13:00 Why can't the priest cure despite the fail on the leader being blessed? There's nothing on the card text to infer that the second event doesn't happen if the first fails.
After re-reading that card, you are correct! I assumed failing the test meant he would do nothing for us, but the failure just meant not getting the Blessed buff. Will fix this 2 episodes from now! Thanks for the catch, and thanks for watching along!
Enjoying your playthrough. Anytime you leave a town (not passing through, but stopping), the token starts on the day side. I highly recommend that you house rule fewer road and off road events They serve no purpose regarding the story, most are bad, and they serve only to chip away at your health and supplies. Plus it bogs down the game and you burn through the event decks quicker and you get repeats. As a suggestion, I treat these like D&D wandering monsters ... I only draw a road event on a roll of 1 on a d6. For off road, since it is supposedly more dangerous, I draw an off road event on a roll of a 1 on a d4. This has worked well for me. The condition tokens were added in the Fall of the Spire Expansion ... which, of course, will only help you if you have that expansion. So they recognized their mistake of omitting these tokens too late. IMHO, this an excellent game that has a few unfortunate issues, this being one of them. another are the typos (one if which you discovered on the Whip card). Hope you don't mind the commentary. I have played a lot of this game and I am a big contributor in the BGG forum for this garme regarding rules questions. I got a late start but I am hoping to catch up to you and become current with your play through.
I will incorporate this idea later in the series. I does seem a bit harsh and unnecessary to had an event (almost always negative) every single time. Thanks for the tip, and thanks for watching along!
I don't think it's any surprise that we may be dealing with Werewolves in this first Story? I don't think that's a spoiler (and I have not read ahead) but all indications are pointing in that direction. As far as story goes, this game is sucking me in. I just hope with 2 players it's not going to end it a TPK! And it has 6 stories, linked I believe, in this base game. Very cool so far.
It's enjoyable so far, but I do think you need to write a lot of stuff down and keep track of it. Would have been great to have tokens for those status effects though, and I think you can print them out from files on BGG. But still, you can just write it down and try to remember them all . . . yeah. Ha ha. Thanks for watching along!
There are some user-created character sheet PDFs available for printing. I think there was only one which I like in which the text was a preferable size. The others seemed to be using tiny font size to get smaller half-pages.
I think the off-road events are supposed to be worse? I'll stick to the easy non-threatening road events for a while. I mean, you only get beat up by Wardens, Spooked, Possessed and have Holy Men refusing to Bless you . . . Lovely world. Ha ha.
This game looks amazing. It seems like it could have really benefited by having some more tokens in it and a little less book keeping. Still a great looking design all around.
Wow ... this is a very cool game ... liking it quite a bit ... Just wondering ... when the Madman (being the leader) got the boon to reroll a failed check ... You commented that it would have helped the Arcanist to not become possessed ... Does a boon of one character benefit another character ?
Hi, you are not meant to take damage for Possessed on the travel map, only when characters are on the tactical maps when there is a combat (encounter) or without enemies (adventuring).
Ooops! Yup, I re-read "adventuring" and it does not include world map travel. Will fix this next episode! Thanks for the catch, and thanks for watching along!

@@PaulDarcy Cool, I thought that was the case, keep up the great work Paul and I look forward to your next instalment

@@PaulDarcy My pleasure! FYI -- I also use the Gloomhaven trackers for Vita and Power points!
I love games like this. The narrative is truly coming together. I cannot wait to see where it all leads.

He is not spooked...he's crazy! Hahaha I love it.
Well, he is a little unhinged by his past events. Ha ha. Thanks for watching along!
Doesn't the Arcanist have better stride? Shouldn't you get +1 move whenever it is her turn to control the stagecoach?
They both have base 4 stride. So 5 with the stagecoach.
Bookkeeping the Affliction. 😆First time seeing this game, but that certainly seems like an accurate description.

"I'm beginning to think there are no good road events!" 😂 How about off road events 😬?

Very story focused which is nice with great art. The encounter maps are really nice too, and you will see them in action pretty soon.

Does a boon of one character benefit another character ?
Nope. I misspoke. It's the Madman's boon which, as far as I know, is non-transferable! Thanks for watching along!
