Hi Veronica! I am working toward starting my bookkeeping business in a few weeks and one of my biggest obstacles is my lack of experience. I don't have an accounting background, but after 20+ years in the food and hospitality business, I have picked up some skills along the way so accounting is not a foreign concept to me. Nevertheless, it's very daunting to think about marketing myself without solid experience (despite the training I've gone through over the last few months) but this video presented some great ideas and I feel more hopeful and motivated to move forward confidently. I just discovered your channel and have been watching many of your videos. Thanks for making such great content and supporting the bookkeeping community!
Thank you, Veronica! You are a God-send!! I started my virtual assistant business two years ago with bookkeeping as my niche, and , wow....!! I hit my first bump in the road and felt like I have been railroaded! Not much help on being a Virtual Bookkeeper , especially in a Third World country where even small business owners want a physical presence! Thank you, this is like you holding my hand, teaching me how to make sure footed baby steps.....
Wow! that was mind blowing! all the things you've mentioned really struck me. So better yet prepare myself into it. Great Job again Veronica! By failing to prepare you are preparing to fail. - Benjamin Franklin.
Hi Carloyn. As professionals, we should not be expected to give our clients resumes. However, you should update your LinkedIn profile, which I consider to be your online resume. If a client asks, you can point them to your LinkedIn profile.
Hi Veronica - I am starting a bookkeeping & consulting Woman owned business. I am using Quickbooks online. 1. I am a Certified Public Accountant - due to leaving my Career and spending my time on raising a family - my license is currently in Escrow. Do you think i should spend the time and money to pull out my license from Escrow? 2. Do you use engagement letters and if so what program? 3. What kind of insurance do you carry? 4. Did you start your business Totally Separate from your home. Because to start mine - plan on doing it out of my house with Quickbooks online That is more focused on the accounting program vs. office visits? 5. How large is your staff? 6. Any other tips I should consider? - which items should I have definitely in place before I start taking on clients - Started following you - may have missed some of your earlier 5MinuteBookkeeping.com videos
Hi Lee. I'm sorry that I didn't see your questions earlier. 1. I wouldn't take the time to renew my license at this point. Many clients are not concerned with whether you are a CPA unless you are doing their taxes. 2. I use Quotient. 3. I have professional liability insurance. 4. I started my business working from my home office. I now have a brick and mortar office but rarely see clients. My clients are virtual and all over the US (and some in Canada). 5. I have a team of 3 full-time employees and 1 part-time employee
Absolutely love following you. You rock. Thank you so much.
