
The song played at every prom and wedding in the 80s. 🙂
Oh his voice... I love it. Lady is another great one. Any of his songs really.
Did he do "Lady" too? I thought that was Kenny Roger's. I gotta look that one up if he did it too ♡
I’m pretty sure Kenny sang lady but Lionel Ritchie wrote it.
He did it too. Kenny sang it but it quickly became a duet with those two. If you get a chance to hear Lionel tell the story it’s really cool. I’m sure it’s online somewhere.
I think you're thinking Stuck on You, because I made that same exact mistake. Lol
Lionel Richie was best of friends with Kenny Rogers. Check out “Lady”
Yes! I actually like Kenny's version of Lady better, and I'm not much of a country fan
Penny lover!!!
Thank you. You bring joy to me. Being evacuated and not knowing if our house will be still standing and if it is to be loot free. Lots of stress. Wildfires in Oregon. California and Washington too. This brought me a little bit of joy.
@@dawnkimlinger2943 Praying for you!
Dawn Kimlinger keeping you in our thoughts during this difficult time
I’m still a fool for “All Night Long”. I don’t care what you say.
Jasmine Fox me too.
Me too!
Me three!
So good!!!!
Jasmine Fox I embarrass my kids any time All Night Long comes on in the car! Gotta dance and groove!!!
Love my Lionel Richie and some Commodores,!! Matter of fact my neighbor used to play the horn for the Commodores I hear him playing a lot it's very nice!!
Ok, young men, knock it off. Makin' a ol' lady cry all the time. Y'all have picked songs from different genres, and still managed to find many of my Dad's fav songs. This was one. He loved all kinds of music and made sure I did, too. I passed that mindset to my girls. I love y'all for being that way, too. Now play me some DMX so I can stop this bawling. 💜
For real!!! We need some DMX on the channel
@@nocapillary I've been suggesting some hardcore rap to the boys. Trying to get them thinking East Coast.
Yup, Party up in here by DMX is perfect and a fun song to dance 2!!!!
yes! some LL Cool J, Slick Rick, Big Pun, Prodigy, Fat Joe, De La Soul, Naughty by Nature.or some Queen Latifah

He's just cool. 😎💙
I just saw him last summer 2019, at a 3 day music festival.
Tons of great groups.
Lionel Richie's set was the only one that turned into a giant dance party. 😊
I tried to video Brick House and just mostly got people dancing by in front of me. Lol
Wow, I inherited a vinyl collection and have a Commodores album. I never knew he was even in that group and had to pull out the vinyl and there he is on the back with the rest. Thanks for that bit of info 👍
You should check out The Commodores “Still” , “Three times a lady” and definitely “Just to be close to you “ Try to react to the full long versions of these great songs. Lionel is a goat for real
The Stylistics- " Betcha by golly wow !"
One of my fave songs ever ever ever!!!
That's the first Group that I lived.

Twins I just have to tell you my friend of 44 years would love to call us up and sing “hello is it me you’re looking for” and right now when I heard this come on it touched my heart so deeply because he is battling stage 4 cancer and only has days to live and this song just brought it home.... unbelievable😢
So sorry about your friend 😩
Prayers to you and your friend🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
💗🙏
Peace to you and your friend.
Praying for comfort for your loved one.
This my favorite Lionel Richie song. The lyrics are so touching, loving and sentimental. I get choked up everytime. The longing for someone to love.
I love Lionel Ritchie he is a classic!! Great artist!
You NEED to hear
"Endless Love" by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross
Definitely Best song ever
*ANY Lionel Richie SONG* is top shelf love song. The 3 {male singer-songwriter} that make *THE BEST LOVE SONGS* are Lionel Richie, John Farnham and Ricky Martin {in that order, they'd make a excellent songwriting trio together for the attempt of the greatest love song of ALL time}. 👨💻🎶✍3️⃣👨🎤🥰
I was jamming and singing that this morning... my wife told me shut up
He’s a legend boys! Thank you!
“This solo sounds like elevator music. Bunch of people in the elevator bobbing their heads.” Omg. 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Billy Ocean's Carribean Queen was a favourite of mine around the same time.
Commodores - Brick House
3 times a lady, when he sang with the commodores
I Like All Night Long by Lionel. It's very fun and lifts your spirits.
Lionel Richie singer and song writer so very talented!
If you guys haven’t yet...react to Lionel Richie’s “Easy Like Sunday Morning”...I like your channel 😊....this song “Hello”....is NOT a great representation of his singing ability!!! He was with the Commodores 😆
Have to do Nightshift as well as Easy
"Easy Like a Sunday Morning" is definitely my favorite by him.
Love that song.
Hello is a great song!
Easy is such a great song.
Shame you didn’t watch the amazing video that goes with this amazing storytelling song, the smooth tones of Lionel Ritchie are timeless 🇬🇧❤️
I was thinking the same thing! I used to play this song on the jukebox every time at the steak joint my dad used to take me to 30-something years ago...gave me chills listening to it closely now
Me too, it’s nice for the boys to see the singer sing, IMO 🥰
I can't think of this song without thinking of Lionel Ritchie's video. I can see it clearly in my mind.
It was so beautiful with the blind sculptor...
They just didn’t know about the video:(((
Lionel Richie was one of the founders of the Commodores. Very famous! Pull up Brickhouse. This man is a legend.
Lionel Ritchie also had a big hit DANCING ON THE CEILING.
As an older guy watching you both, it's a revelation, I just love seeing you react to these songs that are classics from way back, but new to you, props men! ❤️🤘
As young entrepreneurs, I'm sure you both have very bright futures. Would you consider, somehow with your creative minds, to bring music programs back to our schools. Expanded programs that include the guitar, piano, etc. I heard one if you say before how bands depended so much on their instruments. Digital music has taken that away. God bless you both. Keep up the good work.
check out ps 22
Good idea... music teachers would love that!
That's such a great point and idea! You could be ambassadors for the arts!
With your respect for music, people & mentoring, this would be perfect & an amazing contribution to society. I'm just surprised someone hasn't snapped you up already. You must have loads of offers & the world is your oyster boys, it would be great to see music education & kids who don't usually get opportunities benefit 🎶❤️
Love this song and Lionel !
This song was a monster hit. Of course a billboard number one from a billboard number one album‘Can’t Slow Down’ just a timeless masterpiece
His voice is so smooth, beautiful song, a true classic
I used to listen to this when I was a little kid and I thought it was exactly how love was supposed to feel. Just the epitome of romantic feelings.
This was one of my picks!! He's an American Idol judge. Wonderful!
Lionel Richie is a legend! I went to see him in concert when he went solo! Awesome experience! As many have already said he was the lead singer of The Commodores which is one of my favorite groups! So much talent!!
Oh, Lionel? Lessee... check Commodores' "Brick House," "Easy," "Zoom," "Sail On," and "Still."
Zoom is the shiznit.
@@lynx70123 Yeah it is!
Lionel Ritchie is a musician who started out with the Commodores at Motown. He's written dozens of songs, many of them huge hits. He's written a lot of songs that country music singers like. He wrote many songs for the Commodores. He's from Tuskegee Alabama. Check out his CD Tuskegee. And a special he did with country singers which is also on UA-cam. I think you reacted to Lady by Kenny Rogers some time ago. Lionel Ritchie wrote Lady for Kenny Rogers. Lionel Ritchie along with Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Michael Jackson is a Musical Genious.
Love this song and Lionel Ritchie! Thanks for cheering up a dark, smoky California day.
Ugh. The feeling of that person you are absolutely smitten with who has no idea you’re alive. That’s this song. So good.
Lionel is the best but the best banger is “Still”. No one writes music like that anymore.
One of my all time FAVORITE songs!!!! Lionel Richie was the lead in the group the Commodores. You should also listen to Easy (Like Sunday Morning) by the Commodores
And they should listen to Zoom too.
YESSSSSSSSS! ZOOM IS IT!!!
I just commented on another saying I had no idea Lionel Ritchie was in the commodores. Had to pull out a vinyl album i had and there he is on the back with the rest of them 🤣 ya learn something new every day!
Brick House and Machine Gun are epic. The mighty mighty Commodores were amazing.
Zoom is my absolute favorite from Lionel Ritchie. That's saying a lot because he had some serious hits
Listen to his song “dancing on the ceiling”.
AGREED!!!
Lionel " Legendary Love Song Writer & Living Legacy of Love" Richie!!!👊🏾🙋🏾♀️👊🏾🤩
Why are you not watching the video? That's everything.
I hate the hello video. I was In High school when it came out. I loved the song and the video was a let down.
He was r and b and went to pop.
There was probably copyright issues. Sometimes their videos are blocked because of it.
I think some of the choices are copyright reasons. I've seen stuff posted that vanishes immediately, like they did a Florence + The Machine reaction and it vanished nearly immediately, I never got to watch it. Copyright is complicated, and now that they're more visible, they probably have even more issues with copyright.
@@thefullnomad6543 true, valid point. If that were the case I wish they would say it..
Now, you should also listen to his duet with Diana Ross. "My Endless Love".
The very first concert I went to as a teenager was Lionel Richie, back in 1982. He's a great singer. He was with the Connodores, a GREAT group from the 70s and early 80s. His aunt was a teacher at my high school and he bought a page in our yearbook & wrote a nice little paragraph to the students. ❤️
Beautiful voice.
“Hello. Is it me you’re looking for?” - my greeting on my answering machine 😂. Don’t judge me..I was young 😂
Remember ring-back tones for cell phone? This song was mine for a while
Dawn Neddo I did this before ring tones. I sat and hit record then played the cd over & over (& over &...) again til I got it right. Smh 😂. By the time ring tones came around I was happy with the old fashioned telephone ring. 😂
Now that’s so cute! No judgement here! 👍🏾😁
Jaquetta Akins I thought so 😂😂. Now I’m 56 and smh lol
No judgement zone💙💙 Let's not get into the concerts in our living rooms. Please say it wasn't just my group of friends🍸
Back with another video, back with another banger, back to me being entertained.... thank you!
Sinkpehna RossFire Lionel Richie is too smooth, you don’t need it
“Penny Lover” anything by Lionel Richie
Lionel Ritchie was the voice of a generation. Soooo smooth and classy! He still is going strong as a judge on American Idol. His voice just keeps getting better too, even if that seems like it isn't possible. He is still the voice of generations. I just love his music, and everything about him.
You've got to see the original video to appreciate this song!
This is a good one, you should have gotten the actual video it is beautiful. Lionel Richie was part of the 70s band the Commodores. Lionel did R&B with the Commodores but you could see that he preferred country music with the song Easy, this song is highly recommended.
Beautiful? The video is about a college professor stalking a blind student. He’s calling her on the phone, following her, watching her dance all without knowing he’s there. That’s creepy. I’d be weirded out.
The official "Hello" video really is great. Iconic.
At the time it wasn't creepy lol! But I think we all could agree the bust that the blind girl made of Lionel was hysterical 😂😂
Such a beautiful song. Love the minor chords in it, the key changes, etc. Lionel Richie has a beautiful voice as well.
Lionel Richie, Awesome songwriter and singer... Amazing!
I love Lionel!!!!
Lionel Richie also has a solo in USA For Africa - We Are the World ... In fact, he starts it off!
He co-wrote it with Michael Jackson
ALove Thanks for saving me from commenting the co-writng fact.
ALove yup, he sings the lines he wrote 😂 the rest was written by MJ, Lionel only gave some touch ups in the end
Lionel Richie with The Commodores. GOOD STUFF. Brick House
Lionel Richie is a great singer. He has a beautiful voice and songs. That song was a hit .
I think you guys would really enjoy Son of a Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield.
They reacted to it already.
Dom reacted to it the other day too
If you liked hello and Lionel Ritchie then you need to check the brother out with the Commodores singing Just to be close to you!!!
And ZOOM!

Oh, No by the Commodores
LOVE LIONEL! The best singer/songwriter ever!
this man is ICONIC! Im actually watching America idol right now..lionel ritchie is the top judge on this show! Always loved him and his music! So humble!
He's a judge on "American Idol" now. "Dancing On The Ceiling" and "Running With The Night" are his other great videos. He was with The Commodores before he went solo. He and Michael Jackson were best friends. They wrote "We Are The World " together.
Can't forget "all night long"
I wouldn't say they were best friends, but they were cool. Both part of the Motown family at one time.
Another vote for listening to "Dancing On The Ceiling"
Kacey Gowans well, he made Michael Jackson his daughter, Nicole’s, godfather.
I still wouldn't consider that a "best friend" situation. I don't think MJ considered him as such.
You should also check out "Easy" when Lionel was with the Commodores.😊
Ooooh that's a good one ❤
Yes!!! And just a side note - Easy is so influential, check out the version from Faith No More
"Easy Like Sunday Morning" is a good song.
I have it in that top 100 songs of all time type list
Oo yeah. Also even tho this song is longer you guys should check out his All night long. One of my faves to hear once in a while
I don’t think you’ve heard too many ballads since you’ve been doing this, but this is a huge ballad. Love this song and I love you both!
Love Lionel Richie...he sings such beautiful love songs. This song means so much to me. It got me through a hard time.
I think you would enjoy Aaron Neville and Linda Ronstadt singing “Don’t Know Much” I’d really appreciate it!! Love you guys!!
I forgot this song! Thanks for reminding me ❤️
Also Linda’s duet with James Ingram for Somewhere Out There

The video for this song Tells the story. It’s beautiful
You have to do ‘All night long’ now by the legend Lionel Ritchie 😀
It’s about unrequited love. He is in love with her, but she doesn’t know he exists
because she's blind in the video!!! But she sculpts his face perfectly, great video!
Love his voice... and well written lyrics... Classic
You should listen to more of Lionel Richie's songs. He's so Fly !!!
I can't believe y'all watching this without the video....woooow.....y'all need to see the video
Loved Hello video
Lionel Richie is one half of one of the greatest duets of all time, "Endless Love", with Diana Ross. If you decide to listen to this one even on your own time, you'll be in for a real treat.
Saw Lionel in concert with the Commodores in Tuskegee, AL (where Lionel grew up) long ago (Early 80's). Fantastic concert with awesome stage effects. His solo career was also amazing. He never forgot his roots and visited Tuskegee often where his mother lived. He's now a judge on America's Got Talent and mentors young artists. A true American treasure.
You two are just the sweetest with these love songs. Love it. ❤️. Allowing the audience to see your feelings for a song is always gonna win.
Who doesn’t LOVE Lionel Richie??OMG!!👍🏼❤️👍🏼❤️
