I'd recommend buying the expansions as they add side-quests/rumors to the game so you can play 'free' mode where you are wandering around drawing rumors and events without the restrictions of the 'story' mode. There are also additional stories uploaded to BGG created by the community, they are also written in excellent quality.
It's funny because for me the best characteristic if Hexplore it's the lack of tactical combat. There are so many tactical dungeon crawlers so for me hexplore it's like island in a sea of dungeon crawlers.
My all time number one board game, I always call it Baldur's Gate on the table:) Adventure, quests, character progression ... endless fun with expansions! Admin side of the game takes a lot of time and attention to detail and sometimes is the only drawback. Other than that for me there are no other flaws. Maybe one... apparently the Greenbriar Games ceased to exist sadly. So no second edition or expansions... Anyways great video for a great game.
This is a pretty good game! I play with a lot of house rules so to make the game scale better with only 2 heroes. I don't like playing with 4 heroes solo, because there are way too many things to keep track of. Ends up feeling more like a bookkeeping game rather than an adventure game. With my house rules, it's super fun with 2 heroes. Good review!
There is a free compagnon app which takes care of a LOT of the bookkeeping, which is essential for solo playing imho. My biggest gripe with the game is the endless dice chucking, there is very little strategy in play.
Great review. I have this and the follow in, but yet to get it to the table. I think its the amount of book keeping that puts me off and ive heard the combat isnt that good? But I love the Art and the setting.
Thank you! The combat is definitely not the main selling point, but everything works really well as a package. The book keeping is definitely a concern. There is an app that helps a lot with the book keeping if you're not opposed to apps.
I still very much love the game! I haven't played it since but I'm itching to play it again soon. I spent the last months hunting down the Dark Tales content with minis at a reasonable price. I finally found it and plan to continue my campaign. The bookkeeping did get to me a bit, I'm gonna try to make it work with two characters next time I get it on the table.
I’m seeing crazy prices on green brier games website. Eg core at $20 is that website a scam? If not you may be able to pick up a load of expansions on the cheap!
It's pretty good, the road events and different charcter combinations keep it fresh between plays. The only thing that is the same is the story beats if you play the same story.

I've definitely been hunting for a copy of Dark Tales at a decent price. I'll look at the BGG stories too!
@csalaja You raccomand fall of the spire or dark tales? For the "free mode" i mean... tks 😊

Now that you put it like that, it makes me appreciate hexplore it even more lol.

Thank you for watching! This game is definitely worthy of being #1 material, happy you enjoy it! I'm sad about state of GreenBriar games too.
Baldurs gate is my favourite PC game of all time! Youve just convinced me to try this Game!! Any beginner tips please?

Thank you for watching! Did you post somewhere your preferred house rules to make 2 characters work? I'd be interested in trying them out!

All true! It's not the most strategic, but still fun!

How is the replayability of this? Each game is different every time?
