Ravenging Lunge is S-tier for ONE specific reason: it's literally mount speed for a fraction of the stamina of sprint. You can absolutely charge across maps and past enemy pack using pathways without any hard drop-offs/ledges. I rarely use this for damaging enemies during a fight, but for traversal it is god-tier; nothing else in the game comes close.

@@PurgeEvilTVDefinitely, and it has a little bit of ramp up time so I think many players don't realize the utility outside of combat. Awesome guide btw; I had pretty much arrived at the exact same conclusions very early game and the only thing I probably run over some of the s-tier skills on this list is tidal wrath because it's not just a counter attack but also a BLOCK. Certain enemy types can break your hyper-armor, or a huge pack of wolves/goblins all pouncing at once can stagger you but tidal wrath does not break guard in my experience (assuming all enemies are in front of you). It can be used as a situational hard counter, opening up the chance to razing sweep after (non-charge) quickly to topple a ton of enemies. The added bonus is of course pre-empting the attack to counterstrike and delete small foes. I've never needed anything other than basic moves and the heavens/razing swings to kill efficiently so utility definitely helps.

It's about the same speed as sprinting, though does cost a bit less stamina. It really should be faster in my opinion but the main allure of it is being able to pin priority targets or launch them off cliffs.

The best part of Raveling Lunge is that if you release the skill before contacting a wall with an enemy at your sword, you will just shoot the enemy forward like you have a cannon instead of sword. Have 0 clue how it works but it is so fun to yeet things with this skill😄

You only use the Arc of Might when the boss has been knocked down, for example the drake, you can easily one shot drake at least 3 or 4 bars of health when aiming to the heart when the drake is down, it’s more like a finish off skill, it deals the second most of damage in the game among all class skills. It should be S tier when using it for opening window.

Arc of Might is a mainstay. Arc of Deliverance got me hooked on warrior back in the day. Did not matter to me that it was objectively the worst class. Whenever I tried the others, I'd go "yeah this is easier and I'm doing more damage, but I'm not getting that satisfaction of the AoD impact".
So while the rest of warriors kit makes AoM underwhelming by comparison, they certainly did not fail to capture how satisfying that skill is to land. It stays and just like DD1 i will stubbornly try to land it for the kill even if it takes me far longer than it would otherwise. BONK GANG

Roar is an A tier skill for Pawns, you can make them trigger it by pressing the Help button if you’re playing as Mage or Sorc helping take the heat off of you. Also i wish we could get an upgrade to assign what skill we want to trigger from our pawns, for example i would love to trigger Catapult Launch instead of Roar if i am playing a melee vocation

      @PurgeEvilTV  8 місяців тому

      Noted, thanks for this ⚔️

  • @hazelberry
    @hazelberry 7 місяців тому +2

A use for ladder/catapult launch is when paired with either 2 warriors or a warrior and fighter pair. If the warrior/s has surging/diluvian strike this enables them to get a lot of damage off of the launches thanks to it dealing more damage the higher you fall from when using the skill. Fighter has the similar gouging/gutting skewer ability and while it doesn't scale off of height it is a very powerful ability to use when climbing on large enemies so being able to launch them up to the enemy is a great tactic.
Too bad the game is singleplayer cause this would be the type of thing that either requires very sophisticated pawn AI or would require 2 human players coordinating with each other to fully maximize the effectiveness.
A completely separate note about revivify/inspirit. Strangely in the game files it actually has values for giving buffs to several different stats such as attack, defense, and knockdown resistance. However all of these are set at 100% so it's effectively just multiplying by 1 and therefore doesn't actually give the buffs. But I thought it was interesting that they may have originally wanted to give warriors a buff move but later on decided to make it a purify instead.
Additional note this time for tidal fury/wrath is that it is a surprisingly excellent option for dealing with harpies and succubi. Very easy to land the parry when they come in for an attack, and will immediately stagger them and then finish them off.

  • @Shrade-0

At 1300 knockdown on my warrior my whole thing is to mountain breaker to stagger then trip into arc of might on the weakspot. If arc of might hits a downed enemy on the right spot it will die. I honestly find AoM to be very underwhelming if you aren't hitting a knocked down target in its weakspot. This list is spot on for my experience with the skills. I usually run AoM, Mountain breaker, razing sweep and ravaging lunge.

Reason for this is the way combat is in dd2 compared to dd1 is downed enemies take way more damage. It’s like a multiplayer even to the body they take more damage when in down state. The finisher mechanic is reasoning for that. But once you align a downed enemy bonus with a weak spot bonus that’s where it gets nutty !!

The warrior class in general is fun for those who love to use a great sword (like me), but the vocation lacks gap closer skills that would help mobility and fluidity, it feels a bit clumsy compared to DD1, I would even say that it should receiving an attack speed buff of at least 10%, plus Arc of Might is objectively an inferior version of Arc of Deliverance, not only does it consume all your stamina leaving you completely vulnerable, but it doesn't feel as satisfying. Hopefully in the DLC they add better skills and take more as a reference to Berserk.

I play MA and have my main pawn set up as warrior. In NG+ I run this 2 man set up because it's fun to support him at range and we cover each other's bases. I have him set up as Straightforward. I've grown very attached to his Nonchalant voice (it reminds me of Louise Armstrong from FMA). In my mind, that's his voice and I don't have the heart to change it.
But because of that, I find Arc of Might to be abysmal to run on him. I don't know why, but when it's on his skill bar that's the ONLY a skill he will use. Leaving constantly fatigued. Doesn't matter what we are fighting, from goblins to greater dragons, it's like he forgets all his other moves and just spams that one skill back to back.
I think it has something to do with my chosen inclination for him, but like I said, I can't bring myself to change his sarcastic "fascinating" personality. 😂
Anybody else refuse to change their pawn inclination or is it just me?

It's not just you.... my pawn is a kindhearted warrior, probably not the best option but not the WORST either. I just avoid putting the jump / launch move on him, because with kindhearted they just want to help YOU first, so he just runs around in the fight trying to launch you. Also do not put Chirurgeon specialization on him, as I don't want him to stop battling to come hand me a potion (I got it) - just want him to stay in the battle. For those reasons, I think straightforward would be better, but like you said, I've grown very attached to him as he is and changing his voice at this point feels just wrong, like he'd be a totally different person then - so kindhearted he remains!!! Also by avoiding the launch skill and chirurgeon specialization that helps keep him more focused on the fight...

Diluvian strike has a massive weakspot modifier so if you topple a big monster and use this on their head you will take out massive chunks of their health and you can usually do it twice and then follow up with a stonesplitter.
Arc of might of is striaght up overpowered if you hit a weakspot on a monster. It will take out like 4 health bars in one hit which means it can one shot most large monsters in the game if you hit them in the head.
Galestorm slash is a good skill that turns the area in front of you into a deathzone. Its also good at wailing on an enemies weakspot as well and it deals decent stagger damage and can keep some enemies locked in stagger.

A note about Ravening Lunge: You can also consider it as a decent 'travel skill' if you're finding the long roads to be tedious, as you pick up great speed at a reasonable cost in stamina, and can just cancel out of it right before you exhaust yourself.
I'm not sure how well it competes per se in damage against large enemies, it's definitely less useful against Cyclops/Ogres/Golems, but if you get the ramming animation against a wyrm's heart or a griffon's head, I've found it to deal enough damage to warrant using it again and again in those instances!
Finally, cancelling the Ravening Lunge animation while you have an enemy impaled on your weapon causes your character to throw the enemy forward. If you are fighting near a cliff (doesn't even need to be a perilously tall one), you can often kill your enemy just with that throw. You can also do this simply to shake off an already-dead enemy so you're not wasting time.

Imo as much as I love AoM as a concept it’s a very niche use. The damage you get when *not* hitting a weak spot is just less than two or three heavenward attacks and you can arguably get more knock down potential out of that. When you *do* hit a weak spot the damage is great…but again you can get off several heavenward attacks or just use the triangle attack a few times to similar effect. *Furthermore* it’s a tad too slow. If you knock a drake off balance you have maybe 2 seconds to get into position before it’ll start to get up and part or all of AoM will miss. Yet again, heavenward does not have this issue. Personally, I have AoM but more often than not I spam heavenward to interrupt any attacks, consistent poise, and only use AoM when I’m guaranteed to hit. All in all, it’s good but very niche (sorry about the essay lol)

For example, cyclops, knock it in the head with heaven ward sunder until it staggers back, pull on its right leg or hit legs with a sweeping attack until it sits down, hit its face while it sits down to flatten it. Then go to the head while it's on its back and press triangle on its head to do massive, massive damage

Agree with much of this, especially that Gale/Windstorm Slash really feels like its using a skill slot to do what your core skill standard attack already does, and seems completely redundant. Also agree about Tidal Wrath seems like a Fighter skill that ended up with the warrior, and in the game at large, I don't find counter skills to be that relevant. Maybe in NG++ or something, but combats can be over super quick and sometimes before the enemies even get to attack at all, so I don't feel like counter attacks are good in the game at all, on any vocation. Sadly, I feel like Savage Lash and Arc of Might are also kinda redundant with each other, and that as many skills feeling not relevant/useful or redundant on the warrior makes me think its not as well designed or developed of a vocation as it could have been. Arc of Might is so situational and uses up all your stamina for meagre effect, unless you manage to get a weakpoint that doesn't go anywhere for the 6 full seconds of charge time. Honestly can do more damage more often using Tidal Wrath and not lose all my stamina. It looks cool, but its just not that useful compared to other options in the kit.

Picking up and yeeting small enemies off cliffs is always hilarious, even if it's kind of a waste of a skill slot with that 1 skill. I forgot its name, Capcom decided to spell things in German for that vocation or at the very least German inspired. It's augment polarity is interesting cause it boosts strength during the day and magic during the night. Could equip 9 weapon skills because primary and secondary weapons! Each weapon has three skills. You remove the bow or shield or sword etc and you're left with 3 skills! Warrior has only a primary. this constant conflating by the community to show how "shafted" warrior is in the first game is so disingenuous and annoying. Then you're going to say "well what about sorcerer and mage they have only a primary and they have 6 skills. And my response as a warrior main is, they're special cases and warrior doesn't need 6 skills because that's the point! Warrior only needs 3 skills and people who say that's a bad thing ultimately suck at using warrior!

I found a new way of playing Dragon's Dogma 2 and it has changed how fun it is for me. Play with only your mage support pawn, a party of 2. It will put pressure on your skills and make you to learn how improve your combat expertise in the class you like. Im currently playing, warfarer, Warrior and Archer. I swap back and forth between bringing bosses down to the ground with warrior, then when I need precision shots for air types or higher weakspots, I use archer. The synergy will develop naturally as you play between any 2 classes and develops masterful combat system if you play any 2 classes with warfarer

I'd say that sunder, sweep, tide and dilivial is a great combo for pawns, tide because pawns are great at frame perfect parries and diluvial because my pawn one shot a medusa with a decapitation after climbing her on my first proper fight, not a fan of the arcs and mountain breaker because they miss too much with them, arc of might is worthless because they'll spam that and be out of stamina all the time, as for lunge, they have tendency to not stop for cliffs so uh...yeah no, roar could be good if you don't want aggro but I personally think it's a waste of a slot since they spam it for some reason, though they do use it if you use help me in case you're crawling or KO'd, hope my experience helped a bit.

For some reason Catapult Launch is bad on player & pawn. No need to launch pawn (except for a meme build with a party with 2 rogues maybe). For pawn i notice that the Warrior use it too often which makes it useless for a big part of the fight. In comparaison Fighter also use it but less which can make it usefull in some situations.
I find the ultimate skill useless for a simple reason: consume all stamina.
With the actual game difficulty... well you don't really care to get hit but if you set difficulty up then it's another story cause no stamina means unable to move or do anything at all.
In addition the counter spell is big if you start to make the game harder but even in normal game without mods. As it blocks attack that means you don't take any damage so your HP bar stays full for a longer period + it follows the block with an area attack that let you breath a bit and charge another ability while ennemies being push back or on the ground.
