The ancient pyramids are quite possibly the most impressive and mysterious structures in the world. So impressive that many believe that aliens must have built them. So why do people believe humans could not have built them? The Great Pyramid is estimated to weigh about 6 million tonnes overall and comprised 2.3 million blocks. Some of the blocks used for the Kings Chamber weighed up to 80 tonnes and would have had to be transported 500 miles down the Nile. As well as its sheer size, the Great Pyramid is very precise, aligning perfectly to true north. However, there are theories on how the egyptians built these pyramids, although all of them have their critics. For example, one theory suggests that they used giant sleds to move the blocks, using water or vegetable oil to lubricate them over the desert sands. Although the alien explanation is cool, it seems much more likely that these ancient civilisations were simply much more advanced than we currently believe them to be.

The Amcient Egyptians didn't build the Pyramids, they rebuilt what they found. They didn't build the Sphinx either. They were reinhabiting rebuilding, same as many other Civilizations around the World.

It is believed that building the pyramid was a national project and working in it was considred a great honor.

You people just don't seem to realize that back in those days, they didn't have computers and movies and video games and TV shows to occupy their time. They literally didn't have anything better to do than form made up religions and build buildings for entertainment. They literally didn't have anything better to do, so how could it be so hard to believe that people spent their entire lives and several generations of people moving these blocks and building these buildings. They were simply bored and dedicated to these structures. Not very hard to believe at all as long as you don't take things for granted.

A lot of people act as if the great pyramids are the only pyramids. However there are over 100 pyramids in Egypt and there is a clear progression of them getting better at their craft. They started off as small step pyramids that slowly grew in size as they got better, then they transition to the smooth sided angled pyramids were more familiar with. Even then there are plenty of failed versions of these pyramids before they got it right. The most popular example being the bent pyramid. The Egyptians took hundreds of years of trail and error before they were able to build the great pyramids.

It's not that we can't build them today it's because we have no use for them as they are an inefficient use of space and building techniques have developed.

I'm not sure of everything, but engineers have found marks made by power tools. Sometimes when using power tools, cuts can be started that aren't centered correctly. The user will stop to center the blade and begin again. These errors will leave marks that other craftsman can identify. These errors have been found on some of the ancient structures.
