Hi Veronica, Thank you for these awesome videos! Would you recommend joining NACPB and going through their training and certification program?
Hi Tina. I am not familiar with NACPB. However, my biggest question would be whether they provide "old fashioned" bookkeeping training (centered around debits, credits, and journal entries), or whether they provide virtual bookkeeping training (debits, credits, journal entries, QuickBooks, and apps).
This is very helpful. I feel like I have a solid idea of how to start learning. Starting a business sounds like a good plan long term but you can also work for another business too right? I've seen job postings and it didn't give me the impression you have to be an established business owner and would be a good way to get your feet wet while you build your business.
I'm a big believer in getting experience first so that you can work under more experienced people and learn from them.

Congratulations on getting your bookkeeping certificate. Look for companies that hire virtual bookkeepers. Many local accounting firms want to hire people with experience. But companies hiring virtual bookkeepers are usually willing to train you.
Also, make sure that you get certified in QuickBooks Online (it's free).

What are your thoughts on the NACPB certification and licensure programs?
Hi Savannah, I'm not familiar with their certification and licensing program. However, for any bookkeeping training and certification, they should teach you both the theory of bookkeeping, QuickBooks, and working virtually with clients.

I can't tell you how many days it will take. In some cases it could take months. It just depends on you and how quickly you're willing to work on it.

If you don't have bookkeeping experience, the best way to start is to work for a qualified bookkeeper or chartered accountant for 2 to 5 years so that you can get hands-on experience.

Hi Veronoica: I recently took a Bookkeeping course online and got a certificate. I worked in banking years ago posting G/L, A/P, A/R. At another bank I worked with Balance Sheet, Income Statement. I took Accounting 1 & 2 in college but I'm rusty. I need to take some classes so that I can practice all the things I have mentioned. I would like to get a remote job as a Bookkeeper Trainee but I have to make sure of my skills. I need to be confident enough to be able to apply to a job. Can you help me? Thanks so much.
Hi Anna Marie, if you have training and experience, then it sounds like you need to work on your confidence. The key is to take the first step despite your fear and lack of confidence and to start looking for a job in bookkeeping.
Hi, how do you log client data if you are not fisically at their office to enter receipts etc… what can you do virtually?
Hi. We use the connected bank and credit card transactions in QBO to record transactions. If your clients need you to process receipts, A/R, A/P, or Payroll, you would need to use integrated software applications such as Dext, Melio, and Gusto.
After getting training.. We need Quickbook sofware then working online as accountant right???
Yes, you should get training first and then learn the software.

The toolbox is free. There is an option to purchase another resource for $35. You don't have to purchase it. You can sign up to get the free toolbox.
B.S. in accounting, Universal Accounting certification, and Quickbooks Online certification, and I feel no way prepared to jump out there. I guess what I'm trying to say is I learn by doing.
I had 25 years of experience in the accounting field and I still didn't feel prepared when I started my own business. I agree that we should learn as we go, but we also have to realize when fear and doubt is holding us back.

Hi. What you make as a bookkeeper is very dependent on the number of clients you will take on and your pricing. But, let's say that you have 7 clients at an average of $750 per month, that would be $5250 per month or $63K per year.

Hi Jane. That would depend on the company doing the hiring. There are many online bookkeeping business hiring bookkeepers.
How do I do step one on my own is there a free course online?
I am not aware of any free bookkeeping courses. Bookkeeping takes training and practice and you should invest in a reputable program to get the training and support you need.
How easy do you think it will be to transfer from 10 years as personal banker at credit union to a self employed bookkeeper?
It sounds like you are comfortable with numbers and working with people. That's fantastic. I can't say how easy it will be but you have a good skillset to get started. The rest is hard work and dedication.

The free QBO training only shows you how to use their software. It does not teach you bookkeeping. AccountingCoach.com provides free and low-priced training.

I am a Ghanaian an A.C.C.A. chartered accountant, i want to register for the QuickBooks proadviser programme, but my country's phone code has been excluded from the proadviser registration form country phone code section . This has made it impossible for me to register as such i need help from you as to how to overcome this.

You do not. However, if you've never done bookkeeping as a CPA, you may want to brush up your skills.

Hi Donna. If you have an accounting degree, you don't necessarily need to take bookkeeping training. However, most colleges and universities don't teach bookkeeping. They teach you accounting theory. Ultimately, it's up to you to evaluate your own skill set and decide if you need additional training.

Yes, absolutely. But, keep in mind that there are different versions of QuickBooks for each of these countries. You would need to be familiar with all versions.

How to get accountant state verified certificate.
Are you referring to becoming a Certified Public Accountant? In the US that is the only license given to accountants and it is based by state. You have to pass the Certified Public Accountant examinations.
If you're referring to business licenses, regulations vary by state.
Bookkeepers do not have any licensing requirements in the US.
You do not have to be a licensed bookkeeper or a Certified Public Accountant to get started as a bookkeeper in the US.

This is just an infomercial and provides no information at all. It also promotes quickbooks which is not a professional software and was only made for simple bookkeeping for small individual business for people such as a electrician, plumber etc.
