    Thanks very much for this video, I have two and a half "upgrade suggestions which i implemented myself.
    1: Use but hinges with removable pin
    2: The "gap" you have between your panels.... Rotate / alternate (if 3 panels) and you can slat up right to the edge
    3: use plastic Slat caps .... and indiustrial strength velcro. (Cut the pins of the caps. It makes spacing easier) Allows more fexibility on the slat and if something breaks its easier to replace

I understand how to find the length (& make in sections!), but I'm wondering if there is an equation you used to figure out how deep to make the couch based on the size of the bed? For example, if you know you want the overall bed width (fully extended) to be 54", would you make the couch and pull-out slats to be 27" (1/2 of 54") each? Thank you!

    Hi Dan, it is hard to tell on your video, but are these slats the laminated and glued type with a bow in the middle of them to give some spring? These are the only sort I can see on the Ikea website. Also, with having to screw each slat down at both ends does that still allow the same amount of spring and / or does that put some extra strain on the screws when the weight of a person sleeping on the bed, tending to flatten out the curved slats, making them longer? Excellent videos by the way and many thanks for making them ;-)

    • @dantheman321
      @dantheman321  Рік тому +1

      Hi John yes they are those types of slats. With there being so many slats close together and when you include the cushion, it will distribute the weight onto the slats with no problems. Hope this helps and many thanks for watching 👍

    Hi, can you tell me the "actual" thickness (height) of the Ikea bed slats please? On their website it says the thickness is like 2 inches but that obviously isn't correct.

  • @TroyD-vo1bz
    @TroyD-vo1bz 5 місяців тому

    Is that just extra wide T- molding for the edges of the plywood? I don't think I've ever seen quite that design before. And you may have mentioned in the video, but what is the thickness of the slats? 12mm?

    Hello Dan. Is there a good way of closing the gap between the sliding parts when both halves are pulled out?

    • @emilyhawthorne1462
      @emilyhawthorne1462 2 роки тому +1

      I've been wondering about that too. I really like your demo style. This is the best I've seen and I really want to make it, but that gap looks big when both sides are pulled out. If you have a wider rig maybe you can go with a single pull out?
