  • Two and a half years ago I bought a VW T6 Transporter panel van, today I have a self built quirky campervan. Here is a photographic record of me building a pull out bed for my not so vanlife van #vanlife #vwtransporter #campervan

      @@GS04WAL your welcome. You've taken your time to share your ideas. Was just watching another of your videos was 20sqm of carpet enough to do all the metal work and ply panels walls and ceiling. Many thanks

      @@socialising6037 Yes more than enough, I think a standard lining kit for a SWB van is 10m. In addition I did the lower bulkhead which is propably another 2m ish. Check out Harrisons or Kiravans. They sell the lining kits with everything you need.

      Hi Alison, this is the timber I used for the frame www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Studwork-CLS-Timber---38-x-63-x-2400mm/p/107177

      @@GS04WAL thanks, did you use the same for the slats?

      It was different stuff but if I was doing it again I would go to Ikea and get the curved bed slats they use on their flat pack beds. I've heard that they are much more comfortable.

    Greg your van looks mega mate! About to do the exact same with my Caddy whats the score with attaching the bed frame to the van are you using brackets or screwing directly into the van floor etc?

    • @GS04WAL
      @GS04WAL  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the comment. My bed isn't actually fixed down. However, I reckon 6 angle brackets in to the floor would do the trick. One in each corner and two in the middle.

    Looks awesome, do you secure it to the bottom of the car at all? Im looking into building something like this

    • @GS04WAL
      @GS04WAL  3 роки тому

      Its not fixed down. I take it out so I can still use the space for cargo if required. Its quite heavy so doesn't really shift around when driving. It would just need some angle brackets to fix it to the floor and sides if required.

      They are 38mm x 63mm, not sure what that is in imperial, apologies. Heres the Wickes URL www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Studwork-CLS-Timber---38-x-63-x-2400-mm/p/107177
